Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

The pacelap was very untidy at this event, eventually resulting in a pile up as the cars came onto the start finish straight to begin the race. Backo, who led the field around, set a very fast pace earlier in the lap but then slowed down almost to a complete stop in the final sector. This may have been to allow the cars behind to close up but it was not a wise plan.
Backo is first contacted by the unsuspecting Jure and then there is a lot of minor collisions behind as drivers try to avoid each others stopped cars.

The polesitter should aim for a pace lap speed of 120kmh on the straights, which is very important in multiclass racing to allow the slower classes to keep up.

  • BACKOwarning — failure to follow the start procedure rules
  • BACKOcaution — excessive speed on the pace lap

Server replay time: 376s

Jure is following Dave Gymer down the back straight and is behind as they reach the braking zone. Dave brakes for the corner and Jure, who brakes relatively late, runs out of space and contacts Dave as he turns in for the chicane.
Dave had every right to take the corner and Jure did not get alonside before turn-in. Anyway this was not an ovetaking attempt - Jure did not move right until he realised he had nowhere to go - but Jure should have shown more caution on the first lap.
Normally first lap contact is a 3 place penalty but I'm reducing this because it was not an intentional overtaking move and Jure waited for Dave to continue.

I've always quite enjoyed Enna. If you survive the first couple of chaotic laps it's a real test of concentration.

That said, I've not practiced as much as much as I'd like so I'm hoping I want be too far off the pace.

By 'clear violation' we don't mean touching the gravel - we mean driving straight through without any attempt to follow the course of the chicane.

Ok, sorry to be a pest but I could do with a little clarification here if possible. (not questioning the rules or the implimentation of them.....just so I know which lines I can take and which would be taboo Grin)

As an exapmle, the final two turns before the s/f straight at Enna have small areas of 'grasscrete'. Would we be penalised if regularly putting two wheels over this area?

For the lefthander your right tires should be on the curb maximum. The inside wheels (in this case) can be on the grasscrete. Atleast, this is what the rules allow.

Actually that's not what the rules say, they say
Quote
Each driver should endeavour to keep the full width of all their vehicle's wheels within the boundaries of the track at all times.
The track is defined as the normal road surface, which at most tracks is definied by white lines at the edge of the road, plus any painted curbs. Areas of grass, gravel, sand, and areas painted green (including so called 'grasscrete'), are not part of the track.

.....so both the inside wheels can be on kerb at max, but not inside it on the grasscrete.

As I've already said, the moderators are very unlikely to take action over discreet use of the grasscrete type area.

Hmm, than they must have changed, and in that case, the rules get broken all the time.

As far as I knew, the rules used to say, always 2 wheels on the track.

Edit: saw Dave's post, so don't quote me  Smiley

Please stop quoting selected parts of the rules. GTR2 will be relied on to enforce the cutting except where it fails to detect completing bypassing a chicane or driving completely off the track at a corner. I don't believe that there is anywhere at Enna where you can get away with that.

I think I might like to join this race in The ViperCC. Are there normally spots free?, and would anyone mind if I did so?

wow...TT I get the impression you dont like this track much eh!....It would be a shame if your not in the lineup though....you would be missed.

I didn't like the track much either at first....but the more practice I put in the more it grew on me...and now I quite enjoy it....the Endurance is going to be a BIG challenge....to everyone....it will take good driving skills just to survive....I'm actually quite looking forward to it.  Shocked
