Season 41 - SCX67 Cup – Round 7 - Road America

For the 7th race of the 1967 Sports Cars Cup we visit Road America near Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
The track covers 640 acres (2.6 km2) within Wisconsin’s Kettle Moraine. It currently hosts over 400 events a year. Road America has not been modified and retains its original configuration of 4.048 miles (6.515 km) in length and consisting of 14 turns. The track features many elevation changes, along with a long front stretch where speeds approaching 200 mph (320 km/h) may be reached.

Please check the Season 41 details regarding rules and the 1967 Sports Cars Championship pages in particular.
In order to add an element of realism, and to hopefully reduce the possibility of rear-end incidents, the brake light patch will be used  eek

First Online race in these in some time.  A good scrap with cookie developing, until I slipped up.  Braked late, and managed not to miss the Mirage ahead of me.  An apologee to Cookie for the bump. Embarrassed  Much of the race thereafter looked deserted, but it's a great track for making lonely laps.

Quite lonely in 2nd place. Greg was in a league of his own up front lapping consistently 4 seconds a lap quicker. My Chap2D had enough power to keep the others behind me and the points were a bonus, helped mostly by a low turn out on the grid. I didn't suffer any warp issues today. A fun track but it's clear that I need a better set up to get through the long right hander with any sort of speed.

Grants to all finishers. Cookie, what happened at the end? You vanished.

Congrats Pete and Fulvio! It´s good to see you return Pete. I hope you can continue without any computer problems.

It´s a bit of a shame we didn´t have more drivers. I used the event for a long practice session. I do enjoy driving this car and track combination. I would have needed to drive a little better and a little wiser if Yannick had showed with a setup he was comfortable with.

I managed to lower my best lap times a little bit and my setup is somewhat easy and forgiving. I was never able to get my braking as well as I would like for Canada Corner. I hit the haybales there once. I got a lot of practice using 1st or 2nd gear for various turns.

I would attribute how well I am doing to my greater interest in this mod and my experience. I´ve gotten a lot better feel for this mod the past 2 years. I think Yannick would often beat me if he entered qualifying with a setup he liked and got a little practice beforehand. I just think I have more setups and more experience with the mod.

Thanks for the fun gentlemen.

You know that some people are different
Now ain't that a crying shame
Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same
