Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 51s

After the standing start, Brian Kerrs brakes early for T1, which allows or forces Madd to make a late lunge down the inside. Brian doesn't spot Madd, and turns in on him.

Brian was in a very tricky position. Approaching the corner a Ferrari was just ahead of him on his outside, so he sensibly yielded the position. Unfortunately he was a bit too early on the brakes, and is passed on both sides. Madd's move was a bit ambitious, but he only had a split second to react to Brian's early braking and avoid contact. I'm calling this one a racing incident, it had more to do with the dangers of a standing start than any mistakes by the drivers.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 91s

Pribero brakes a little early in the middle of a pack of cars, and Madd gives him a bump. Fortunately, Pribero catches the slide quickly with an armful of opposite lock and retains his position. Pribero felt this was just a racing incident, but Madd should probably have been a bit more cautious of the close pack of cars ahead of him.

  • Madd-RIPwarning — Minor contact.
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 285s

Popabawa is a bit slow out of a corner after some contact with another car, which allows Madd to get alongside. Popa doesn't spot him, and turns in on him at the next corner, resulting in minor contact. Madd takes the position.

In mitigation, Popa wouldn't have had a good sighting of Madd in his mirror due to the angle he apporaches from.

  • popabawacaution — After losing momentum, watch for other cars taking advantage.

Server replay time: 2278s

Madd in his Austin tries to out-brake Assasino's Renault. He gets a some overlap on the inside, and Assasino turns in on him.

Madd does not really get enough overlap before the turn-in point to justify the move, and it's not clear if his car would have made the corner cleanly without the contact. Madd admitted responsibility for the contact, but Assasino requested that no penalty be applied.

  • Madd-RIPpenalty — Over ambitious passing move. — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 2284s

After the previous contact, Assasino tries to out-brake Madd into the next corner. He locks his brakes and there is contact, Assasino takes the position.

Madd requested that no penalty be applied.

  • ASSASSINO ([GS]ASSASSINO)penalty — Over ambitious passing move. — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

I suppose what I'm trying to say is....Give the lad a break angel He will probably become one of the best and most respected drivers in the league....given the chance

Actually, unless he listens to Wang Chung while racing - this will never be accomplished.

So far I am the only one to hold this title of "Respected Driver" solely for the fact that I have Wang Chung's hit Single, "Wang Chung Tonight" on repeat while I race.

The Results speak for themselves.

Yes...totally agreed Brian...my main point is though that backo is not the only one doing what is considered 'wrong'....If you have the time to watch replays, and study the driving of all drivers, then backo is no better/worse than some others......why are they not being mentioned on the forums in public view like Backo is ?.... not through 'normal' complaint channels as we are supposed to do.

If a driver has amassed a large number of penalty points then I think it's likely their actions will be more closely scrutinised and commented on.

I never pushed round mark. It was the next driver, stevie holmes i think, came round and ran into the back of me sending me clear. Until then i was stuck behind the accident.

Absolutely, I came round the corner, nowhere to go and couldn't stop, piled into the mess and then it seemed to sort itself out - and lost Mark 3rd place.

Funny race, I was tired and was slower than I expected (did a 1:52.0 on my second hot lap when I got home, thought 1:51 would be easy, but tiredness = slow reactions) so couldn't get it together in qually.

Made a good start from 13th, passed 4 or 5 cars, and then a couple of leaders off on turn 1 and I was 6th.  Took a long time to settle into the race and find a groove, all the time holding up the Healey (stnasky?) in 7th, but he was very cool, had a look a few times but didn't make a dive, then I think he must have made an error and he slipped back.  Never managed the pace of Mark or Brian ahead so 5th was as good as I could manage.

I was fairly assertive at the start, quick getaway with more momentum than those around me, I did do some slight panel rubbing but I'm pretty sure no-one lost out, and then braked early for T1 and tucked in cleanly.  At least that's how it seemed to me, I must check the replay and make sure I didn't compromise anyone, which is possible going from 13th to 6th.

I'm reasonably pleased how that went Smiley

8th in qualifying was waaay above expectation but I was then unprepared for the sheer level of aggression, particularly on the first couple of laps.

I dropped a few places after a self inflicted mistake on the first lap then another couple when I was trying to give a struggling Dave Gymer some room. I was trying to do the right thing and I lose a couple of places to more aggressive drivers who weren't prepared to give anything up. I guess that's the nature of GTL and that's why I tend to avoid it <shrug> Undecided

I drove pretty consistently after that, had a very good and fair battle with Will16v until he unfortunately span off, I was then way behind PRibiero with no prospect of catching him.

Despite the start, pretty pleased with 10th Grin

According to the times in the results, you were 10th, not 9th. Results corrected accordingly.

Just watched the replay back.  Excellent race, thanks to Psuedo, Madd-RIP, Assassino and Backo for some great racing.  Psuedo did a fantastic job in front of me holding his line, using some kind of pro-drift style through the top of the hill a couple of times  Grin  Grin until he tried to take a shortcut through the armco at the pool!  Later on Madd-RIP, Assassino, Backo and I ran in a train of cars for most of the second half, fighting hard but fair (mostly  Wink).  Assassino was clearly the fastest but kept spinning for some reason, but within a lap or so was looming large in my mirrors  Shocked.  Madd-RIP did exactly the right thing and just sat behind me being annoying until I mashed one very expensive Ferrari into the barriers.

One day I will finish a race, I promise  Grin  Grin  Grin

Assassino was clearly the fastest but kept spinning for some reason

Sabotage

I was pushing the car to the max, to gain more positions, hard to try to be faster but to avoid hiting other cars in Monaco.

I had one of my best GTL experiences.

I wish to thank you guys for allowing me to join the race at Monaco, I had a great time (very nervous-but great) I was not familar enough with Monaco to be confident racer, but I finished, I appoligise to anyone if I held you up when you came into my mirror, I tried
to stay out of prefered line, and not be a hinderence to those overtaking me. Congrats to podium, You Guys are "Bad Fast" and very
talented, It was fun to see how it`s supposed to be done, for me: more practice and time.

Thanks,  Kevin L Mallender.

Hi

Didn't get much practice because I was recovering from Chemo so just wanted to finish the race. Thought I had come 13th not 14th but there you go! See you all on Thursday.

If somebody has to scamper very soon after the end of the race the game 'forgets' them and the places all shuffle up.
