Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Pm WT for series download

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (33 laps)

Track: Circuit Gilles Villenueve (GP), Montreal, Canada

Car restrictions: Check your car availability here

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit stops: May be required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Sorry, but I have to miss this one too.

Got a cortisone shot in my left sacroiliac joint this afternoon for the third time in 6 weeks and this time the doctor hit "good".

No activities possible at all at the moment.

Let's see what the year brings. An inpatient rehabilitation measure is requested and in the worst case surgery  Tongue

Geoff & Kurt; sorry to hear about your troubles.  Hope you both get better soon!

Finally a track which, if not directly suited for the Sierra, then at least wasn't hopeless for it.

Race was intense, if almost static, apart from the first couple of laps. Managed to tease Daz a little, by stealing the lead when he bogged down at the start, which is sooo easy to do in the Sierra.  We swapped positions a couple of times until he made it stick.  Subsequently he only stretched the gap very slowly, and I got the distinct impression he was 'controlling the race', just staying sufficiently in front.  About the biggest red cloth you can wave in front of me, not that I could do anything about it - went as fast as I could.

We both pitted on lap 17, when the gap was up to 9 secs, but the stop closed it again. In stint 2, it never was much more than around 4 secs, apparently because Daz had to save fuel.  Had a decent gap to the cars behind, so 2nd wasn't threatened, unless I screwed up.

Grats to Daz on the win & Matt on the podium - and thanks for providing the server!

In testing, the Sierra proved to be the top car for the circuit but I found it too much of a handfull so I went for the Holden which I knew was slower but, in my hands, handled better. Anywau I want to save my Sierra drives for other circuits.

Had two cuts on the first two laps  taz, at the same corner, so had to drive very carefully for the remainder of the race. Don't know what ailed Clive but happy to steal a place from him  shifty

Yes, all a bit odd for me.

I had decided it had to be the Sierra for this, mainly to start getting the drives in it out of the way! I had done low 34s in testing, with the idea that more was to come, but nevertheless knew that I would not have too much advantage if any when I saw the times the Erling was doing.

As he said, initial bit of needed wheelspin for the launch was ok, but then it bogged. I believe I was running longer gears, and that would not have helped for sure. We had a nice little battle for the first 5-6 laps, before I finally made a move that stuck, and then was being very careful with tyres as the wear rate was pretty big as the longer gears I was running needed me to just get a bit of wheelspin exiting the tighter so as not to bog on those as well. I as comfortable though, and was able to gently pull away. By half distance the tyres were beyond their best though, and despite still carrying fuel for another 5 laps at least, I pitted on lap 17 for new boots and a top up.

First problem was I crashed on the way in, had to slam the brakes on to avoid a stop go, and put it in the wall on the left. Then didn't turn off repairs, and also had a moment of 'how much fuel do I need? Oh that'll do....'

Was relieved to have no stop/go, and also to still be in front. Took it quite steady for a couple of laps just to warm the tyres nicely (it works in my head at least), during which time Erling did close the gap a bit. At this point, with 12 laps or so to go, I realised that XD had me 1.1 laps short of fuel to the finish. Oh dear. So, the rest of the race was running high gears wherever I could, and a bit of early lift, all whilst trying to still go as fast as I could as Erling was only 2 seconds or so back at intervals. Ended up being a really tough finish to be honest, as a small error would allow the car to bog and lose time, which I could not afford given the pace Erling was running at.

Ended the race with 0.3 laps of fuel left in the tank, much too close for comfort!

Grats to Erling for great race pace, and Matt for the podium finish.

Grats to the Sierra formation flying club up front.

My delusional plan was to rely on the Sierras either destroying their tyres by pushing too hard, or having to drive slow enough for the growling Commodore to give them some grief....fat chance with Daz, Erling and Matt flying around the island!!

Interesting that Tony picked up 2 cuts in the first laps because I did too and I'm still not exactly sure why I ran wide on good tyres, and yet managed the rest of the race without changing tyres or any incidents??
From the slowly growing gap it looked like I had a little pace in hand over Tony's Holden and I was content to run with a full tank of fuel to reach 2/3rds distance before pitting and taking on enough fuel for the final 1/3rd. With a full tank of 120litres that would give me 23 laps a flawed mental calculation suggested that 40 litres in the tank would suffice at the pitstop...I guess you spotted the error??  I needed 60 litres to complete the race  Undecided a fact which became very clear as I exited the pits!! what a muppet!!
The second stop was what gave the position to Tony and with worn tyres I could not push hard enough to find my earlier race pace, especially under braking, so I cruised home just to complete the race and quite thankful that Daz and Erling lapped me again to save doing another lonely lap.

I had nowhere near the pace of Daz and Erling, but I seemed to have enough over Tony and Clive to stay in front.
After my pit It occurred to me that Clive might be going for a non stop  Shocked

I was catching, but would I catch and pass in time? fortunately he did make a stop, and no drama  Cheesy
