Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 383s

Darren takes it easy under braking at the end of the back straight because he has SbG on his inside. Madd misses his braking point and rear ends him, with Madd coming off substantially worse as he spun to the back of the field. It's evident from the replay that Madd tried to swerve left at the last moment but left it too late.

  • Madd-RIPpenalty — rear ending SbG on the first flying lap — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 1031s

The M3 of Anthony Humphreys was turned around by Nev a few corners before and several cars had slipped by, including Bernie Lomax in the Morgan. As they approach turn 12, Bernie is on the left as they come out of the fast left hand kink of T11, with Ant behind and to the right.

As they reach the tyre marks in the braking area for T12, Bernie jinks slightly to the right just before he brakes, and Anthony moves slightly let; Ant suddenly finds himself two feet too far to the left and runs straight into the back right corner of Bernie's car, spinning him off.

Anthony waits for Bernie to rejoin and rejoins behind him, losing three places in the process.

Looking at Anthony's braking point on previous laps, I believe he missed his braking point entirely. He could also have positioned his car further to the right, which would not only have given him a safety margin under braking, but also a good chance of passing Bernie again into T13. Unfortunately he did not submit his side of the story so by default I feel obliged to issue a penalty.

Nice DSL connection.

Unfortunately I would have to say your upstream is to low for a decent server, you might get away with an 8 person server, but even still it might be laggy.

I'd expect more than 8, we max out at about 2Mbs upload on the server.

Surely you can race if you host in-game instead of using a dedi server? I think that allows you to give yourself a nice fat weight penalty as well... Wink Tongue

Smiley Isn't dedi better than in-game, freeing up more bandwidth or something. but that weightpenalty won't give the lobby back  Wink

If numbers are shrinking I might just have a bash in the Vertislow...

You realise the Vertigo is faster than the 350Z even without the ballast changes, with the ballast changes the 350Z is almost into the GT3 class. I tried it with large amounts of time setting it up and nothing I could do could get it near my Vertigo time.

1Mb upload will give you about 11 or 12 players.

If you have a separate PC then it's much better to run the dedicated server otherwise if you host in game the PC has to process your gameplay and hosting at the same time.

I'm faster in the Vertigo than pretty much all the GTC cars, and in race trim I certainly am. Never quite got a 59 but missed one with a c**p final corner. Not sure it would be good in a race with other GTCs though as the long straights would make it a sitting duck.

The 350Z has a specific problem regarding its incurable understeer (something which I find especially puzzling as it's absent from the road car Huh).

The Vertigo is certainly quick in the right hands, especially in Dubai despite those long straights, but in a race almost any GTC car should be able to stay ahead if it can get ahead because it can neutralise the Gillet's handling advantage by eeking out a gap on the straights. Dubai is a bit of a funny track because of all the complex corners which gives the Vertigo some breathing space if it's ahead of a heavier car.

Yes I agree, there is something simply wrong with the 350Z in game. As you say no matter what bizarre setups I tried I could not get it to go round that 4/5th gear right hander near the start without lifting off. I put massive stiffeness in the rear and it just didn't make a blind bit of difference. Very odd.

funny, I watched a video on ebaumsworld or break.com where a 350Z smashed into a tree.

The video's poster claimed it was due to understeer.
