RACE ONE
Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race: 20:30 (20 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Driver's must complete over 50% race distance to score points.

I didn't bother with race 2 as I am so far off the pace with these compared to other cars

One reason is because I do a setup assuming they are front wheel drive, and they are....err 4 wheel drive
That is not the whole reason though. If I take the default I am much the same pace.

I am plainly "missing something" I don't find them particularly challenging to drive, and I like them
it's not the track as I am carp anywhere. Iwill do some testing to see if can find the mystery times.

I am inclined to agree with you Matt, these cars are a real challenge for me.

Unlike other cars ( and perhaps my driving style  Roll Eyes), I find that I have to brake much earlier, although maybe not too heavily, and get the car setup and turned in to the apex. Then smoothly getting on the power EARLY seems to shave lumps off of my lap times even though it feels slower.

Race 1 was embarrassing and disappointing after I tapped Geoffer's rear end in the Esses, just enough to send him off to the right. I waited, and waited and waited as Geoff recovered and I was beginning to wonder if he had quit??? Eventually he appeared in the mirror and swept past to leave me in the dust.

Any thoughts of getting involved in the real action were a distant hope, even on the grid, but after giving away 30+ seconds on lap 1 it was a no-hoper.
I did catch a struggling Matt late in the race but trying to find a clean pass was very difficult. Until on the penultimate (?) lap Matt got it a bit wrong at the Esses and I was able to slip past. Hard luck Matt  Undecided.

Race 2 started with a little farce when I qualified on pole because Matt had gone home and Geoff did not really bother when he was capable of 1:09's.
So OK I thought I have a clear track and a small advantage off the grid so I wonder how long I can stay in the lead? Maybe 2-3 laps was my best estimate, given the pace of the resident aliens.
I think Geoff did a stirling job keeping the hounds at bay for a few laps, but my slender 1 sec lead vanished each time I made a small error....there were a lot of small errors!!
Pushing as hard as I dared I was finding tenths here and there, but still could not get into the 1:09's. I felt that when I got to half distance still leading that was as good as a win!! but I pushed on as Daz slipped past Geoff and closed all too rapidly to threaten the pass.
I held him off for a lap or two and even did the old switcheroo into T1 when he made his first pass  Grin I enjoyed that!. but it was only delaying the inevitable and soon Daz was past.
Geoffers was next and he too went past when I made ( another ) error. The only satisfying thing was that I was keeping them in sight and with a few laps to go I might just sneak a podium......until Geoff took a sudden interest in the local fauna and dived off into the boondocks at T2!!!!!
After that I was gifted a second place and still had Daz in sight, although I strongly suspect that he was cruising and simply managing the gap.  Wink

Two very different races. In race 1 qual, I couldn't replicate my one offline sub-1:09 lap. Otherwise I would have snatched pole from Daz which could have been fun  Grin (providing of course he didn't up his game...)

Kept 2nd after the start, and the main threat from behind; Geoffers, was neutralized when he & Clive came together on L1.  Competing with Daz was as usual as futile as taking on a Borg Cube singlehandedly.  He soon disappeared and the race went lonely.

Race two - mayhem or madness; not sure what best describes it.  'Luck' & no-qual placed me last. Daz soon past Tony, while I had a harder time. He placed himself cleverly, putting me at disadvantage in every corner, having to yield. Took a few laps to make an attempt stick, going under the bridge and through the following corners - without too much paint exchanged..

Chased after duelling Daz & Geoff, and when they touched, the latter lost enough momentum for me to slip past.  Wound up behind Daz at the chicane, which he for some reason was very slow through. Had to back right off, which brought Geoffers in position for an attack in T1. Unfortunately it sent me flying off and back to last. Geoff waited, while the main beneficiary - Tony, had gone ahead. Had to hunt him down and try to find a way past again.  With Geoffers closing in, I had another go under the bridge, but this time it was no-go.  Tony overshot the righthander, knocking me off.  He courteously waited, but the podium was now 10 secs up the road and a very distant proposition.  Then late in the race, the trio came in to view, with gap now 7 secs, so they must have lost time.  Was handed an unlikely 3rd, when Geoff spun off as mentioned by Clive.

Grats to unstoppable Daz, and to Tony & Clive for their podiums.

I like the car myself & don't find it hard to drive - apart from its tantrums over curbs or some bumps.  I basically use Daz' setup from Donington - maybe it could benefit those who are struggling?

Nice to use this version of Snetterton, not been on this layout for eons!

Had been slowly upping my pace before quali, and to be honest high 1.10s felt quite good. Then Geoffers did a 1.09, forcing a rethink on the gearing, giving more punch out of the slow stuff and generating laptime, all good I thought.
Then quali comes around, Erling casually sticks a 1.09.0 in, blowing us all out of the water, and for quite some time I couldn't see how to get close to that. More setup tinkering, especially the gearing, as well as realising I needed to lower the rotation of my wheel to match the 23 degrees that was the highest that can be set on this car in game, and that did the trick. Still a bit last minute.com, and I had to put all I had at that moment to get that lap.
Luckily I got the start I needed, and was flat out straight off the bat, with the idea that I might break the tow and therefore have a gap quickly. Seemed to work, although Erling then upped his pace and kept the increase in the gap to small amounts for some time. Was able then to see where more time could be found, and went better towards the end of the race.

No quali as per the rules, but then I realised at the end of the session that I had made a boo-boo and not saved the setup from race 1. Scrabbled through the gearbox, hoping it would be close enough.

Got away ok, got past Tony when he went for the big dive back into turn 2 and I turned under him, which left just Geoffers and Clive. Sat behind Geoff, but was struggling to find enough punch off the slow stuff to make an impression on them. The gearing wasn't right in all honesty, but eventually I went around Geoff as he was boxed in by Clive, leaving Geoffers and Erling to squabble for a minute, which they then did it seems!
Followed Clive, but where he was getting it wrong, I was slow, and the fast parts were more one line. As Erling noted, I was slow on the way into the chicane, trying to be fast out. Eventually at the third attempt it worked, and I sneaked through. Good drive that though Clive, very competitive.

Glad to hear the setup has helped Erling. Genuinely happy to share any of mine in these series, just let me know.
