Moderator's Report

Psuedo makes a stab up the inside of Keith coming into Mansfield corner. Keith either doesn't see him or think he is further back than he is and turns into him. Somehow the Mini survives without being bounced off the track.

Incidents like this are somewhat unavoidable when cars with such huge disparities in performance race each other, but it would've been nice to see Keith leave some room for the Mini, knowing that he could simply out drag it on the following straight.

Great to be back ..Had a great battle with Bernie for the first ten laps until my downshifter button stared shifting two gears at a time so had to quit... Cadwell rocks!!!!
Cheers

Bad luck dan, you had me under some real pressure for the first few laps. Think we were doing more or less identical lap times just the odd mistake here and there making a couple of 10th difference.
You were pushing me all the way and I couldn't have gone any faster.

This track has some issues - its not finished!! I fell 'off' twice...see reply time 1531 & 2333 Huh _ anyway - maybe something to note if used in the future...
However, i did like this track, very quick on the straits, hard to overtake, looks like the mini should have been the choice here maybe?

Anyway, had a few good laps with a couple of drivers, but it was all over too soon - got tapped by SJ i think and spun, but at least he waited - thanks, but it was an accident, you should have gone  Cheesy

Man what a race again.

Start went just as Adam said, I could power past the Cortina.
Dunno what happened on lap 2 - we were flying round T2 when the Falon slowed up unexpectedly (I had to be close to stand any chance of getting by under braking down the hill) - there was contact and surprise surprise the Lotus came off 2nd best.

In lap 2 I went into Charlies and I actually went through there quite fast, but I had some oversteer which slowed me down a bit. Then you hit me and I had to use all my steering lock to keep going straight.

A few laps later I went downhill after Gooseneck but hit the grass while drifiting out of the corner which made me fly to the other side of the track and onto the grass. I was rolling down the hill and couldn't brake. Luckily I missed Pribeiro who was passing me at that moment  sweatdrop.

After that it was kinda lonely, because Simon drove his Mini into a ditch  lol.

But then MJ was closing in fast and about lap 18 he was right behind me with 7 laps to go. I had to push hard to keep him behind and try to keep the inside shut. At one point he tried via the outside, but the power of the Falcon got the better of the Alfa Grin.

I heard Simon say through Team Speak that he was gaining 2s a lap on MJ and me, so it was gonna be close. I wasn't trying to hold up MJ more so Simon could come close, as I was pushing me a.. off trying to keep going Smiley.

In the end Simon even overtook MJ which was a brilliant end to a great race.

This track is so much fun in the Falcon, it's like rallyracing Grin.

Grats Bara...again Cheesy.

P.S. I saw you spin once Psuedo, rolling down the hill  Grin

Fantastic nights racing again. Left sweating like a mofo once more.

I got royally gang raped by two shark buggers, no doubt using their teamspeak to good effect  Roll Eyes

Qualied a good 5th with Bernie in 2nd and Adam 6th, it was looking like a strong Legends team effort.

Got upto 4th in race but on lap 10, got one wheel on grass on the fastest track section and around she went, costing me 20 seconds on the slippery grass.  Sad

Rejoined 11th but fought my way back upto Ruskus in 6th or 7th? after Shark binned it in the trees under braking.
Then sat glued to his rear bumper for something like 10+ laps losing 2+ seconds a lap with Shark a good 11+ seconds behind but gaining through my lost time. Jeffs Falcon became the widest Yank job in the country as he made sure i wasnt getting past despite me getting alongside on several occasions. The beast had enough horses to get it out of trouble everytime
I was losing tons of time in the fastest sector T1, having to seriously lift everytime to avoid his wayward rear-end. tank
With about a lap to go, the last chance i had to check my mirror, the No,1 mini of Baracus was sat behind me with Shark just behind him, then as we came around to the uphill chicane for the last time, Jeff conveniently Roll Eyes got out of shape forcing me to brake hard and head to the right...i saw a minis wing come up alongside and eased off the throttle thinking it was the lapping Baracus, but it was Jeffs partner in crime...bloody shark ! 2guns
I swore rather loudly to myself at that point  Grin and had to watch in disgust as their handy work cost me the two places that my pace should have had  :'(
My rage was tempered by my mutual admiration for their crafty team race craft shifty , well done gents, it was classic close-fighting historics racing, a great fight with Jeff and a few others along the way. punk

Well done Baracus and Bernie  thumbup1

Another Fun evening....Thats a good track...hard work but loads of fun.

Qualified ok 10th i think (infront of all mini's except baracus's V8 version Grin). Felt good round here but ran very slightly wide on the sweeping right hander and two cars rocketed passed. I then did a Psuedo and fell off the road a couple of times leaving myself last place (again). Managed to catch and pass a couple of cars within 4 laps then spent the rest of the time on my own untill I caught Kieth's very wide Falcon for the last 3 laps..no way past...got alongside a couple of times but then he just pulled away again...enjoyed the scrap though...even though it was only short.

Well done podium and especially Baracus....I have no idea how you can make that mini go so fast..Brilliant.

That was brilliant fun and a fabulous way to end the season. I had a hoot in the Mini. Well done to Baracus for the win in the Mini, brilliant pace.

