Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 129s

Freq brakes far later than Pseudo into T1 of the of opening chicane. He slips up the inside and leaves plenty of room for Pseudo on outside. Unfortunately TT, who is also taking the same wide line through T1, makes a small slip in front of Pseudo who tries to avoid him and moves slightly to the right, making slight contact with Freq. I'm sure Freq would have passed safely if Pseudo didn't take unavoidable avoiding action with TT so its a racing incident.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 131s

This incident follows the one above. After touching Freq, Pseudo reacts by slowing a little more, which means he is going very slowly around second part of chicane. This, not surprisingly, takes Ossie by surprise and he touches the back of Pseudo starting his spin. Instead of braking, and allowing Pseudo a chance to recover, Ossie continues to accelerate. He argues that any braking or avoiding manoeuvre would have "caused mayhem" behind, but it is each drivers responsibility to react in the correct manner, and anyone behind would then have had the responsibility to avoid him. If they didn't, then they would receive the penalty

Server replay time: 218s

John gets a good tow from Ossie along the straight preceding Curva Parabolica. When Ossie brakes, John appears to brake very soon after but is travelling faster, as a result of tow, than Ossie and can't stop in the same distance. He resultantly rear ends Ossie, who is thrown into the sand. In mitigation, the surprisingly large tow factor caught many out and John should be commended for apologising unreservedly to Ossie. He also waited for Ossie to rejoin before continuing.

  • John Kinghampenalty — Rear Contact — 1 place lost

Server replay time: 1035s

Approaching Parabolica, Dave is closing on Ossie and brakes later resulting in minor contact.

Dave doesn't appear to be making a passing attempt but does however seem to brake slightly later than on his previous laps. Ossie on the other hand appears to brake in the same spot as he had on previous laps.
This appears to be a simple misjudgement by Dave, caused through being slightly off line and at a tighter entry angle to the corner than he was accustomed to.

As it was not intended as a passing move, and because Dave correctly waited for Ossie to resume ahead the penalty is reduced to 1 place.

A few additional notes regarding the procedures for this series.

Race 1 will be run under 'standard' practice and qualifying rules and procedures.

For Race 2 we will reverse the starting grid based on the finishing positions in race 1. As this function does not currently exist as standard in GTR2, this will have to be a 'manual' process and this can only be achieved with the cooperation of all drivers present.
At the end of race 1, the server will automatically advance to 'Next Event' and will start in a race 2 'PRACTICE' session. The people present on the server at the end of race 1 will be loaded into this session in the same order they finished the race. It is very important therefore that nobody leaves the server at the end of race 1. (Ensure your setups have been saved before the next event advance Wink).

The race 2 'practice' session will state that it is a 30 Min's practice. Please ignore this as it is simply the default session when advancing from from the previous event. As soon as all drivers from race 1 are loaded, this session will be 'skipped' and advanced to race 2 Qually. Please DO NOT go out on track during this session.

The qualifying session for race 2 is where we will manually reverse the grid. This is stated as a '15 minute' session but will be cut short and advanced to Race 2 as soon as the reversal procedure is completed. Again it is important that nobody goes out on track during this session. Providing everybody has stayed connected from race 1, the reversal process should only take a couple of minutes and we will endeavour to get to the race in the shortest time possible.

Due to the nature of the procedures involved in reversing the grid in GTR2, anybody that leaves the server during or at the end of race 1(for any reason, including unfortunate disco's), or anybody that joins JUST for race 2 (pribeiro), will have to start the race at the back of the grid. PLEASE only join/rejoin when the lobby server  says Qualifying 2. and please remember this will only be a short session so you will not have much time to join.

Hopefully, with everybody's cooperation everything will run smoothly and efficiently and create some very good close racing. Please enjoy it and any complaints should be directed to either Ginsters Sponsored or Sponsored by Ginsters.  Grin

Think I might have a stab at this tonight.  Did a R2P race with the viper at monza so I feel I have an advantage over my fellow primordial slime (I'm trying to think of a term that means the opposite of alien, and that's the best I could come up with during this sentence).

I'll be able to attend the first race as well, however I have to leave at 2pm my time (which is 5 minutes after race 1) as the better half needs me for the afternoon. (I only wish it was THAT kind of 'need')  angel laugh :'(

That was a waste of an hour.
Was on the practice server before race,no problem.
Started practice and Qualifying, without a problem.
Come the start of the race,i'd just finished tweaking the car.
And i lost connection with teamspeak,i reconnected and went back to GTR2.
Finished tweaking and pressed race.
Only to sit on the grid with no one else, then lost connection.
Hope you all had a good race.

First race was boring, but the 2nd one was much better.

Had a good start and went from 14th (?) to 5th before T1 Smiley. Then was behind 2 battling Vipers  Tongue, and they took eachother out at Parabolica. Then I was behind TT and freQ who were also battling hard and I was benefitting from it.

Can't remember how I overtook TT  Embarrassed, but I do know that FreQ thought T1 was a hairpin  Wink.

Race 1 was interesting - not sure what happened at the start but the back of the grid just didn't move when the countdown started, and we all pootled away like old fashioned gentleman racers. I thought it worked well. Cheesy

Race 2 was a disaster - went on green but the car ahead just didn't go, almost got round him but just clipped the corner and had to back off the throttle, only to find JR coming past like a rocket ship. Then got turned around in the Retifilio, rejoined pretty much last, broke at what I thought was a conservative point heading for the della Roggia only to find myself heading for Reign Man's backside at warp factor 6 with no hope of avoiding. Gawd knows what sort of carnage I caused; waited for RM to get going ahead losing masses of time in the process.

Then it was a case of throwing myself off occaisionally as the car ahead broke so much earlier and harder than I was expecting that it was that or run into them. At both Ascari and Parabolica, on more than one occaision I broke where the black marks start instead of at my 20-40 metres later usual spot and still found myself almost smacking straight into the back of another car. If it were different cars I could understand but in the same machinery?! Huh No fun at all.

And gentlemen drivers do not weave in front of other drivers on the main straight. Especially when the driver behind has clearly committed to go to a particular side. thumbdown

As I said in the chat, really sorry to the legend I took out at the start of race 1. I think it was TT but will have to watch the replay. I waited until all legends had gone past before rejoining only to find TT still behind so slowed and let him thorugh too. Got back passed after several cars went off in to the kitter litter at Lesmo 2. However with TT 2 secs behind on the last lap I let him passed as I was still feeling guilty for the start shenanigans. At least I've worked out what I did wrong, pressing the clutch not brake is obvious but it's because at the starts I used the clutch and then didn't move my left foot over to the brake  Embarrassed Sorry again.

Second race wasn't much better as the car in front hadn't moved by the time I got to his grid slot so I helped him get going but that messed up the front of my car I had real problems getting round the two long fast right handers.

Really enjoyed the test race a couple of weeks ago but this race was tediuous in comparison. Whether it's that I don't gel with the Viper or a Viper/Monza combination I don't know but I didn't enjoy tonight.
