Of course, better to test with what would be the actual race server Smiley  but if required, UKGPL11 should also remain up overnight/until Sunday if required for other practice.
UKGPL11 :  217.155.118.42

Looks as though GPLrank also down.

Yes, I just try to find out if this is a permanent or temporary solution.

Looks to be working again with the standard igor.gplrank.de
(although igor.gplrank.de & nrt02.gplrank.de both resolve to the same public IP address, so presumably either will work at the momet).

The resulting IP address may have changed - when UKGPL11 started the other day via iGOR, was instructed to send updates elsewhere.

I managed to join both UKGPL_08 and UKGPL_11 using "igor.gplrank.de". Hopefully everything will be OK now.

Yes I just made a complete (empty SSD) mint 2.21 install on my test pc (55min to test full grid Spa67) with iGOR "igor.gplrank.de" np.

New kernel 5.19 and NVidia 525 cost 20 min as a file was missing
Quote
sudo apt-get install gcc-12
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/bin/gcc gcc /usr/bin/gcc-12 12

Thanks for your help so far via PM. Alas, my experience this time around is not so smooth. Previously, I've been able to install Mint, Wine, GPL and go for a drive in under an hour as you describe here. That was using Mint 20.x  I'm not having such a smooth time of it with Mint 21.1

I got close with 21.1 XFCE but had no force-feedback. For me, Cinnamon seems to be the only version of Mint to support this. Cookie, which do you get to work with FFB?

At what point did you run those lines in Terminal? Before or after installing Wine?

As you can tell, racing today is not going to happen for me. I hope to be back before Tuesday's 55 race but I'm sorry to say that UKGPL07 has died. Something is throttling the system and it freezes after about 10 minutes despite all temps being fine. I've tried three times to install different versions of Linux but they all die beofre completing the installation.

I got so such a low point the other day, I actaully put my Windows Installation USB into the machine. Then I realised that nothing in life is ever so bad that you have to stoop to such a level. I turned the machine off, had a beer and all was good again.

See you all soon.

I use XFCE and the FFB has nothing to do with wich flavour your desktop has, wine 6.03 has definitely FFB, but you must check the box in GEM...

The extra file gcc12 has nothing to do with wine, but with an new kernel and the last NVidia driver, both not necessary for our game...

You need nothing extra to start an .exe just right click on it and choose "open with..." -check "user defined" and write "wine" make it permanent
