Moderator's Report

Summary
A dominant win by Leo in the Cooper and a fine second place by Yannick in the rather underpowered but great handling Brabham BT7. Tristan brought the Lotus home in third spot.

Server replay time: 0h17m04s

Lap 12 – Turn 1 - Yannick Verheijen and Andreas Gebhardt
Yannick follows Andreas over the start line. Andreas decides to take a defensive line into turn 1 so Yannick takes the outside line and draws alongside as the pair approach the braking zone. Andreas leaves his braking as late as possible and holds off Yannick but contact is made. Andreas spins around, he can continue with apparently no damage but he loses another place to Tristan. Yannick is unaffected.

At turn-in Yannick had over 50% overlap but not quite 100%. This falls under the definition of a contested overtake. Both drivers could have avoided contact. Yannick by not attempting the overtake or staying very wide and Andreas by recognising Yannick was making a legitimate overtaking attempt and leaving him enough room by taking a very tight inside line.

Neither driver can be held accountable. It is in both drivers’ interest to avoid contact. To penalise anyone for attempting a viable overtaking manoeuvre or mounting a rigorous but fair defence would be counterproductive.

Season 40 takes us on a Scandinavian based competition with a few excursions into other Northern countries.

Round 5 takes us to Ahvenisto Moottorirata  1967 . A twisty circuit that has been compared to a mountain goat track. Passing opportunities are limited, but the chance of a mistake is high. This will be quite a few cars being lapped which requires that ALL drivers are aware of fast cars appearing behind them.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.
Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Handicapping
Drivers are required to drive all 7 cars and no car can be driven more than twice.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 reported incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Unlimited resets will be allowed with no need to make a S&G in the pit lane.

More like Dragon Khan down in the trees  (Monaco has straight bits!)

Still a good looking track though,  I've enjoyed most of the scenery close up.

Can we have the replay?

What a rollercoaster! After a surprise qualifying I just wanted to keep it on the tarmac and with the developments of the early laps I could drive fast but safe enough without mistakes.

The highlight was racing Mr. Hunt while lapping him  Huh dots

Andreas, that was awesome fun. So sorry about the knock on the last lap - I was desperate to make a move and was running out of time. I'm glad that we could make it to the end without losing our places. You deserved to beat me as I simply could not find the space to get past your Ferrari. We had some great side-by-side moments. Respect!

Yeah Pete, another great Battle with you.
It is so good to race with fair people like yourself. My advantage was the Ferrari-Power against your little Cooper. On to the next Race.  punk
