Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 261s

As the field approach the start finish line to start the race, Backo who is in 4th place, turns off his pit limiter and his speed becomes a little erratic.
As the race begins Backo, maybe thinking the limiter was on already, pushes the pit limiter button again and turns on the limiter, and slows down just as the rest of the field are ready to accelerate. Amazingly there is no pile-up, largely down to the quick reaction of the cars behind.

  • BACKOwarning — failure to follow the start procedure

Server replay time: 1161s

Backo is closing to lap Adam Parle as the as they drive up the hill towards Adelaide. Adam stays out wide and lets Backo through without delay, but as they exit the hairpin Backo moves across the track, almost as if he'd forgotten that Adam was there.
Adam goes as wide as possible and in fact gets two wheels on the grass to avoid an incident. Backo should really have left more room, especially to a backmarker who had just got out of his way so effectively.

  • BACKOpenalty — avoidable contact with Adam Parle — 2 places lost (plus 8 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 1639s

Backo has been following Brian Kerr for several laps. As they brake down into Adelaide Brian takes the defensive inside line. This allows Backo to get a better exit and on the run down to the chicane Backo pulls alongside. Backo actually gets his nose ahead before turn in and takes the position.
This is not normally an overtaking spot and this move seemed to surprise Brian, who had to scoot across the grasscrete after running out of track. |He then slides back onto the track and into the side of Backo who was taking a very tight line. Backo should have allowed more room considering the risky nature of the overtake; this could have prevented the contact.
However Backo had legally made the pass, even though it was a risky one, and Brian should have backed out of it when Backo got his nose ahead.

  • BACKOcaution — leave more room when alonside another car
  • Kerr (Brian Kerr)advice — a corner is lost if the overtaker is ahead by the turn in point

Server replay time: 1644s

Immediately after this they approach the 180 corner and Backo is on the outside of Brian and tries to outbrake around the wider line. Backo turns in too early though and contacts with the nose of Brian's car resulting in slight contact, and Backo runs wide losing the position.

  • BACKOwarning — leave more room when alonside another car

Server replay time: 1672s

Backo eventually catches up with Brian again and after closing up through the Senna chicane, he tries a late move up the inside into Chateau d'Eau.
Backo was a bit behind when he started the move and didn't get alongside before turn in.
Brian turns in as normal and there is contact with Backo taking the position.

  • BACKOpenalty — over ambitious overtake — 2 places lost (plus 8 for penalty points)

Bugger, pity that pops. At least it will, hopefully, close up the battle for second place in GTC (no reneging on your promises now  Wink). Crikey this season is flying by.

Balls - just realised that the GTC drivers title's already decided then with Pop's being away.

Not the way I wanted to win it.  If Pops hadn't had the missed Dubai (due to lack of connection) and disco'd at Estoril we'd more than likely be about level - as we were before Dubai.....These last 2 races should have been 2 crackers to decide it - it's more than a little anticlimactic. Sad

That said there's still the GT2/GTC drivers and team title up for grabs - so I'll be doing my best to grab them for the Legends and tie it all up before Imola.

oh dear, how embarassing...i ran out of fuel about 50 metres from the pit entrance  Embarrassed  :'(

Stupid ferking race engineer came over the radio and said 'pit in next lap' even though i was thinking 'hmm gonna be tight to do another lap'  Roll Eyes and knew i should have followed gazza as he made his stop.

Was having a cracking race, always fighting in top 5 and some great scraps along the way.
I made a few silly errors each time i was on the tail pipe of whoever i was battling on track, usually getting out of shape when the guy in front appeared to brake earlier than normal, prob from being under pressure.
Had a big scary off at Imola when someone discoed right in front of me and Gazza and we both flew off the track to avoid the car sitting in the entrance of the fast curves  Shocked

What a shame i went out the race like that as think it would have been a battle royale right upto the finish over 3rd-6th spots.  Was setting 1:31's offline so had the pace just not the luck  :'(
