On Shark's recommendation, bought Race today from PC World. £19.99 containing a DVD with the Race programme and another with the Caterham Expansion Pack. Duly installed and registered with Steam. Agree about the Caterham pack - good game. Race isn't too bad ,either, but a bit arcadey. So far so good.
Had a break and then went back and loaded up the game again. Couldn't play Race or Caterham without first logging on to Steam. Is this correct? Surely I don't have to go onto the internet to be able to play the game offline? Or am I doing something wrong.....

As far as im aware yes!!
Its the same with Half Life 2, every time you want to play a game Steam must be loaded...... it auto checks for updates which is good, but yes..... a pain in the xxx

You can set steam to run in offline mode so that it doesn't need to be online...but you still need steam running....

Sucks

Weird thing was, Steam wouldn't work at all offline until I'd logged on about 6 times. After that it started to work in offline mode and now I don't have any problems with it. Very strange. Caterhams are a real blast to drive, though.
