Moderator's Report

I had one report from a driver that another driver had evidently closed all the vents on his car during qualifying for maximum speed down the straights. That in and of itself is fine, but if you do this you must be considerate towards other drivers and escape to the pits as soon as your last flying lap is finished and before you start smoking heavily.

If everyone starts driving round the track for several laps at a time with badly smoking engines we'll soon have a situation where visibility is too bad to safely drive!

Server replay time: 347s

Fozz is following Brian Needham into Seat and gets caught out by Brian's braking, tapping his left rear corner and spinning him out. This wasn't a passing attempt, just a misjudgement of the situation, so it's a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 410s

Iain drafts Fozz down the start straight and outbrakes him into Elf, but takes too much inside curb, bounces and gets tagged by Fozz.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 420s

Iain gets a tow from Fozz on the start straight and outbrakes him into Elf. Iain takes too much curb, gets sideways and slows dramatically, causing Fozz to run into the back of him, spinning Iain out.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 443s

Paul Adams outbrakes himself into Elf, just getting the car stopped before running off the track. Gerald overestimates Paul's speed and runs into the back of him, spinning Paul out.

Server replay time: 540s

Popabawa is coming past the pits whilst Picnic is passing the exit. Popabawa just doesn't see him, whereas Picnic (who is a lap ahead) assumes that he knows he's there and will back off and let him through into Elf. Picnic turns in with Pops still alongside and contact results.

Popabawa didn't even know about the incident until after the race.

Both drivers could've been more aware of each other's position, but as this was a simple misunderstanding and failure to see, it's just a racing incident.

  • picnic (Picnic)advice — assume cars exiting the pits are alongside until visible in your mirrors
  • popabawaadvice — glance behind as you approach the pit exit

Server replay time: 584s

Gerald Greenwood is following Rob Bywater into Repsol and appears to misjudge his braking, making contact wth Rob. Gerald did not submit an incident report but on this occaision I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt, however, in future if you hit another car please tell us your side of the story, otherwise you will lose any right of appeal if the moderator decides you were guilty of a bad passing attempt and penalises you.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1178s

Shark has been held up by Mike Cooper for a couple of corners, and turns his lights on to warn Mike he is about to be lapped. Bernie Lomax, who is behind both, sees the gap Shark has left and piles into it, sideswiping Mike off the track.

It's possible that Bernie misjudged his braking and didn't mean to try and pass Mike, but since he did not submit an incident report, I can only make a judgement based on the replay evidence.

  • Bernie Lomaxpenalty — contact with Mike Cooper — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 1418s

Dave Gymer is following PaulW and misses his braking point for Elf, taking them both off the track. Dave subsequently does a stop and go for it, so the two place penalty is reduced to zero places.

(For those not familiar with the UKGPL system, a penalty of zero places is used to give a driver some yellow card points for bad driving even if they took an on-track penalty for the offence.)

Server replay time: 1583s

Shark is following Bernie Lomax into Elf and gets caught out under braking, locking a front wheel and finding himself alongside just after Bernie has turned in. The two collide and Michael Wrightson gets past.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1694s

Bernie Lomax has two cars ahead and has to brake a little earlier and harder than normal for Elf. Michael Wrightson brakes as normal (perhaps even a little early) but can't avoid running into the rear left of Bernie.

  • Racing incident
