Hello,

Dave forgive me if this is irrelevant and feel free to delete if you wish.

TPG Racing has created a "Motorsports Design Group" to create addon cars for GTR2.  We are currently working on a basic FIA 2005 Mod which will include:

05 Maserati MC12 Teams by MDG
- Vitaphone Racing FIA skins + tweaked engine
- JMB Racing FIA skins + season 5 physics

05 Chevrolet Corvette C6-R Teams by MDG
- Corvette Racing ALMS skin + MDG physics

05 Aston Martin DBR9 Teams by MDG
- Russian Age Racing FIA skins + MDG physics

05 Chevrolet Corvette C5-R Teams by MDG
- GLPK Carsport new FIA skin only
- Renstal Excelsior new FIA skin only

Yah I know, the C6-R did not run in FIA during 2005, that was a concession to people who want to drive it.  In our Season 5 (currently underway) we are using the tweaked MC12 and C6-R to collect some data for refinement.  People have been pretty happy so far with the MC12, it's a little better but it's not a 550 killer.  The C6-R is showing to be better than the C5-R, but only the Vette lovers are driving it so we're still not sure about it's full potential.

If you want to follow this project, or would be interested in being a tester, you can go here and learn more:

Sounds good Steve, i'll follow it with interest. Cool

I've almost given up waiting for the never ending mod releases to come out of RSC with their attempts at adding every car known to man without actually producing any  Roll Eyes

Sounds like we might want to talk some more about this either before Season 6 or after it. Grin

wow...been busy...

If you go here:

http://dedrs3.racingservers.com/mdg/

You can download three stand alone cars we are working on.  The cars are:

Corvette C6-R
Maserati MC-12 (fixes engine)
DB9R

We are actually using the Maserati right now and an older version of the C6-R right now in Season 5.  These are still beta development cars, but not too bad.

Sounds great Steve, thanks alot. How do they compare to the rest of the GT Field? ie reasonably competitive or clear front runners?

I ask as they will get poo-poo'd here no doubt if much faster than the rest.  Roll Eyes
Though if all 3 models are similar in pace, they would make great additions to our choice of cars.  Cool

Let me put it this way,

None of the three cars are faster than the Ferrari 550.  The Maserati MC12 has been very fast in qualifying, but over the course of an endurance race tire wear I believe is an issue.  The Americans love the C6-R but some people say that it doesn't have the top end speed needed to be a 550 killer.  The DBR9 has not been introduced to league racing yet.

Basically we need more people to download the cars and give us feedback so we can polish them.

You might have a point there...  surrender
Should have checked about the mod first.

GT2 class isn't it?

Come to think of it neither is the mclaren f1...

there is a GT1 spec aston that the factory (and prodrive) race at le mans

and a GT3 spec one for the FIA GT3 championship which aero wise looks similar but engine wise not! (600bhp vs 450 bhp odd)!!!

I dont think the GT3 has the venturi as i raced against them at mugello last year in a 911. Same with corvette CR6...a GT1 and a GT3 version.
