Super: over and above : higher in quantity, quality, or degree than : more than
With the above definition of 'Super' in my mind, I spend the first race wondering how the Anglia Super had earned this designation, when Tony was outrunning me in a bog standard Anglia. Like Clive I was also missing the Super designation on Tony's car - it showed up as 'Ford Anglia (BSCC)' in the driver's list, so I had 3 different Anglia variants showing. Like Tony suggests, I have all the previously used cars in the same installation, bar the ones specifically requiring separate installs, so by now it's a fair jumble and quite a challenge finding the right cars for these series.
Race 1 was quite lively. I got a good launch off the grid....straight into the back of a non-moving Falcon
Killed all my momentum, but I still gained a little, treading through the mini-mayhem at T1/Copse. Had Tony on my bumper, and me running a bit wide at Club, allowed him to nose ahead before Abbey, where I accidently nudged him out of shape. He recovered, but I lost places to Clive & Matt while waiting for him. Wild chase on, in what I thought was a futile battle, believing us to be in different classes. My sights were solely on Matt up ahead, but to get at him, I had to fix the 'Tony-problem' first. Behind me, a couple of heavy US irons were threatening, but thankfully the Anglia made a complete mockery of their braking and cornering, allowing me to stay ahead.
Tony & I both dispatched Clive, unsurprisingly given his slower Anglia. Had a couple of botched attempts on Tony, dropping back and having to claw back the lost territory. Made a successful move on Matt into Copse and could continue the hunt for the fleet-footed Tony, who had also gotten past. Finally got past him late in the race, now trying to escape Geoffers, whom I had suddenly realized was behind me - the earlier lost time would have been very welcome now, but nothing to do when he caught up and passed.
Race 2 I contemplated a car change, even with a mediocre result in the Mustang as the only prospect, as being the only driver in a class is a bit pathetic. However, was distracted by some texts from a mate, having bought a real life Mustang (2020) funnily enough. So never got round to it. Still absent minded on the grid, I forgot to press the clutch when engaging 1st, and sure enough, the car jumped. False start S/G issued - after another great launch.....straight into the back of a Mustang
Served it after L1 and it pretty much ruined the race, as I was now playing catchup to the entire field, but silly thing was that it had no impact whatsoever on my result, being the only one in that class.
Grats to winners & pods in both races.
