UKGTL Season 23 The Christmas Special - Le Mans - Dec 29

I have just been handed some very disappointing news.  The powers that rule within the family ( wife and daughters ) have arranged that we all meet up at my daughters house in Walthamstow on Dec28th, staying overnight and travelling back late afternoon on 29th!!.  . This involve a journey from NE London around the infamous North Circular until the M4 motorway opens up for a further 1.5hrs to Bristol and home. Usually a total journey time in excess of 3.5hrs......oh joy!!!

This makes things very uncertain about being home in time to get on the grid for the UKGTL Finale, which I really wanted to be involved in.

This is not a notice of official withdrawal, more a heads up that I might ( at best) be a late joiner, or (at worst ) a no show. It all depends on numerous factors, not the least of which is the stationary traffic blocking all exits from London, which is normally the case 

In case I do not make it, I would like to give my grateful thanks to Tony for all of his hard work over the years and his patience in dealing with my myriad clusterf*cks in GTL. Also thanks to all of the UKGTL community for the enormous fun that I have enjoyed.
 
Many of us will move on to things outside of simracing and to those, I wish all the best. To those who intend to re-commence hostilities on other simracing platforms, I look forward to banging wheels with familiar faces in the future

In fact my "online career" ends with this race after about 12 years, I think.
Not primarily because there are no alternatives, but because my back problems only allow me to be active with varying degrees of pain.
Admittedly, I was still hoping for the BSCC 1967 .....

I will try to learn skinning and keep myself busy with offline activities (as it started way back in 2006) and especially my admin activities
at www.evolution-modding.net - as long as this forum exists (it's one of the few froums still dealing with GTL & GTR2).
There is a lot of activity over there at the moment.

But you should never say never - a return is not ruled out if the right offers are made.

Also my heartfelt thanks to Tony and all involved for the outstanding work over the years.

I will miss this community here and fair racing throughout the years very much.

based on the outside chance that I make it to my rig before the start on Friday, I thought that I should make sure that all is ready. I do not want to sit down here and discover that I do not have the cars or track available??!!
Just checking through my track inventory and I have a 60's lemans and a 70's le mans, but no Lemans 67?? where can I find that?? Also. I assume that the cars are the std GTL Ferrari P4 and GT40?

Bad luck,
              Tony, guys.....just as I was going to ask Tony for the dl link for tomorrow's event my wheel broke down and as it looks I won't be able to repair it on such a short notice. (optical encoder). So I won't be there for the Great Ford vs Ferrari clash. What a shame.
Again I'd like to thank everyone and especially Tony for many years of sim racing fun with you. I am sure I will miss you guys.

What's next, back to GPL or continuing GTL at Micha's and friends ? I am not sure yet. Any suggestions for a nice raceplatform for the elderly driver will be highly appreciated. The eyes are fine again so I might give simracing another few years, that is when we're not on the coast.

I hope I won't lose sight of you guys altogeher . I have had so many good laughs on the forum and racing with you (on my own that is).

As long as this forum stays up I'll check regularly for any interesting posts.

Just detected, that I practiced in the wrong car  - so back to zero. Maybe the GT40 ist better to handle.

I cannot see any reason why Tony and Dan would not be welcomed back into UKGPL with open arms, unless there are some skeletons lurking in the closet???
. Tony would be in an "admin free" role and Dan could resume his illustrious career. Check out the UKGPL "Announcements" page for registration for any ( or all ) of the upcoming seasons.

But , more importantly, I should make the Le Mans race this evening. After teaching my 1 yr old grandaughter some apparently bad habits we were despatched towards home early, before I could do any more damage    .