Sorry about the server crash during practice, no idea what happened there. Haven't seen an actual software crash of the dedicated server for quite a while, but thankfully it was a one off and we managed to race fine to the flag.

Did my usual rubbish job in qualifying at least a second down on my race pace so was looking to do some overtaking in the Mini. Pace lap ended with a big concertina and pile-up on the start line. No idea what happened but the mid to back field lost quite a bit of time getting going again.

Bedded myself into the race after that taking 2 minis in the first few laps and set off on a mission to see how fast I could drive the English tinpot. Had some fun with Assassino in his Alfa for a while until he tried to climb the mountain via the "experts path" and I went by.

After that I chased down Jeff in his rally Falcon. Managed to catch him as his tyres were gone after about lap 2 Grin and my pace picked up too. MJ after his off round the loop had also caught us both up as Jeff's Falcon was running slower and slower, but with no way by MJ and I were both sitting very close to Jeff wondering how to get by. Then as we came round the second last corner for the first time in the entire race (happened a few times in qually) my Mini snapped left under braking. This threw me into the tree/hedge/tire wall and I got stuck for about 10-15 seconds on something, thought it was a tree but I think it was the tyre wall. Managed to get myself off that and with 5 laps to go thought that was my fun over.

Ha ha ha, no no no. Ho ho ho. Grin Grin Grin

On a mission to catch MJ and Jeff up I stormed up towards them with Jeff unable to maintain a decent pace getting the gap down was like taking candy from a baby. 2 laps to go and I was back within striking distance of the pair and laughing at the fact that MJ hadn't been able to get past Jeff either. Only thing was with 2 laps to go Baracus the leader came up to lap me. Noooo I thought, there goes my chance, let Baracus through on the S/F straight with precisely 2 to go and hoped for a miracle. Well I'm sure Baracus has been called many things but half way round that lap the miracle man himself slows down and lets me unlap myself to setup a barnstorming final lap with Jeff, MJ and myself. (Thanks again for that very nice bit of sporting behaviour as the last lap really was worth it for both fun and position!)

Last lap and I still have a little work to be right on the duelling duos exhaust pipes, but thankfully Jeff is having real difficulty maintaining any decent pace. I get a great run on the pair down towards the bombhole and as Jeff comes in to brake he gets out of shape trying to keep his tank on the track. With such a great bit of extra momentum and Jonzo having to taking a little avoiding action I seize the opportunity and squeeze my Mini through shouting at myself over TeamSpeak to pedal faster to keep Jonzo behind. For a moment I thought I had the pair of you to get a double miracle, but one will do, especially as it was the old pirate Jonzo. Tongue I had just enough momentum to get into the mountain first and the rest of the lap involved trying to push Jeff's car out the way as he crawled painfully through the twisty final section. Thanks to both of you, that was a real treat of a last lap.

I thoroughly enjoyed that and it was nice to race at my original home circuit (haven't done that since some motorbike game on the Atari ST).

Also very pleased at the turnout again and the variety on the grid. That circuit really evened out the cars quite well, although it was nigh on impossible to get past the yank tanks, it was mighty to see the Mini win.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh............Thats the second time in 2 weeks, that my game has crashed just before crossing the start line.   Angry  Angry

Ah, that partly explains the chaotic end to the pace lap. Shocked

I also had someone behine me who also clearly didnt know the start procedure, as he kept ramming and trying to overtake me on the warm up lap............Grrr.............

I had a grandstand seat for that... but you may want to check the qualifying results and replay...

Brilliant fun race and a great way to end the season. Knew tyres would be a big problem and tried to nurse them a little bit over the first few laps but that meant I had Keith's Mustank and various flyweights all over me. Middle phase of the race was just trying not to make any silly mistakes as I gradually eeked out a gap of a few seconds over Keith.

Towards the end I was starting to catch Phil G's Mini again as the tyres went through their 'icy' phase and started to come back to me a bit. But behind me MadMac was catching me fast in his Alfa and I had to make my Falcon super wide during the last two laps to hold on to 13th and one of my most satisfying finishes of the season. Grin

Very well done to Ghostspeed on their clean sweep of team titles, it seems Team Shark were second best in all three categories this season so I hope we can challenge a bit stronger next.

It's been a fun season with many highlights and a pleasure racing with you all. Nice to see quite a few new faces join us this season I hope you continue to race with us. Stayed tuned for the start of Season 3 (currently slated for 9th August). Next week we have a couple of short sprint races to try out standing starts, so I hope you all can join in and enjoy a race in the 76 cars.

Don't forget if you want to get a new skin into the revised skin pack for Season 3 then you need to have submitted it by 28th July. See the UKGTL skin pack board for details.

Cheers mate!! I'm sure were all looking forward to doing it again Wink

Really love this track. Once you find that flow its so satisfying. My Mini setup was fantastic... I could hurl it into corners and trail brake really deeply (not that you need to brake much!) and it would just do what I told it to! Felt like playing a codemasters game at one point!

I surprised myself with the speed of that FWD midget today tho really!

Sorry to MJ to interfere with your race like that - I just couldnt see that I could get by your battle without putting you both off so decided to back off. Suppose I shouldnt have even passed Si...

See you all soon!
