Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Goodwood (PM WT if you need the track)

Cars allowed: Lotus Cortina

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (30 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit stops required: No

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None.

D'hommage!

Was really looking forward to this, but lost my FFB effects on the start.
More than difficult to drive.
Tried to solve that by a pit-stop, pressed the wrong button and out  Tongue

FFB back again when testing offline  Angry.

Have fun guys!

Enjoyed that. Made a decent start, Erling got blocked my Geoff's not as fast start, and I went roung the outside
with a little of paint swapping, and got ahead of Micha as well. Wasn't going to last, and it didn't, then spent the rest
of the race getting in Erling's way, I had higher gearing, and didn't run out of revs so easy, and manual clutch
gave an edge on the long straights.

Here's some real world vids. I may have posted before. so forgive me.
I Did a sprint here a few years ago, and this is my best, though not brilliant lap, messed up the gears into St Mary's
and had no idea what to do in "NoName"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF7S_Ha6ITM

And this is another S2000 (supercharged) Tim SImson, who had a piece of a rear brake disk break off as he was braking for Woodcote
and it was an "expensive" experience. Love his "Oh" at the end...

I enjoyed that as well.

Loved the battle with Daz. He was clearly faster, again Sad, and my chance was to be as consistent as possible.

I was lucky to get the lead at the start. After that he was able to take the lead. Here I thought it was over, however, I was able to stay with him for a couple of laps and after he make a small mistake, I was able to retake P1. After that unfortunately he made few mistakes, which are the reason why I won.

Always happy to race with you guys. Hope to see more original GT Legends cars and some Le Mans 50s here.

This sounds like the the problem that I have had for a few years with FF. I can have full FF during Practice and Qual, but sometimes ( about 50/50 ) at the start of the race there is no FF, and I cannot agree more that it makes driving almost impossible. Of course you only discover that there is no FF at T1!!

The solution that I have was offered by Daz I think (?) you do not need to do a pitstop but hit ALT/F together and the FF is turned on. I found it dangerous to be looking at a keyboard as 10+ cars were negotiating T1 with my car clearly NOT under proper control, so I placed two small blobs of Blu-tack on the Alt and F keys. Now ( after a little practice) I can do it by feel and keep my eyes on the road.

For the first few years of running GTL I never had this problem, then suddenly it started happening?? I have still not discovered the reason for dropping the FF after doing everything that I can think of including a clean install of GTL/multiple visits to the CONTROLS page/ changing USB ports on my wheel and pedals etc etc. So now I live with the ALT/F solution which incidentally does toggle FF ON/OFF, so don't hit the keys twice, like some damned fool often does  Roll Eyes

I have just watched and enjoyed Dimi's video of the race.
Grats to the fast guys on some stunning lap times.

Also great to see Hristo still coaching from the side  Grin, hope you are doing OK mate. Mrs Fujikawa often asks about you  Wink

My reasons for watching the Dimi's video were 2 fold. First to see some great racing and pass an hour on a lazy Tuesday morning and secondly to find out where the heck I was losing 2 secs a lap, when I felt that I was absolutely wringing the neck of the Cortina!! I am humble enough to know that I would not be as quick as DD or Daz but on a track that I know well I did not expect to be so slow!! If not for Tony's excursions I would probably have been last!!

I was taking T1 flat in 4th, St Mary's was fast in 3rd and right out to the grass on the exit,  Lavant ( I did not get right every time ) was nailed in 3rd and using all the tarmac and a little kerb. Woodcote was a dab on the brakes and a single arc, balancing the car on the gas and the final chicane was where I could gain or lose 0.5 secs.
During the race I realised that I was losing 2-3 tenths on each straight?? in fact on one occasion when Tony was chasing me I actually checked that I was not still in 3rd gear...he just sailed past!! although he did run wide at St Mary's  Smiley.

So, watching Dimi's setup tweaking on the video I learned that he was running very high pressure tyres and a higher final drive. I normally run a higher final drive than most in GTL, but noticed that others here are quite prepared to have the engine against the rev limiter, as the engines don't explode like they would in GPL. So I have experimented lately with lower ratios and reckless indifference to the whizzy bits in the engine bay.
If I find time over the next few days I might do a private practice at Goodwood and implement some of DD's setup tweaks. I was astonished when he switched his diff around from 10 powerside to 100 powerside without any qualms. Maybe it is my GPL training but that sounds to me like a death wish as far as handling is concerned lol.
If changing ratios and pumping up the tyres gets me into the 1:28's it will be a lesson well learned.............thanks Dimi.

I think I probably need to watch Dimi's video to see where I was going wrong in the setup department. In qually I was regularly setting the best times in the first sector & right at the end I was .25s up on Daz's 1.26 lap at the second split before running off track. This version of Goodwood is very grippy but although I had loads of rear grip I was struggling with front grip, the car just wanting to understeer, particularly at St Mary's & Lavant, & despite trying to dial in some oversteer I could not get it to turn well at those two corners. I was using the middle gearing, although it lost a bit at the top end I felt it suited the corners better & I was faster with it.

Anyway the race panned out pretty much as I expected. Start didn't go as expected though & Matt & Micha passed me before Madgwick but they both made small errors on lap 1 & was able to take advantage to regain 3rd place. DD & Daz were already disappearing into the distance with laps around a second quicker than I could manage. Micha had passed Matt for 4th & was keeping pace with me with the gap fluctuating a tenth or two either way for several laps. Approaching half distance I made a couple of small mistakes allowing Micha to close in, however a lap later he ran off track at Woodcote & from then on it was a lonely race to 3rd at the finish.

Congrats to DD & Daz, awesome pace from both.  I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy

Thanks Clive for the hint (Alt+F). This was in fact the first time I experienced this issue  Huh .

@ Clive & Geoffers: as far as I remember there's a setup by Dimitar online from an ealier session (something like "Cortina DD"), which I used
and was very pleased with.

Yes, this setup is mine. I have made some changes yesterday though. Here's the updated one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BYQZgtD_DMhyUzHlnP1mgLJIfROrLsfM/view?usp=sharing

Just tried DD's setup & it definitely makes the car turn better in the slower corners however I felt it did not work quite so well through Madgwick as my own effort which probably explains why I was so fast in the first sector. I did make a couple of changes to suit me, moved the brake bias more to the rear (52/48) & lowered the front tyre pressures to 30psi which I felt gave a little better grip through Madgwick. I was now able to do regular laps in the 1.27s with a best of 1.27.2. Oh forgot to mention I also used the middle gearing which I prefer.
