Damn, looks like I missed a good race... Sorry I missed this race but BT decided to cut off my internet connection for most of the day.

Sorry to hear that Darren. Hopefully we can get a good scrap in the last two rounds with you in your new team. Now that you can gang up on me with MJ!

Quick question peeps - could anyone SEE that the track was drying? I had turned down graphics to crap levels of detail to get good fps but for me the track just looked wet for the whole race. I noticed no difference in the track graphics. Is this the same for everyone or is it because I had low graphics setting?

The number of raindrops visible definitely fell during the race - but there was never a dry line, just a lot more spray when moving off line. It never actually totally stopped raining. Here's the race part of the weather file: Race { Conditions=87.00 OnPathWetness=67.83 OffPathWetness=70.83 AmbientTemp=24.00 TrackTemp=18.00 Minute=15.00 { Conditions=98.00 AmbientTemp=21.00 } Minute=28.00 { Conditions=99.00 AmbientTemp=20.00 } Minute=34.00 { Conditions=93.00 AmbientTemp=19.00 } Minute=45.00 { Conditions=88.00 AmbientTemp=20.00 } Minute=53.00 { Conditions=75.00 AmbientTemp=24.00 } Minute=78.00 { Conditions=76.00 AmbientTemp=24.00 } } So it was close to monsoon conditions up until the 34th minute, then eased off a bit towards the hour before getting very slightly wetter again.

Cheers guys , good info. Its a bit difficult to make strategic decisions during the race though when the wet look of the track doesn't change. Also the forecast was the same as current conditions at race start - flooded. The forecast cant be for more than 20 mins imo and there's no way of looking at it again once the race starts afaik

Graphics wise, yeah there was less rain falling through the sky and I think after a while the racing line was less reflective. The main clue was less spray. Going off-line resulted in lots of spray and on-line not much spray. I have the settings on almost max so I see everything which is very nice.
Special FX graphics settings control the spray levels. Reflection settings control the reflections.
Best thing to do for better FPS is low headlights and lower shadow settings. Reducing Special FX does help a little in the rain but not a lot. Rain is a lot worse than night because people run with lights on and it's raining so there is double the extra graphics to deal with.
I can do a guide on all the graphics settings if you like, if it helps get FPS better.

Thanks Simon that explains it - I had reflections and FX set to low so I couldn't notice much change in spray or wetness as the race progressed. Next time I'll leave the settings higher and choose a lower screen resolution instead which should do the job. I was on 1650x1080 which in hindsight was a bit stoopid

I'd like that, Simon - if you can spare the time. I have a low performance on my graph card since I "upgraded" it and lost the overclocking settings that my friend did. Last night I experienced low fps several times through the race, at the end (doughnuts?) it came as low as 11. It's undrivable and dangerous. TT

would be much appreciated Simon. I have 2 x 7800 GTs and although they aren't top dogs anymore, the comp still struggles on full graphics. SLi enabled and everything. I dont get it cos i dont understand graphics too much! doh

Aw damn, Wudda loved a wet race but got back home at 9:20 There's no Master's enduro thread set-up yet so I'll say it here - I hope I'll be around on Sunday for the race, however I'm about to leave for (a slightly flooded!) Sheffield to compete in the UK corporate games for Intel We came second in our "warm up" a couple of months ago, so hope we can go one better! Only a short track though, ah well, usual Karting fare Plan is to be back on sunday night, but not sure yet. Wish me luck On the plus side we came back with 7th/about 150 in our sprint races and 1st/about 48 teams in the endurance, got 4 golds and now invited to the world games in Spain - but only if we can get the cash Wrists/back are screwed, but hopefully will make Magny tomorrow. I hope the enduro is wet coss I hate the track with a passion.

I think this would be very helpful indeed Simon - can you post a guide somewhere?
