Season 40 1967F1 PRIVATEERS – Round 9 – SACHSENRING

The 9th race in the 1967 Works series takes us to the Sachsenring.
The Sachsenring is a long and terrifying street circuit in former East-Germany that so epitomizes the 1960s Grand Prix scene.  The first race here was held on 26 May 1927 on an 8.7 km (5.4 mile) layout on public roads, running also through the village of Hohenstein-Ernstthal itself. It was dubbed "Sachsenring" in 1937. This track is slightly wider than Schottenring but just as dangerous and no easier to pass on.  There are lots of undulations and slipstreaming straights so it is going to be tough on the low powered cars.  Please take your time trying to overtake, it will be very difficult for following drivers to avoid any wreckage that may be littering the track.

Tough track this , found it impossible to complete a single lap at any sort of speed in practice so pottered around for the first few laps but even then after a few laps and gaining confidence I found myself over the edge and on the rail track with no escape  Roll Eyes
Good luck to all who finish in one piece   Grin

The moderation is up to date (just round 9 to moderate but it was a clean race and to date there are no reported incidents) and the championship is finely poised. Please make sure you select a legal chassis for the final round.

Dulima - sorry about the accident on lap 7. I outbraked myself going down hill under the bridge, bounced off the haybales and landed in the middle of the track, right in your path. Nothing I could do about it I'm afraid. You managed to get going again but then you disappeared. Without looking at the replay I can only imagine that your car was damaged. I was just lucky on this occasion that my Ferrari was made of something solid.

Tricky track with only a few making it to the finish line. See you all next time.

All right my dear, you had nothing to do.

I should have taken it even slower, but I'm glad we're both back in the race.

And after that, on that right banked turn, it's my Achilles heel on this beautiful track

I passed very slowly, but my car swerved to the right and hit the trees.

The final will be very good at Silverstone

I think we both have good cars for that track

May we have a good race and most importantly, may everyone have fun

Here is how I prepared for my race:
1 - lotus (obviously)  Grin
2 - during training, I favored the slow zones, in order to be the fastest in these zones. I tried to work very effectively on these passages
On the other hand, in the long descent, this is where there were the most traps, so I slowed down in these fast zones.  Cheesy Wink Cheesy Wink

I don't know if the translation is good.
but hey, we had fun, that's the main thing  angel

Bravo Philippe !

After 18 laps at Spa (Papyrus version) with Planete league (managed by R4Ever), I was really tired and just tried to finish the race at Sachsenring... but my race ended on a tree on lap 11 Sad
