Season 40 1967F1 WORKS – Round 8 – BALCARCE

For the eighth race in the 1967 Grand Prix Works series, we will visit Balcarce in Argentina.  Balcarce was the birthplace of the legendary Argentinian driver Juan Manuel Fangio and we will be racing on the circuit that bears his name. The Autódromo Juan Manuel Fangio was opened in his honour on 18th January 1971. The circuit has hosted events in the Turismo Carretera series but it has never hosted Formula 1 races and to this day remains rather underdeveloped.

  Congrats Tristan !

It was a little frustrating to have only 9 on the track, some riders still on vacation. I had some problems with the steering wheel fixing and I had to make a stop near the pit to fix it better, with any luck I arrived in 3rd.
  Until next time folks!

Sorry guys but I was too tired to race yesterday... Not knowing the track didn't help either, and I didn't want those two factors to make me do a mistake and ruin someone else's race. Catch you next time  Wink

Typical from this guy. I knew this would happen just, was waiting for it any lap. Have fun alone the rest of the season.

I never did come to grips with this circuit in pre-race trials despite considerable time spent.  The Lotus would not come to heel and match my previous bests.  Could have squeaked out pole by a tenth if I had.  I decided to park it and try the Ferrari hoping for an easier drive but it, too, could not live up to expectations.  Gettin' old, I guess.

Off the grid, I had to soft-pedal it a bit as we headed down to T1 as Jonny starting directly ahead didn't get the greatest launch and I was fearful of butt-ramming him.  Slowing for T1, I caught sight of Bastian's RF corner off to the left.  As I turned in, the Ferrari skated to mid-track which was much, much more than I would have liked and I note that most everyone ahead of me did likewise.  I held my breath hoping that Bastian was far enough behind to let me get away with it but no, he clipped my tail and off we both went.  Not his fault, necessarily.  I just couldn't keep the red car down low as hoped.  I got back onto the track just ahead of Bastian and over the next handful of laps, closed on Clay but brought along Bastian, too.  Lap 04 and setting up for tricky right-hander after the fly-over, Bastian made a move to outbrake.  Perhaps a little optimistic in that as scoping the replay cap, I don't think that he had a ghost of a chance of staying on the road.  A hefty shunt had us both of the road.  Deja vu all over again.  After that car-to-car contact and drilling the barriers, I was surprised to find that the Ferrari didn't seem to be too badly hurt.  I carried on with Bastian ahead and pulling away.  He caught and passed Clay but no sooner having done so, he flew off the road in T1 to start Lap09.  I was too far back to take advantage of that but at least reduced the margin between us.  Lap10 and Clay lost the handle on his Lotus going for a wild spin while setting up for entry to T1.  Up a place as a result, Bastian was just ahead but pulling away.  The very next lap, Bastian has gassed it too hard coming off the corner where we had our second collision and has spun to the infield.  Clay retakes the place.  In an effort to catch up, Bastian loses the engine to start Lap13 and retires.

This left me with a clear advantage over Clay but about a dozen seconds or so behind Fulvio.  I worked hard over the next 10 laps to pull in the margin with limited success.  Even if I'd managed to catch Fulvio, engineering a pass on him would have been difficult indeed.  Comes Lap24 and my pit board flashes me that the next man ahead is now Leo but miles up the road.  That can't be good.  Now in P5 as the race wound down, a place lucky to make.

Nice jobs by both Ricky & Jonny to get the Eagles home on the podium.  Ricky now with a useful lead in the title race with just two races to run.

....Huh....what is typical from this man Huh you joke I think ....is it same thing as you do to me last saturday in OAO ??, where after your poor start you want to overtake me after 3 turn on the first lap by a stupid suicide attack on the inside Huh??....of course , no apologies for shiting my race !....For Balcarce , look at the replay man ! you don't have mirror or Pribluda or you don't look or forget your glass ? !! you have full of room on your right side but you drive like you'r alone or what ?....I am on the racing line ! you not !....so it's easy to criticat other but it's hard for you to admit your mistake  like in OAO or here !....if you'r not happy ( my to from OAO ) you can complain to the moderators , if I am in fault so I will accept the penalty, but if not, I will accept your apologies for discrimination at the eyes of the UKGPL community .....
...if you quit the champ now , no problem for me ...... only chicken do that !

Leo and Tristan,

Just report an incident and moderation team will see...

It’s just a game and it’s not worth fighting over.

Moderation posted

No incident has been reported but I had a look to the incident between Tristan and Leo.

It was a side by side contact, Tristan kept his line during a legitimate overtaking attempt and did nothing wrong, but there was probably a warp issue beetween the 2 cars.
For me, it was just a racing incident on a track where overtakes are not so easy.
