Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Car/Track download available by pm to WT

Cars: '92 Ford Escort RS

Track: Donington Park (National)

RACE ONE
Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (10 mins)
Race: 20:30 (20 laps)

Bonus points: 1 point for fastest lap in race.

RACE TWO will follow, with same rules as for Race One except that, Race One podiums will not take part in Race Two qualification.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops: Not required

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: Driver's must complete over 50% race distance to score points.

Not holding out much hope of a good result tonight, just been testing & I am nearly a second slower than I was when we raced here last time.  Huh

One good race, one bad race.

Race 1 went well, didn't have the speed to match Daz, and as I mentioned above did not have the speed I had when we raced here back in September, but was fast enough to pull away from Erling & take 2nd place.

In contrast race 2 was frustrating. First couple of laps were OK, until a couple of cars ahead tangled at Macleans, ducked to the inside to avoid getting involved but I think Daz behind was a bit unsighted & ran into me & spun me around. Got going again while Daz waited, held him off for a couple of laps but inevitably he got past, his car putting the power down out of corners much better than mine. Just after I had a couple of micro game freezes then just after the Old Hairpin the game froze completely, I waited hoping it might come back but after several seconds decided to press Ctrl-Alt-Del to shut GTL down, then it did come back just before bringing up Task Manager. So cancelled that & resumed racing.

Car was damaged from a collision with the barriers & steering was a bit off centre but quite driveable, however exiting the chicane it continued to turn left & I ended up in the pitlane fortunately able to get enough speed off to avoid an S/G. So drove through the pits & rejoined just ahead of a group of cars a lap ahead, so let them through after Redgate, they had just passed when the game froze again for a couple of seconds. At this point I decided it was safer to quit rather than cause another driver harm if it happened again.

Congrats to Daz on the race wins & to Erling & Tony on the podiums.  clap clap clap

Just another thing I need to mention, someone else may have had this & know a solution. In a few races recently I have had a message come up saying something like "Microsoft NET Framework has encountered an error", it happened last night on the last lap of race 1 & as far as I can recall it always happens on the last lap of a race & about 1/3rd of a lap from the finish line. Obviously this makes it difficult to see where I am going. Does not happen every race though. Any ideas?

Um, combination of being unsighted and just having nowhere to go in terms of avoidance action really as I recall Geoffers. Was all a bit of a muddle and the track was quite blocked with Cossies pointing in a variety of directions.

Do you run Nappe1s program Geoffers? I think that uses .net framework from memory, so could be some kind of mismatch on that?

Funny you mention that Daz, yes I do & I thought that may be the problem so I restarted GTL without it between races last night only to get those game freezes, maybe coincidence, maybe not  Huh. I currently use GTL installs that I brought over from my last PC, I also have the Steam download version which I have never used, so thinking about trying that instead to see if it makes any difference.  It is strange that the message always pops up on the last lap of races no matter what length they are, I wonder if it coincides with the winner crossing the finish line.

It is to do with Lasses Affinity Lock program. Have you updated to version 2.2?

Fixed it for me.

Two demanding races.

The first one was without big surprises.  Obviously couldn't compete wit Daz, and Geoffers was a tad too fast as well, pulling away slowly.  Did close the gap again towards the end, but never got really close.  Behind, Tony was hanging on like a burdock for worryingly long, but eventually I was able to stretch the gap.

Grats to Daz & Geoff!

Race 2 without qual for Daz, Geoff & me was a bit more dramatic.  Got a good start, but not able to advance any places.  At the end of L1, when braking for the chicane, I had to take evasive action, or take Clive out. That cost two places, to the pursuing aliens, and I was now dead last.  Couple laps later, at McLean's, Daz & Geoff both veered off track, and i found myself colliding head-on with Matt's car.  Totally impossible to see him before it was too late, as his black car was first obscured by the black rear of Geoffers' car, and next by the cloud of smoke it was enveloped in.  As I didn't have any part in the cause of the mayhem, I pressed on, passing a waiting Clive, apparently with something on his conscience..  Wink   Car felt ok; maybe a little slower than before, but may have been all in my mind..

Set off trying to hunt down a distant Tony in the lead.  Eventually caught up and made a move past into the chicane - hope it wasn't too aggressive.  Braking for T1 next, Tony unfortunately spun off. He may have touched my bumper ever so slightly, contributing to it; I didn't feel anything and the replay is inconclusive.   Soon after I had Daz closing in on me.  Futile of course, but tried to make his pass as hard as possible.  Later than late braking prevented him from pulling the same move on me as I did on Tony.  Next lap at McLean's however, I lost the rear and was hit by Daz.  Now the car definitely didn't feel ok anymore. Replay suggests he hit my right front wheel, so that may explain it.  Thus not much I could do when he did a succesful repeat of his first attempt at the chicane.

Grats again to Daz, and to Tony.  Commiserations to Geoffers for all the problems; hope you get it sorted!

Erling, my spin was due to me running out of skill; nothing to do with any contact between us  thumbup1

My contact on you was to straighten you out Erling and prevent the spin, but evidently got the speed a bit wrong, apologies!

Race 2 was quite the hectic event, action packed all the way really, as it should be with the reverse style grid I guess. Tried to be really conscious of closing speeds etc on the first couple of laps, but could still do nothing about avoiding Geoffers up at McLeans. All good fun though, perhaps slightly biased by me obviously getting on quite well with the car.

My fault entirely Daz - and without the 'help', I would surely have spun completely, so thanks!   laugh
