Aagramn, Purdie and Paul Richards are all racing close together. Purdie's line through the final chicane is compromised and he suddenly slows, having bounced over the high curbs. Aagramn touches the back of him and then Paul runs into the back of Aagramn, causing the latter to spin and collect Mark McClean.

Depite being at the back of the grid I was still looking forward to a scrap with Dave Gymer and Picnic .... and it was just that for a little while.  Had a great battle with Dave before he pulled a slight (1.5 seconds maybe) gap .... and then I had a ridiculous slow speed spin on that bastiche of a last chicane ... and then promptly threw it off track in T2 an removed the rear wing.  Dave was long gone and so was my will to carry on.

Still, enjoyed it whilst it lasted - but I think Imola will be my last foray into the world of GT1.

aaaaaaaarrrghhhhh  Angry  I dont poxy believe it  Sad

I had a bad feeling something was going to go wrong in tonights race because i was looking forward to it too much Roll Eyes

Qualied a good 5th with 1:32.3  Cool.

Ran 5th for about 10 laps staying on the heels of the top 4 and enjoying the battle. Then had a small spin at adelaide under heavy braking. Dropped to 6th as Shark nipped through losing 5 seconds.
Stayed there chasing Shark hard about 4 secs down the road until with only 10 minutes remaining and then for some bizzare reason the tyres go like ice even though tyre wear only shows 11, and no red hot spots  Huh
The car then flies off the track at almost every corner and i dropped right down to 12th. I was literally fighting the car into and out of every corner which is really weird as i've had better grip with a lot worse tyres than that. Huh

I'm then so much faster through estoril curves than every one else in the tight pack in front of me that when Colin Hines got out of shape i had to hit the anchors to avoid him and fly off into the armco...race over with torn off bodywork and wheels :'(

Gutted, easy had a top 6 finish here tonight. Know idea why the tyres went like that and i was really enjoying the race upto that point  :'(

first of all GRATS BARACUS
quali was okay, put in a banker so i cud work on my race setup and was surprised to even be as high as 9th!

race started well running 7th with Paul R pressuring me and a train of cars behind! Then after some laps of tussling with Aagramn i squeezed past him into last chicane and with such a bad entry i hit exit kerb and cudn't accelerate so he hit me...very very sorry for ruining your race Aagramn and Paul cos he got caught up in it  Undecided

...after that i continued my recent form of big spins and ended up with a s/g coming very much last!  Embarrassed

did enjoy the race and kept going even tho was on my own for a long time! lol.....  Smiley

Sorry to hear that mate. I actually didnt get a good run out of the chicane as i'm usually good through T1/2/3 too. Was hoping you could join the battle I was having with SBG. I have to say thats been the most enjoyable race for me in GT1 so far. Great racing SBG, you defended really well and made it really hard for me. Tyres were ginving up in the last few laps and wanted to hold my position and not throw it away with a guys close behind.

Well done to Baracus on his win!

Probably the most fun race for me yet.

Delighted to get pole although there is about .7sec to come off that time. Made a couple of mistakes even of best hot lap.

I like this 23 degree steering set up much better and it helps my tyres too.

My Lambo was awesome on the brakes. I could nail hairpin every lap. I was tempted for some long range overtaking maneuvers but decided against it as doubt driver in front would not. expect a car to come from so far back.

Leading the race for the first good bit I was managing to keep Ruskus as bay, he was usually about 0.7 sec behind. Coming out last chicane the kerb scrubbed all my speed of and Ruskus glided past into turn 1. Chasing hard and watching behind I took my eye off the road ran on to grass, highly stupid, then dropped to 4th.

Nothing between the top 4 until Ruskus tyres were well past their best. Freq managed to nip by a few laps after Baracus but for all my attempts I could not.

I was seriously quicker through bends but no space. Got along side a few times but that viper had too much power on the straight for me.

Awesome race non stop for me.

Great win Baracus, great race Freq Ruskus

Been a while since I've raced, and I think it showed. Good fun though.  Smiley

Qualified way too high for my race pace in 7th. The front six quickly moved away from me, and I was fighting to hold onto my place for the first 15 minutes. Had a clean fight with Purdie, but I think I was holding him up quite a bit. He eventually got alongside me, and we were side-by-side for 3 corners, until I had to let him past at the final chicane. Unfortunately he was a bit off line, and got a bad run over the kerb, slowing him down. I wasn't able to react in time, and gave him a bump. Then Paul Richards did the same to me, spinning me out. Pretty sure it was a racing incident, don't think we could have done anything to avoid it. Think I finished 12th in the end.

Then after some laps of tussling with Aagramn i squeezed past him into last chicane and with such a bad entry i hit exit kerb and cudn't accelerate so he hit me...very very sorry for ruining your race Aagramn and Paul cos he got caught up in it  Undecided

No problem Purdie.

Congrats on the win Baracus.

Woa bloody hard work, but a great race!

Brian just pipped pole from me with a good lap, well done.

I thought I could overtake him on the straight, but the Viper was awefull through Estoril, so the Lambo had such a big lead on the straight, that I couldn't even accelerate towards it.

I followed Brian around for about 1/3 of the race, but he was just a bit quicker than me, so I had to settle with 2nd. Then he made a small mistake entering start/finish and I could just get the inside before the left hander.
I had to defend hard at that point as he was still quicker.
Then both Brian and FreQ went off and I had Bara behind me.
That car was maybe harder to keep behind due to higher topspeed than the Lambo.
Eventualy Bara overtook me at Adelaide and we were heading towards Nurburg, with me on the raceline and he on the inside. I couldn't keep the line and he overtook. At some point he went wide and I could overtake him again.
I then had 3 cars behind me in a few seconds.
Bara overtook me again and he drove off, so I had FreQ behind.
He overtook me at the 180 degree turn and we were heading towards the Imola chicane side-by-side (Alonso/Heidfeld anyone? Grin). That was a great thing! Grin. In the end he overtook me and also drove off.
For the last 5 minutes I had Kerr behind again. I had to work very hard to keep him behind so I was glad when the race finished. great drive Brian.

For the last 20 minutes I had no tires left and my engine was at <70%  Shocked. I started with a 91% engine... whistling.

Crikey, this racing league lark never fails to surprise me. Never had a race like that before Smiley

Terrible quali left me languishing a bit but thought I could keep up with, and even challenge TT in front of me if I got up to pace. That was the plan, but from the very first lap I had Colin's fezza up my arse. I wasn't going to make it easy to pass but no way did I think I could defend for the whole 40 minutes wheelchair. He powered up to me on the straight and I parked at the hairpin every lap. If you imagine DC vs MS as Magny a couple of years back, you got it. Hope Colin didn't go all crazy DC on my ass Grin.

Colin, congrats on some fantastic racing. Many would have spanked their way past, but you showed admirable skill/patience angel .

Cheers for the steering set up tips.

It takes not far off a second a lap on some tracks I have tried.

Never before did I get below 1.32.5 around here. Today I was happily doing very low 1.31s in qualifying set up. i think it was 1.31.5 in real quali

I did find more time altering the front a little due to the extra control. It lowered the anti roll and increased the sping tension. It has great turn in and is awesome on the brakes. Tyre wear not an issue any more either.

It maybe was too low though. When you overtook me Ruskus it was the car catching the kerb and it wiped all my speed off.

Yeah I saw the sparks fly off, almost igniting my American junk  Grin. You had a few "moments" on those curbs before, so I was focussing there. So when you lost momentum I knew that that was the moment. The Estoril corner is too long for the Viper so I had to overtake before that.
