Looks like I'm apologising again (This time to Stefan for telling him it would be the F2004 this week ninja (we'll run it next week) - At least you should approve of the change though Wink )

I had been intending to run the afore-mentioned Ferrari, but yesterday lunchtime, just before writing the race post I recieved an email from RSS saying it was their 5th birthday and they had a big sale on...
So it struck me as the perfect opportunity to try and encourage a 1990's spec GT race while the cars are extra cheap.

The arrival of the sale has also coincided nicely with the arrival of a fairly major update to Thruxton, if you're British you'll be well aware of the tracks' reputation, if not lets just say its VERY fast Grin

I currently have the distance set at 40 minutes - but as the pit boxes are angled I don't want to make things awkward by forcing people to stop. So that may yet decrease after I've done some further tire testing (I had originally hoped to have a pit requirement).

Both cars can achieve the same lap time to within 10'ths of a second so can race excellently together - but as you would expect with an RR Vs MR car they have very different strengths and weaknesses, although I'll be in the Porsche (Darche) I'm forced to admit that Thruxton is slightly easier in the Ferrari (Ferruccio) as the ultra high speed corners require some serious concentration and gentle footwork in a rear engined car Cool

A last note on a payed for mod - while the sale is on this pack is £2.72 (€3.25) but still offers far better value than most free mods as these are actually Kunos quality and not full of bugs, dodgy graphics/physics/sounds or simple poor planning.
If a decent turnout occurs for this race then I WILL run a season in them, just not next season as I've nearly finished planning that Wink
Try them before the sale ends and if you like them I would seriously recommend you try the GT1's too - same era, same (lack of) driving aids, but ~200Bhp more and better aero.

Cars allowed: RSS GTN pack

Track: Thruxton V2.02

Note that this is updated from the last time it was used here - it still works in Vanilla AC though for anyone who still hasn't modernised their game.

Are you seeing the discount added on? Still €3.25 when I checked just now - so unless the Pound has nosedived over night or Paypal is giving a very unfavourable rate I shouldn't be far wrong Huh

Showing 3.25 Euros here but I already have it.

I'm not around for this one but I'd happily race a series with these or the GT1 pack.

The GT1's are excellent - My advice is as posted up the top. Try out the GTN's as they're cheap - If you like them then now is a very good time to get the GT1's (And anything else that catches your fancy).

If we get a decent turnout using these or a load of people also get the GT1's then I would certainly use them, but a series with only 4 drivers would be pointless so I'm not going to promise anything prior to this race actually being held.

I've added a pair of videos to the first post showing hotlaps from each car and also 3 laps from a race against a full grid of AI (The AI is really quite enjoyable here btw)

I noticed in the setup menu for the Ferrari there is a setting for steer assist. What does this do & what should I set it too, it is 100 by default.

I've no idea - you find it in some mod cars and I just leave it well alone!

Steer assist is kunos version of real world "power steering / damping".   All cars have it hidden away in the physics but only a few mod cars are adjustable.  In theory 100% should be correct but eh, some of the adjustable ones do feel better with it a touch lower, but always in the 80 -100% range from the handful I have tried.

I do have a thruxton track folder, just called thruxton... however this new version is a different folder name (js_thruxton) so you will need to download it.
