Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Pm WT for series download

Track: Oulton Park (Fosters)

Cars allowed: Austin A35

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race: 20:40 (31 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

Daz, Erling and Fulvio have to take a mandatory drive-thru.

That race did not go according to plan!!!

Mid race I was attacked by a wild animal. Perhaps not so much "wild" as "livid and disgruntled". I had not closed the door to my room properly and one of our cats had clearly just returned from a trip outside where it had been raining heavily. A totally waterlogged cat thought that, as a domestic servant, I should be made aware of her discomfort and the best way to do that was to land on my lap like a giant wet sponge and demand some attention.
I don't know about you guys, but I find simracing difficult with a soaking crotch and my car control suffered.

Up until then I was enjoying throwing A30 around and knowing that 3 of the 4 cars ahead were doing a drive through, life felt good.

Maybe Goodwood will be on a dry day???

So I am in last place just going around in circles going at my blistering pace when on lap 18 I was dodging lapping cars as usual when a yellowish car was behind me. I tried to get out of the way at the kink and went to the right as far as possible. I got stuck on the berm somehow and couldn't go anywhere, so I used the ultimate weapon rule and bailed.

Oulton Park has never been a favorite of mine, given its very unforgiving nature; always ready to punish the slightest transgression with the killer curbs.  This time however, in addition to being very challenging and tricky, it was actually good fun powersliding the car through the corners.

Daz got a somewhat wobbly start, allowing me to snatch the lead.  10 exciting laps of very close racing followed, 8 of them in front of Daz. Kudos to him for keeping it very clean - very close, but never any contact.  I did try not to shut the doors too firmly, unless he was very decidedly behind me; never quite sure if he was going for move or not.  He did get alongside or even ahead a few times, but backed out sooner before the corner at T1 - this explains 2 of the lead swaps Kurt  Smiley

Daz was clearly quicker, but it's very difficult to overtake a similar car here, unless its driver makes a mistake. Eventually, the slightest of wobbles from me exiting T1 gave Daz the opportunity to get past.  Once I lost the tow after a couple of laps, it was not possible to keep up anymore.  Swapped places again when Daz went for his drive-thru, apparently as he was coming up on back markers.  A few laps later it was my turn, and we swapped places for the final time.

Grats to Daz & Matt.   Commiserations to Clive, although I would have paid good money to see your antics with the cat.. Grin

Yes, I did not feel confident to try that pass on the brakes into T1 Erling, there just wasn't enough of my car in front, or the extra braking performance over you, for it to have been a clean pass. So kind of stuck around looking for a way past. Really enjoyed the close racing though, having such small cars meant we were very much nose to tail for corner after corner, awesome fun. Can only be done with a consistent and smooth driver in front  thumbup2
