Sorry had to go in such a hurry, Lee's (my Wife) Gran has taken a turn for the worse in hospital and we had to go to see her to find out what is happening.
Best wishes from me too Madd.
Sorry to Zacari for some light contact at one point - a whole gaggle of GT1s were coming past and I just lost track of who was where.
No worries Dave, I knew it was going to be tight getting through there!
The race was really weird, I was well off the pace and ended up 7th on the grid at a track I used to like in GTR1! I couldn't get the car setup to like the kerbs so I was losing a lot of time in the first sector and out of the sencond tyre chicane. I decided on mediums all round for the race, the fronts never really got hot enough
Race started in an action-packed way, I was directly behind MO when he clattered the second tyre chicane
thankfully (for me at least
) he shot straight up in the air and I drove nervously underneath... but safely through. Then Nev disappeared from behind me next lap and I was left alone in 5th with Freq a few seconds ahead.
I managed to catch Freq pretty quickly who was right behind Jon and backo. I managed to get a run and got passed pretty quickly, but made a mistake running wide half a lap later and he slipped right back passed
and that was the last time I got close, really. I had a few laps where I lost a bundle of time to backmarkers, not their fault it's just a horrible track to be lapped on! (If anything the backmarkers were too keen to let people passed, a couple of times I was blending off the throttle coming up to a corner so I didn't get too close, only to be flashed passed and have to stand on the throttle again
Also apologies to Darren who I failed to avoid coming into T1
)
Around half-way through and the leaders started to pit. I'd started with 100L and I was thinking about coming in, when I turned in too late for the first tyre chicane and smacked the left-side of it. Amazingly the car was fine, a slight amount of damage but no lost bodywork and no suspension damage
It took a while to get out of the kitty litter but I got to the pits fine, came out in 5th, 20s behind freq.
After that I was trying to keep it on the black stuff, expecting like most people for the race to run 'till about 51 or 52 laps. I passed freq who was in the pits again at some point, got passed backo who appeared to have had a run-in with the tyres, and then amazingly passed Jon who was pitting, though I was only infront by about 4 seconds.
I was just wondering what I could do to keep Jon behind me for 12 minutes, when the race finished! I seem to recall Simon saying something about making the races run to the full time regardless of the distance, and I assume that isn't the case, but could the race time/distance rules be clarified please? That way I'll avoid ending the race with 25 litres of fuel
Grats to JR and Leuv for the wins, and to all the survivors
I couldn't connect(couldn't see it in the Team Shark forum) to Teamspeak through the teamspeak viewer thing
Thought it was down or something.
That was my experience also, which was why I wasn't on TS either!
