Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Pm WT for series download

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (24 laps)

Track: Yas Marina (GP), United Arab Emirates

Car restrictions: Check your car availability here

Time of Day Setting: 18:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2
Pit stops: May be required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: The start lights at this circuit do not show a green for go. Drivers are advised to have their start countdown turned on.

A mostly static race for me.

Small mistake at the end of L1 let Clive past, and there was no way to hang with the straight-line speed of the Merc.  Thus he pulled out a 10-secs lead over a number of laps and mostly kept it there.  My not yet decided pit strategy quickly became one of no tyre change.  Clive obviously on similar strategy although he did pit before me. My only hopes were that his driving style would fry his tyres, and/or that he would fumble the pit stop  Cheesy   Neither the case though. My own stop wasn't the fastest, but even an optimum one wouldn't have changed anything.

Grats to Daz & podium, to Daz for Championship, and to Clive for 3rd  clap clap clap

An interesting series with some nice cars.  Big thanks to Tony for the organizing & ideas

Grats to Daz and Erling for the series places. My 3rd place can only be because Geoffers has been absent, but hey I'll take it  Wink.

I did not really have a game plan for this race, but I only had the Merc left so that decision was made. As usual very little pre race practice, but on the server I could get a prediction of 25 laps on a tank of fuel.......could that be stretched another few %?  Decided to suck it and see as the race started, so if the chance to save fuel revealed itself I could go that route, but if I had to push then I knew that a splash of 30ltrs would get me to the flag and as for tyres...who knew lol.
As Erling said above a small wobble at the end of lap 1 offered a not to be missed opportunity to pass, it is not often that Erling makes them.....so I nailed the gas and went for it.
I set a target of 10 secs for a cushion, hoping that then I could ease off and save fuel, but Erling refused to slow down and each time I tried an economy lap he closed the gap!! By half distance I was getting worried that Erling could carry that pace and still avoid a stop. I Actually pitted a couple of laps early, hoping that with 35 ltrs of fuel I could really max out the revs and chase Erling down in the fianl laps. Imagine my HUGE relief when he pitted on the very next lap   Grin Grin.
It was nice to take the Merc to the red line on the final laps and enjoy the speed, even on worn tyres. Sorry for pipping Tony to 3rd spot on the final points tally  Roll Eyes

Enjoyed the series, all the cars were nice to drive in their own way, and it's been a couple of years since I did a series that followed the F1 circus so that was good.

Had planned on a last hurrah with the Sierra, so stuck with that. Was watching onboard with Ziu in practise, so his pace in qualifying was no surprise at all, and I knew I had some left in the car. One low fuel run got me the pole, which somewhat decided the order of things going forward....

Short run to turn 1 meant that as long as I got the car off the line at all I should be ok, and so it proved. From there I had to keep the Mercs off me until the straight, where the power of the Sierra meant I could naff off good and proper.

I didn't bother overthinking the strategy this time, just filled the car to the brim, stopped when the tyres had cried enough punishment and I was losing laptime I stopped for new boots and to put enough fuel in to get to the finish. This meant I was flat chat all race, not done that much this season as it has been about strategy, but this one was a case of using the speed of the car to do the job.

Been a long season, but nice to do I thought. Many thanks as always to the efforts that Tony has put in on this, I do appreciate this takes time and energy to get done and I am very grateful for it. I Am Not Worthy thumbup1
