F1 69Xtra – Round 9  - Road Atlanta 71 - May 28

Next stop of the 69X F1 finds us at Road Atlanta 71, it is a 2.54-mile (4.088 km) road course located just north of Braselton, Georgia. The facility is utilized for a wide variety of events, including professional and amateur sports car and motorcycle races, racing and driving schools, corporate programs and testing for motorsports teams. The track has 12 turns, including the famous "esses" between turns three and five; and Turn 12, a downhill, diving turn. The track is owned by NASCAR through its subsidiary Panoz Motorsports, and is the home to the Petit Le Mans, as well as AMA motorcycle racing, and smaller events throughout the year..

In S42 the tokens system will be used with drivers being awarded tokens for starting the season and for starting each race. Each car will cost a number of tokens per race.
Check the Season 42 details regarding rules and the 1969 F1 Championship pages in particular.

I was having a great battle with Pete when I made a small mistake and I hit the armco nose first at quite a slow speed. I got going without loosing much time but the engine was sick so I had to retire. The GPL damage model can be harsh sometimes Sad

Hi Phil,

Yep, such a shame. That was a lot of fun. Sorry about the bump on about lap 16; I hope that didn't cause you the early retirement. I managed to keep going to the end but I'm still in awe of Uli's speed. Wow! Grats to all finishers.

I must say SORRY to Ricardo.  I Am Not Worthy Thought you were slow at that point, but don't really know. Anyway I was behind you and ended your race. I feel bad for that.  Sad  Feel free to write a protest.

Grats to all other with more luck, specially for Uli. But no that was not luck, that was pure skill!  thumbup1

Stupid mistake on the last lap for me !

Grats to Martin and Dave C.

If I am not mistaken, only Paul and me could win the Privateers championship.
To be champion, Paul have to win the last race AND in the same time I should score less than ...3 points, so I just have to complete 50% of the distance at Oulton Park to be Priv. champion.
If I can do that, I will win the Privateers championship without winning any race ! Not brillant at all  Embarrassed

It's a pity Philippe and Paul were not racing yesterday, the last race would have been more exciting !

If you want finish first you have to finish first.

Congratulations and a big hand to you both, Greg and Andreas.
Yesterday was a good day, everything was right Grin my fitness (health), the engine, also my sliding feeling was present. When Greg had some problems, my lead grew up to 10 then 18 seconds. So I only had to manage the gap carrying my car home carefully. Of all things, lapping my Antipasti teamie Phil caused a moment of losing control, because I missed my braking point two corners further on and lost 3 seconds that lap. No problem Phil, it's not easy to make room at that point of the track, but our other Antipasti teamie Axel did a great job there THX!. Many thanks to all the other back markers – well done!
Thanks for your congratulations. It was no magic - as you all know there is no substitute for good preparation - then a bit of luck and fair opponents ...
What is the motto of Marcel Gerris (GPL-Racer)?
Practice makes perfect, but for me, it's just fun – I hope you all had much fun and that we will see each other again in Oulton Park for the season final.

A fantastic track, and a fantastic car - what could go wrong?  I didn't wait to find out.

My thanks to Jackie Stewart for his help in pre-testing, and UKGPL officials for their superior race prep.  Also to the Tyrol for it's help in mountain climbing.  And many congrats. to our two champions. I Am Not Worthy
