(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: Driver's must complete over 50% race distance to score points.

This might have been mentioned before. Strange audio effect, sound swaps left to right, and has a phasing effect
And clues?

Think there's something wrong with this track. In the Caterham races, at least two drivers suffered disconnects, and yesterday I was the winner. In race 1, the moment the countdown started, GTL froze and I could do nothing. I see in the replay that my stationary car caused mayhem at the start - sorry about that. Would recommend avoiding this track from now on.
Twiddled my thumbs until Race 2. With Daz predictably neutered in qual, pole was up for grabs. Alas, took only ½ a lap for him to punch through the field and take up pursuit. With the track presumably difficult to overtake on, I had hoped to make things a little more difficult for Daz, but starting L4, I bounced over the outside curb in T1, losing momentum and putting him in position for a pass down the straight. Once in front, it was game over, as I could not hope to match his pace. Lost additional time twice exiting the hairpin, when the car threw absolute tantrums over the bumps, sending me onto the grass.
Surprised to find the Escort faster round here than a 320bhp Caterham - wonder if that's realistic? Sure the Escort's got a little more power, but being almost twice as heavy should more than negate that.

A bit like the Caterham, I don't get on too well with this car either, find it very unpredictable in its handling & frankly these two races were just totally forgettable. Crashed on lap 1 of race 1 killing the car & crashed twice more in race 2 & spent 2 laps in the pits getting repairs. Congrats to Daz on both wins & to the others who made the podiums. Big thanks to Tony for organising the GTL events this year, I have not competed too often on Wednesdays but have usually made the Monday races & in the main enjoyed them. This will be my last GTL race this year, but should be a regular next year with GTL being on Mondays. Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to all the GTLers.

Thanks to Tony for all of his backroom work throughout the year and I will even stretch that to say thanks for the experience in the Caterhams and these Escorts. I suspect that it is my ageing brain that simply cannot process things quickly enough to manage the power of these cars. I struggled through race 1 after the chaos at the start when it left me in 3rd place. But that slowly slipped as the race progressed and I was never "on the pace". My gearing just seemed to lack the top end speed of you other guys. The exit of the hairpin was probably the most scary part of the lap as the car refused to exit there under with any semblance of power or control During the quick quali for race 2 I tried a few different lines and used different gears through some corners. Using 4th instead of 3rd through the hairpin was a big step forward and I was saving a second per lap. Similarly through T1, provided that I got the entry right. But despite the improvements, and a best lap of 1:44, I was still way behind the rest of the field when even 4th gear failed me at the hairpin and stuffed me into the barrier. Enough was enough and my brain was hurting. Merry Christmas to all and looking forward to next season ( and the Christmas Special ).

Can only echo what has already been said about Tony's hard work in bringing us all the racing these last many years, and thanks to Kurt also for the results week after week. I can well understand that the frenetic Caterham gave many drivers, myself included, problems. Am surprised though that the same is the case with the Escort. To me it's been quite straightforward so far, as long as you treat it sensibly. Apart from the high curbs (which can give most cars problems), the only real trouble spot I found to be the hairpin exit, and that was mainly from going too hard on the throttle too early. Incidently, I used 2nd through the hairpin Clive, so astonished to learn you were in 4th?? In T1, I used 3rd, and that was on the brink of being too high - used 2nd early on in my praccy. Wonder if your gearing was much different from mine.

All,
Thank you all for your kind words. I really do appreciate the recognition that my humble efforts have garnered.
This series will continue sometime next year but I'm waiting on Lasse to provide dates for his series so that I can slot in around him.
Meanwhile, if there is a car or track that you want to see featured or an idea for a series in the future please get in touch and we can discuss.
Just leaves me wish all of you a happy holiday season, see you at Longford and then into 2023.
Cheers
WT

I've not been around here al long as some, but I will 100% join in on the chorus of thanks for Tony. As I recall, the Wednesday races were only really thought of with the demise of the NoGrip race nights, so for it to have lasted this long means we owe a huge debt of gratitude to those that have organised the races.
As Tony mentions, thanks also go to Kurt who brings the results online for us to peruse, always in very quick time.
My Wednesdays will maybe be a touch poorer going forward, we will see, but I am very grateful we will still catch up on the Monday.
Escort is quick, although I had not realised we had lapped quicker than the Caterham, interesting. In all honesty, I could not use all of the potential of that car here though!
Took my setup from Donington and adjusted the gearing and some damper settings, and it seemed OK. As Erling recounts, race 1 ended up being a bit lonely due to the carnage, but I did manage to push on and make a good lap or two.
Race 2 was looking ominous, most of the field in between myself and Erling and Geoffers on the front row....but I got a great launch, and was tucked up behind them in short order. Geoff had an off, leaving Erling and myself to fight on. As Erling said, just a very small error on the exit kerb of Old Hall and that was enough for me to engineer an overlap. I kept it neat for a few laps, then put the hammer down, and bar one spit off the road exiting the hairpin all was ok.
That hairpin exit is a bit iffy to be fair, a bump exists on the outside line that if you hit it with any throttle on it just throws you off. The bump does not seem to show on the track as much as the effect it has on the car, just looks like a ripple....

Yes, thanks to Kurt for the comprehensive results each week. You are very much like me, I love facts & figures. Ask me my opinion on something & I struggle, but I love researching or collating anything to do with facts & figures, must be something to do with how the brain works. For example I keep a record of all the online races that I have competed in since I started back in 2008, comes in handy when you need a setup for a particular car, just need to look back to when you last drove it.
