Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 1019s

The Vertigo of Nick Phillips is behind Paul968's Porsche as they come out of Hasseroder. Paul gets a wiggle on coming out of the corner which allows Nick to close right up, and the latter moves right. Paul moves diagonally across the track, which is the normal line here, but keeps moving all the way to the right, forcing Nick to momentarily back off the throttle in order to avoid running into the back of him.

Nick then dives back down to the left under braking and is about a third of the way alongside as Paul turns in. Normally Nick would be considered entirely liable, but Paul's move across the track and into the space on the right where Nick was headed borders on blocking; had he left Nick a little room on the outside, the Vertigo might well have outbraked the Porsche and gone the long way round. Nick on the other hand, knowing that he had backed off slightly, should have been aware that an outbraking move down the inside was no longer likely to be viable.

To make matters worse, having made slight side contact, Paul continues to try and get to the apex of the corner despite the fact that Nick is still there, bouncing off him not once but twice.

  • Nick Phillipscaution — contact with Paul968
  • Paul968caution — contact with Nick Phillips
  • Paul968caution — covering another driver's line just before a braking zone

Server replay time: 1330s

Nick is once again right behind Paul as they go into the Bilstein chicane; they get through the chicane itself okay, but Paul has to come off the throttle momentarily in turn 6 to get the Porsche to turn in, and Nick nudges him lightly from behind, causing Paul to spin.

The Vertigo isn't very quick on the straights and it's understandable that Nick was trying to get close to the Porsche, but Nick should have anticipated that Paul would not be as quick as him through the corner and left just a little more space, both for safety and to get a better run at him.

I'm reducing the normal penalty to a single place because in my opinion, Paul backed off relatively late in the corner which contributed to catching Nick by surprise.

  • Nick Phillipspenalty — contact with Paul968 — 1 place lost

Server replay time: 1711s

Jure is working his way through traffic and approaches Adam's Vertigo as they get to the first turn. Adam leaves him some room on the left but Jure overestimates his Ferrari's braking performance compared to that of the Vertigo and goes in too hot, slides wide into the side of Adam, and pushes him into the gravel trap.

  • Jure ([R24-7]Jure)penalty — contact with Adam Parle — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 2911s

Backo has caught Adam up as they come to the last corner. There's nearly a full car length between them as Adam turns in, but Backo decides to force his way up the inside mid-corner instead of simply waiting until the following straight, where a pass would have been both safe and easy.

  • BACKOpenalty — contact whilst lapping — 2 places lost (plus 3 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 3388s

Backo laps Ruskus as they exit turn 6 but takes the racing line on the left without leaving any room at all to clear JR's Viper CC. There's absolutely no need in such circumstances not to leave a little more breathing space.

There are too many of these sorts of incidents involving Backo, so he has been formerly put on notice that his driving standards are under particular scrutiny and must be improved.

  • BACKOwarning — contact with Ruskus

Ah, cute, cute. Cute but, well... noobish.  Tongue

First of all YOU must clearly state it's a HOBBY of yours and far from being just a game and how very enthusiastic you FEEL about it and how you would really LOVE to see HER join the fun so you can BOTH have a MUTUAL interest you can enjoy TOGETHER.

Stage two is persuading her to play your race engineer.  angel

Works fine over here, SHE can't thank me enough since "now I really do know what's going on while watching racing on TV and WE can enjoy it together." She even wakes me up, "hey, you're missing it!" if I doze off while watching F1. Wink Cool

My missus is a motorsport fan, but I've got to be carefull, I've been putting some serious mileage in of late.

Also she's a teacher, so she's never got any spare time to really whinge properly....

I would not dare ask her come watch me racing on the PC.

Although I enjoying racing, I really can't see the appeal of watching someone else

Ha, LOL, Cheesy glad to see you all have to resort to the same kind of 'arrangements' / skullduggery that i do in getting time to race from the missus  Smiley

I made it very clear from the beginning (even though its a difficult thing to explain to a woman) that sundays and tuesdays were 'me-time' for racing. All i had to contend with was fits of giggles when i had to explain that what i had passed off as a motoring club was in fact online virtual racing  Embarrassed
Ah well, she now says that at least its a 'harmless hobby' and keeps me off the streets or out of the pub....little does she know  Wink but still breaks out in a fit of giggles when imagining me sitting at a pc with a steering wheel  Embarrassed and cant understand why, when i have a real sports car that i want to drive a virtual racing one....women Huh havent got a clue have they  Grin  hehe.

ps...forgot about the pace lap, what the heck happened there? we had already put our pit limiters on down the s/f straight, i flick momentarily to rear view and someone in front of me (top 4) must have then decided to brake hard and we slammed into one another  Sad ...surely once limiter is engaged there is no further reason to brake  Huh Bit annoying getting aero damage before the race has even begun.

I learned my lesson with Mrs Mo after not earning enough brownie points before a race. She plopped our 6 month old baby on my lap as I entered the Parabolica and promptly went out telling me I was babysitting Shocked

And now I find a good approach is to ponder out loud whether to go out on the p155 with mates or to have a quiet night and do a race instead. She'll always recommend the race and then I can give the impression I'm doing a favour by not going out Grin

I feel for you guys who have a hard time getting to practice or race Undecided

Although she hasn't got the slightest interest in what I'm doing Mrs Pops is very supportive of my SimRacing, I think she's secretly quite pleased to get rid of me for a few hours on a Sunday evening!

Excellent reverse pyschology Mo  Cool  Grin  I use similar ploys myself  Smiley

And lucky you Pops, i tend to trade off with things like 'you watch eastenders, i'll go practise'  Grin plus like Ad's missus, mine is a teacher and luckily for me? she has to spend several hours marking/doing reports for the little shites that masquerade as 'school-kids' these days. Roll Eyes

I find it quite helpful for both myself and the other driver to do a quick flash when alongside each other so we're both sure we're aware that  the cars are alongside. I also sometimes flash somebody when I'm quite a way behind on a straight to give them an idea that I'm going to be lapping them soon - I find it quite useful when others do the same because I then know I'm being lapped without having to look behind and see who it is.

Once they're up close it's usually obvious whether it's a faster class car or not.

Managing traffic - both lapping and being lapped - is one of the great skills of muticlass racing and for me it adds a whole extra dimension to the racing which isn't there in the sprints.

I couldnt agree more with you Dave.
Its an excellent way to improve our skills, and to have more fun aswell. yes
My opinion is to keep the multiclasses racing together, problably with addon tracks (there are several out there,
with great quality and even better fps) trying to race at those who are more wide and longer. Smiley

Cheers
