Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0

A couple drivers were reported for chatting during the race. This can be distracting, please limit any chat to pit-in and pit-out messages.

Server replay time: 118s

Approaching the double right-hander before the chicane Keith is battling Syd closely, with Ossie a distance behind. Ossie appears to miss his braking point, passes Syd and hits Keith quite hard, forcing him off the track.

  • ossie (0ssie)penalty — Rear-end collision. — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 192s

Backo tries to pass Pribero at the double right hander. Pribero turns in, and his car is forced off the track.

This was an over-ambitous move. Backo does not achieve any overlap before turn-in so was not entitled to dive up the inside. Backo apologised for the contact, and Pribero requested that no penalty be applied.

  • BACKOpenalty — Over-ambitious overtake. — 2 places lost (plus 9 for penalty points)
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 198s

After the previous incident, Backo brakes very early for the chicane, with the intention of waiting for Pribero to recover. Unfortunately Mike Hammer is close behind, and cannot avoid hitting him. The impact spins Backo off the track.

Mike was not at fault for the collision, he could not have anticipated that Backo would slow down where he did. Backo's intentions were good, but unfortunately he caused a second incident. After causing an incident drivers should only wait for the victim to recover if they can do so safely and without interfering with other drivers on track.

  • BACKOwarning — Unsafe attempt to pull over.
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 703s

Ossie is chasing down Phil Gilliland along the back straight. He is some way behind apporaching the double right hander, but manages to out-brake Phil and get alongside. Phil doesn't spot him, and turns-in, resulting in contact which knocks Phil off the track.

Ossie did manage to get a decent overlap before turn-in, so was entitled to racing room on the inside. Phil should have left room accordingly . However, Phil was probably caught by suprise as Ossie made up a lot of ground in the braking zone, so I'm reducing this one to a caution.

Up and down that race.  Was pleased with my qually and didn't do anything daft off the start line .... I left that till later on in the lap and lost a load of positions.  I did however have a great view of Backo's accident as a result.

I managed to claw back a few positions before making another silly mistake and handing them all back.
Repeat the above line 3 times ..... and that's my race.

Was annoyed to get beaten by Shark - I guess you were still getting used to the track at the beginning eh?

Could have done better in qually, but started in a resonable position.  Off the line I went from 8th to third and was well chuffed and then on first left hander brakes were cold and went straight onto the green stuff and ended up at the back of the pack.  I then proceeded to pass a number of cars and can't remember who but they broke extremely early and caught me off guard and I ploughed into the back of them and off they went into the gravel.(many appologies). After passing a few more cars another error at same turn i think and that was me having to work hard to reclaim positions.  Came side by side with phil I think it was and he came off worse(hope it wasn't my fault will look at replay to confirm). From there on in had a few little battles on the way, main one with Madmac which was a lot of fun and hard work trying not to go up the back of him as I think I was a little quicker but eventually he was the winner(excellent stuff).  Another nice turn out and a lot of fun.  Grats to podium especially Madd, lets hope he has it out of his system by the morning when he is due to pick me up for work.(think I will take a spare pair of pants!)

If I have time I will do a vid. See you all next week.

Got a pb in quali which was a bit of a suprise as I'd thought I'd go slower online compared to offline (a la GTR2).

At the front it was close in quali and was expecting Assassino,Backo or Baracus to edge me out but managed to keep hold of pole.  Grin

The start for me was probably what helped me the most as I managed to eek out a little gap to Backo who looked like people were crawling all over him, keeping them busy  Smiley.
It was just a case of trying to be as consistent as possible and I palmost managed it, I was a little unluckey with traffic as they always seemed to be when I was entering the chicanes or corners  :'( . But everyone was very gracious but I was caught out when someone lifted in front of me and contact was made, I do apologise most profusely as I was going to use the tow and get past before T1 , I'll look at the replay for that one.

Towards the end the tyres were starting to go off and Baracus was closing me down quite significantly, but then thankfully  Tongue he made a couple of errors and I could get the gap back to a comfortable amount and just finish...in 1st....  Grin  Tongue Well done to the rest of the podium, and to the finishers.

PS not a chance Ossie, I'll re-enact the entire race on the way to work!

Was annoyed to get beaten by Shark - I guess you were still getting used to the track at the beginning eh?

Didn't really get to grips with the circuit till part way through the race tbh and by that time had worked out the BMW CSL was a bit pants down the straights compared to the others. I wanted to try out Morten's new painted BMW team car and it looked great Cool, but really thought he'd done the Schnitzer not the Alpina. Could tell it was the CSL as it handled ok but wasn't very quick on the straights. Grin

Anyway, standing start was hairy with cars seemingly appearing and dissappearing from the off into T1 (if only the dedicated server did a formation lap so that the network niggles could sort themselves out during the formation lap not the first flying lap Undecided). Makes me uncomfortable about the standing starts. Got off to another good one passing a couple of people but then under-steered off onto the grass on cold tyres (rookie error). Had to wait for nearly the entire field to come by and then the rest of the race was working my way back up the order. 9th was probably about my correct position in the end even without the mistakes I feel.

