Moderator's Report

Sorry for the delay in publishing this report. Quite a busy event.

Server replay time: 0h00m48s

On the run into Andreas takes the expected line to hit the apex of the first bend. Bastian had a good start and attempts an overtake on the inside, but he has zero overlap at turn-in. Contact is made between Bastian’s front wheels and Andreas’ rear.

Server replay time: 0h02m57s

Through the esses, straight rear end by Andreas on Fulvio. Fulvios asks for the penalty to be waived. Bastian was following and is an innocent victim of this accident

Server replay time: 0h05m03s

Andreas manages a clean overtake Paul V & Fabio on the run down to the (T7) corner. Andreas's car is very slow on the apex giving Fabio nowhere to go and contact is made. Bastain was following this incident & pick up 3 easy places.
Contested overtake - racing incident.

Server replay time: 0h06m19s

Andreas rear ends Phil's car. Another blatant Rear End Shunt:

 Season 40 – 1968 LATE – Round 7 – Riverside International Raceway ’71

Round seven in the 1968 Late series finds us in California on the Riverside International Raceway.
The road course opened on September 21st, 1957, and operated until 1988. The dragstrip operated from 1959 through 1970, and from 1983 through 1986.
All time statistics tracks fatal casualties all  over the world shows  Riverside road course on the podium, just after Nürburgring and Brands Hatch.
This is the 1971 layout, not the 66 version.

There is no handicapping but drivers will have a limited choice of chassis for each round. The cars are divided into 5 groups, each with similar performance level. We start with Group V and work our way up to Group I and then repeat. Group I is the fastest cars available in Formula 1 for 1968.

The car set is Group IV. Drivers may use any of the following cars APART FROM THE ONE YOU USED IN RACE 2 AT SURFERS PARADISE.

BRM P126 / P133
Honda RA302
Brabham BT24

Full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please read the season 40 general rules on the details.

Please read the specific rules for 68 series on the 1968 Early championship standings page.

ADVICE ON LAPPING. Some of the tracks in this series are short and narrow. The fastest drivers will be lapping backmarkers, perhaps more than once each race. For this year we have posted a multi-language guide to UKGPL rules on the Announcements page. This includes the etiquette for lapping. In summary the lapped car should remain on the racing line and avoid sudden or unexpected movements. To avoid holding up the lapping car the lapped driver can make way where safe to do so or gradually ease off the acceleration on a straight. Extra care should be taken by second or third lapping cars who may be closely following first lapping car.

Unlimited number of Shift-Rs are allowed with no need to make Stop & Go.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

Please, excepting emergencies, no chat until Session Completed in qualification. No chat in the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

It is '71
Same track used in the 67 series - hopefully most drivers have this loaded.

That was a good race for me. A new PB and really liked the Brabham.

Didn't seem to have top speed of the BRMs and the Honda. But was a nice drive.

Not sure what happened on lap1, but hope it didn't spoil anyones race. Other than a couple of bumps up the bum it was was GPL as it should be.

I don't like this track in the CanAms, but tonight was different

Had some great laps with Bernie, who was driving really well. Put a foot on the sand once and took a detour, which was the only issue of the night for me. Other than the fact that Billy was bearing down on me a bit fast like !!

A good finish for me. As I wasnt last for a change... lol.

2nd the remarks about the Brabby ! Like Paul I found it easier to drive and  I spent most of the day practising in the BT24 , all set for the race then I read the rule book (  Shocked  )  No Brabby as I used it previous , so jumped in the BRM cold for the race with just the default set up . Thought I was going well until Tristan came by to lap me and within 2 corners he had disappeared over the horizon  Roll Eyes
Most of the race I was day dreaming until Paul caught up and made a race of it ,
Glad to have finished in one piece after a S/R on Lap 1 .

Grats to the podium chappies and all others who stumbled over the finish line  Grin

Apologies to Paul and Fabio (I think) for a couple of contacts. I had decent pace but I kept getting mixed up in other people's accidents and so I decided to retire before I caused anymore problems for anyone. Not my best race, I need the Easter break to re-charge my batteries. On the plus side, I really do like these cars. They are great fun to drive. Thanks to Billy for organising a great series.

No problem  Phil.

And I would also like to second Phil's point, cheers Billy it's been a cracking series. The 68s are great cars to race.

Can tell you what happend there in the first corner: The same old s..... was trying to win the Race in the first bend. Knocked me off from behind and created a big Mayhem. He really should be banned from races!  ban

Oh dear, Gebbi. you will never learn to leave space Cheesy. there was so much room and you cut my line. you just ruined your race by your own.

I showed you at the end of lap 1 how to do. I will review your other incidents later, you just managed to rearend at leat 2 other people in the first laps. so much work for the reko.

Ouchie, Gebhard...
