I had to qually on mediums so am happy with pole.(anyone use softs?)

I did right at the end of the session. I too had qualified on mediums, but threw caution to the wind with 4 mins of qually left and stuck on soft-softs. I had one flying lap before they were hotter than the sun and it worked, that one lap I hooked it all up and got my time down by 0.7 or 0.8 to be a whisker behind Luis's RSR.

Pace was interesting in the race. I went flying off at the start to overtake Luis within a few laps and then pulled out a little gap. This seemed to hurt my tyres a lot though with the effort and after a moment where Andy in his Viper CC span in front of Luis and me where we both put some dents in our front bumpers, my pace started to plummet. Managed somehow to keep Luis behind and stopped at my scheduled time. I figured I really did need to repair damage so got the crew to do that and my cups worth of extra fuel (that I probably didn't really need, but wanted to be sure) and a set of new tyres I went to drive smooth mode to make sure I didn't hurt the tyres again. Picked up 5 seconds in the pit stop and my smooth driving was paying off with really nice lap times (for me) eventually seeing me break the 2 minute barrier at one point. I was quite surprised to find Luis still catching me as I was doing really good lap times and definitely a fair bit quicker and more consistently than the first half of the race. In the end I think the RSRs pace was just slightly too much for my Ferrari, but I really made Luis work for it.

Qualifying with such a hot track was tricky. Tried it with soft-soft, soft-med and med-med and none seemed to go well enough. Decided to go with hards for the race but the damn car was sluggish as I never seen.

In race I still tried to keep Simon behind in the first couple of laps but was impossible and I had no choice but to drop to 3rd in GT2.
Then I made a huge mistake. I thought hards could last the entire race with some performance to come to the finish and was planning to just stop and make no change what so ever. But once Leuven and Simon pit in I saw very clearly that was going to be an impossible task. I should have went in early as during the time I remain in track with Leuven and Simon behind I lost nearly 6 seconds due to the tyres.
Finally my brain made a click  Grin and I got to the pit and changed down to medium. After all it was only some 25 minutes to go.

During the entire race I was never very far behind Simon, but when rejoined from pit exit I saw I was 5 seconds behind. I squeezed as much as I could form the RSR to be able to get closer. Like Simon already said, we had a very good race, with a most enjoyable very tight fight for 2nd place. I just loved the way Simon always kept a very clean but highly pressing driving and I must say this is those moments where online racing is truly at its best.

Congrats to the winners and to Simon for a terrific race.

That was hard work.

Started the race just behind Darren, was hoping to get a better qually than the sprint race but it didn't happen. I was going to do the race on Hards all round but I  changed my mind at the last minuet. That was a mistake.

Had good pace at the start, I was able to keep the fully fueled Darren honest for the first 10 laps, but like the sprint race, after 10 laps, I started to struggle and my pace went to hell!. I had to really work to get decent pace out of the car. I don't know what it is but the car is just awful for me in the latter half of a stint.

Coming up to the the half way stage Darren was around 8 seconds in front and the GT1's had come to lap me. I pushed really hard. By the time the GT1 cars had passed Darren i was back to within 2 seconds of him (i think). He pitted a couple of laps later and I decided to go in a lap after him.

Darren had a much better pit stop, I came out 10 seconds behind him and he just kept pulling away. that was it game over. The first 40 Min's had tired me and my hands were really aching. No matter what I did I could not match my pace from the first half of the race, I was at best a second a lap slower.

I span, I stupidly shifted down a gear by mistake when shifting up. My lead over my Nemesis (Madd-Ripp) went from around 17 seconds to 4. It was only a matter of time, he was too fast and too good for me to keep him behind. I was able to take advantage of the lapping GT1's at one point to overtake him after he got passed me but it was shortlived, he got passed with a couple of laps to go (again!!....Grrrr!!  Tongue). Great racing Madd.

Other than the few offs I had, it was another great race.

Chuffed to have got race lap record!  Grin

Catch ya later

Came into qually expecting to get a mid 1;57, but because it was so damn hot  I had to qually on mediums so am happy with pole.(anyone use softs?)

I used soft/meds which were good for only 1 lap. So in qually 1 with 4 minutes to go I did an outlap and 1 flying lap (1:51.9), and in Q2 with about 10 minutes to go I did the same, just an outlap and 1 flying lap. So I was happy with my time as it was quicker than expected.

On to Enna...YES!

I used my race setup for qual, mainly because I didn't have one and knowing that I was going to be last of the GT1 cars in the Viper I concentrated on the race instead. Med/Hard worked well in the Viper and lasted very wel in the first stint but, like Simon says, after pushing very hard in the early stages on the second stint the tyres went off much quicker.

After mypitstop I kept waiting for mo and Paul Richards to pit as I had the lead on them and so perserved my engine. After some time I realized they must have pitted already.   Huh   Started to chase mo came onto his bumper but couldn't get by 'till the end. As good as the chase was I feel robbed of my 3rd place 'cause of my pitcrew slowmotioned sabotage.  Angry

TT

Yep you seemed to lose about 15 secs in the stop compared to me, and also teamie Paul had a great end to the first stint and a good pitstop which meant that he pulled ahead of both of us. btw you can start the engine while the car is still on the jacks to save a few seconds yeah?
I knew you had a bit more pace TT and I put the boot down straight after the stops to try and keep you at bay. Only a matter of time before you caught me though but the traffic came to my rescue through the last few corners allowing me to finish ahead by just 0.2 secs.

Grats to the winners  Cool

More pace than you, mo? Not by much, I needed 20+ minutes to eat a 4 seconds gap...  Shocked   I think our pace was quite equal. More important to me is that we were both driving on the limit for these 20 minutes and niether made any bigger mistakes.  Smiley    Not counting my pitstop.  Roll Eyes

Good driving, mo. As usual.  Cool

Great video, Louis!  Smiley  Didn't even know you guys were in the finish of the direct duel when mo and me came along. All I saw in those last few turns was mos a$$ bumper and I felt the need to close the gap before the finish line.  Cheesy   Seems like an easy way for GT1 bully boys to elbow our their way through.  Undecided