In the end I had the feeling of not liking the circuit and wish I'd been here for Monaco.

I think there should be a mix of standing and rolling starts. This track for sure, should have been a rolling start with that hectic first turn.

Grats to Podium.

Had a good start and surprisingly I got past a few people and was (very) briefly in 3rd, I think. However, being surrounded by Capris I couldn't manouver freely and it felt quite hopeless as Capri after Capri motored past on the long straight.

2nd lap was going okay, Baracus in another 906 looking for a way past me, and Capris ahead of me. Since the heavier more powerful cars were slower in the corners and faster on the straights, I found it a very difficult situation. Couldn't slow down to try and gain some room and momentum for the next straight as others were hot on my heels, but at the same time I had to slow down in the turns due to different driving style of the Capri in front. Just before the last chicane, I made a mistake that ended my race for podium positions, as well as BACKO's.

Very sorry for the bump BACKO, I tried avoiding but it was too late. Can't see a damn thing sitting in a 906 right behind that "huge backside" Capri. I had a feeling that you maybe braked a little early, but of course I should have left more room. Was a tense situation though as Baracus was sweating me from behind at the time, and I was sure he would have lunged at any opportunity to get past.

After waiting for BACKO to catch up, I had some good duels getting back up to 5th. Tailed Pribeiro for the last few laps, but I saw no chance of getting by. He just refused to make any bigger mistakes, no matter how much I hinted that this is what he should have done.  Wink

I have to say, with my meager skills, I found it very difficult to get past any Capri in my 906 at this track, even if 906 can do the same laptimes. So once again, I am in awe of Baras performance.

Not quite the return to UKGTL (after a summer break) I had hoped for, but aside from the bump I gave Backo, I had a fun race here. Thanks for organizing it.

That was a very interesting race!! I knew I was going to have to drive with my balls hanging out the window to stand any chance of keeping with the Crapi Fords and it was all a bit on edge.

I had another slow start off the line with my high 1st gear in the 906. Got swampped by loads of cars and went from 4th to 9th or something by the first straight!

Picked some places up due to others coming together and found myself in 3rd after 3 laps I think. The chase was on!! I kept getting faster laps and had a good benchmark to aim to keep getting but some laps I was loosing .3 or .6 on my best race lap. My teamie let me past after getting held up by a recovering car then I was hauling Madd in at a fair rate of knots. I wasn't sure if he was just taking it easy coz of his big lead, or i fhe was having backmarker troubles, or tyre troubles (as I could see smoke just ahead of me most of the time Cheesy ) - When I could see I was gaining I really put the hammer down and got a lap waaay faster than my Q lap (getting used to the track too by this point - lap 15) - I was gaining on a 6 second lead by .5 or 1 sec per lap and was soon on his tail.

Coming into last turn before the last chicane he went a bit wide so I thought I would just use it to get closer rather than try a desperate pass as there were still a few laps to go but I positioned my car so that I couldnt see the entry to the chicane, went in offline and hit the wall on the left which lost me 2 seconds. Immediately after this I went off wide at T1 loosing another 7 seconds and it was game over!! Just lost concentration that little bit coz of major error #1 - leading to major error #2 in quick succession! Grrrr.

Were there start lights here or just the old man dropping the flag? 2nd race in a row I had to wait for cars to move before dropping the clutch Sad

Anyway was a really fun race (having someone to chase ;P ) and although i'm gutted i made many mistakes it was a great challenge. Well done Matt and team GS Cheesy

A-HA! (No, not the band) I was just reviewing the replay and saw that. No more awe from me!  Grin (Okay okay, you were a full second faster then I, so just a little awe, but very little  Wink)

Anybody else having trouble with the replay?

took me 6 attempts to download it..for some reason it kept stopping at 70% and ending the download...I put that down to traffic though.

Now I have got it 100%...GTL CTD's during the circuit loading screen?

For some reason the replays are showing up on the index page during upload - they only used to show up when fully uploaded.

Glad I missed that one!

As for my race it was pretty dull for the most part, which was okay as my goal was to score some points rather than keep overdriving and DNFing.  Ran well up in the top 10 for most of the race as everyone else hurled themselves at the scenery  Cheesy  Cheesy  Cheesy.  Had a great scrap with Mr Holmes and was very sorry to see him spin a couple of laps after he'd got past me.  I almost felt like slowing down so we could scrap again but... naah!  And sorry if I was a bit easy to overtake today but I just wanted to see the finish line!!!

Good..the re install fixed it... Huh

I have to agree with Simon regarding the standing starts....they are getting a bit out of hand with some drivers seeming determined to try and win the race into turn 1...same last week at Monaco. Shocked

I personally prefer them to rolling starts...but unless people start showing a little more care for the first few corners I can't see them lasting very long and that would be a shame.
