Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Pm WT for series download

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (25 laps)

Track: Grand Prix Arena Circuit (Wing Pits) 2011, Silverstone, England

Car restrictions: Check your car availability here

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit stops: May be required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

As Tony is likely busy smacking the daylights out of little white balls
I am going to start the server at 19:20 for Practice as per the page.

Lost my controls at the race start, so no other option than to quit  censored

At least it was on a Silverstone version I well and truly hate, no matter how much praise SkySport's commentators are heaping on it - apologies to all you Brits..  Wink

Grats to those that finished, just sorry that I had to quit early.

In hindsight, maybe I should have been a little more concerned during practice, when the accelerator did not close the gas off going into a corner. Instead it left maybe 20% of throttle open...with obvious consequences. But when I quit to the garage and restarted all seemed OK.

About 3 laps into the race it  happened again into Copse....1st track limits warning  Sad. next few corners were OK again and then got it again ...another warning  cursing The final straw was Stowe and  3rd warning just in time to dive into the pits for a penalty stop  taz taz

I listened to Tony and Matt go past and exited in last place and 15 secs behind. hopefully the extra speed of the Cossie would drag me back into contention. Well it started to nibble away at the gap and then the problem reared it's head again and I ran VERY wide and spun the car...not a happy bunny!!!! So I quit.
I hope Erling's woes are not related to mine!!! Bad luck E, not a nice feeling sitting on the grid with zero response to inputs......been there and done that too!

It was clear that I have an issue with my accelerator on the Fanatec pedal set. I think that it feels mechanical rather than software related. possibly it needs a clean up on the pot? The brake is a pressure pad and not a movement based sensor, so that should be fine. Has anyone else had any experience of Fanatec pedals and cleaning them?

As Erling was not present on the grid when the lights went green, his drive will not be counted in the car drives roster.

That was fun  Grin  I was a bit faster in the Jelly Mould, but I was not going to match the times others were posting
and my next fastest car was the little Beemer strangely, so went with that.
Great all race long battle with Tony, but as usual the pit stop I messed up, and I had damage (huh?) repaired
and filled up with fuel and new tyres, so lost 30 secs or so, was slowly catching Tony again, and went sideways
somewhere and picked up another cut, and so a stop and go with only a couple of laps remaining

Not my fave version of SIlver either. But I like Tony's plan to follow F1 23 where possible.

I think mine is a flaky connection in the wheel's USB cable, as the cable is breaking up around the connector.  Have looked at Thrustmaster's available spare parts for it, but can't find the cable.  Seems crazy you would have to scrap the entire wheel because of a faulty cable.  Maybe time to get that Fanatec wheel, but with probable upcoming retirement from racing, it's maybe silly to spend that kind of money on a wheel.

Have pedals from Fanatec myself, but - knock on wood - not had any problems with them yet, so can't advise on what to do.  Have noticed a few times when I was behind you, that your brake lights were on in places I wouldn't expect it, so maybe part of the problem, or another issue?

Good result, no way I was going to beat Daz's Sierra, but not the most exciting of races after Clive stopped chasing me early on.

Didn't do much preparation for this, briefly tried 3 cars yesterday afternoon, the Sierra which I just could not get on with around Silverstone, just determined to understeer off the track at every corner, the Toyota which was very easy to drive but slow & the Merc which was somewhere in between but decently fast.

Very happy with my qually time, only 2s slower than Daz! but more than 3s faster than I had achieved in my brief test session. Sorry to lose Erling at the start reducing the field to 6, then Kurt too early in the race & then Clive left shortly after leaving just 4. Daz soon disappeared into the distance & although I was planning not to change tyres, I was sure Daz would, his speed advantage would more than overcome the extra time in the pits. I did briefly lead after the stops but was soon caught, Daz deciding to shadow me for a few laps after that before making the inevitable overtake. However I gifted him the lead when I got a little oversteer at Aintree & clipped one of the marker posts causing a half spin. A couple of laps later I got 2 cut tracks in one lap & an S/G so finished a bit further behind than I should have.

Congrats to Daz on an untroubled win & to Tony & Matt for completing the finishers.  clap clap clap

Clive, I'm sure a clean will probably sort your pedal issues, however on the odd occasions when my Fanatecs have not been working correctly I have found that it is usually the USB cable that needs unplugging at both the PC end & the pedal end & reseating. Always seemed to cure the issue for me.

Thanks for the inputs guys.

Geoff might have nailed it. On Sunday I discovered that our 2 cats had been ( probably ) chasing a fly through my PC room and they had found it necessary to re arrange/move a lot of the cables USB/network/headphones etc. Nothing appeared to have actually been disconnected, but.............................. Roll Eyes.
