Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 63s

Mike was following Syd closely around turn 1 on the first lap. Syd was defending the line into turn 2 and started to brake quite early. This seemed to catch Mike out and he tapped the rear of Syd's car sending him off track. Unfortunately Mike didn't wait for Syd to re-join as he was unaware of the incident at the time.
Great care has to be taken when following cars on lap 1, especially following a standing start as there has been no prior opportunity to assess the drivers breaking points.

  • Mike Hammerpenalty — Rear Contact — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 67s

Jebstone Boppman made a very late passing move on the first lap into turn 2.
Psuedo was on the racing line and fully commited to the turn when Mr BMW made an attempt up the inside from a long way back causing contact with psuedo. Also by carrying too much speed into the corner Mr BMW's momentum carried him into the rear of Ossie which caused him to spin out.

Most of the mid-field are travelling slower than normal becuase of an incdident in front. Pseudo is turning into apex when Mr.BMW comes rather late through and can't avoid slight contact with Pseudo. Still carrying more speed than those who sensibly slowed, he tags the rear of Ossie who is carefully treading through incident and spins him off

By showing a lack of care approaching an incident, Mr.BMW managed to gain some places and tag Pseudo and Ossie. He must have been aware of "something" happening up front but chose not to react accordingly.

Server replay time: 2078s

Madd Rip passes Ruskus on the straight before turn 4 and turns into the corner slightly ahead. As there is still a very small overlap of the cars, Ruskus has to take the turn narrower than normal to avoid contact. This takes him over the curbs and consequently bounces him a little wide and contact was made.

I don't see that either driver was at fault here. Madd had enough overlap to call the corner his and Ruskus did what he could to avoid contact but got an unlucky bounce off the curb. Racing incident.

With the benefit of hindsight, I feel that Ruskus could have ceded the corner, and his place, rather than risk riding the curbs and contact with Madd. However, luckily no damage was done and Madd rightfully gained the place so no penalty is necessary.

With regard any 'after race' comments made in public forum, I feel unable to make comment on them directly as I have no 'record' of them. However, I must re-iterate the importance of 'not' discussing incidents in public after a race. Any incidents should be reviewed and submitted via the incident report forms supplied with the results.

Disappointing race in the end for me, starting 12th and finishing 10th- though there were a couple of really good battles too.  Quali was almost a second faster than I'd managed in practice.

The start was amazing, went from 12th to 6th in 3 corners, quite a way behind Jeff in 5th and with Simon right behind me in his 906.  That continued for ten laps.  Ten very, very long laps, with a couple of huge moments in turns 3 and 4 but I could just keep Simon behind.  Then, unfortunately, I managed to yank my entire wheel off the desk under braking/turn in to the penultimate corner, and I lost 3 places Sad
After that I felt like hitting escape I was so annoyed, but I kept struggling round with the car in front of yet another 906.  I ended up making a silly error into T1 with BA behind me and I ended up 10th.  Probably my worst showing in the Pantera I normally get on really well with!

Grats to the top 3, and Simon, proving it is possible to have close racing lap after lap without making any contact Cool I hope my constant sliding kept you amused Cheesy

One slightly odd thing, stnasky's fastest lap according to my screen after the race was a 1:50.103, not a 1:49.103, so I'm not sure which of those is right Huh I remember double-checking that when you guys mentioned a 49.1 for Mark over teamspeak after the race.

Hey wait, I'm the only Michelin driver there in the charts. I didn't even know you could change tires! I tried it some time long ago, but it would not let me change them, so I never tried again. Is the tire chart just made up, or do you Dunlop and Avon guys know something I don't?

Have to experiment.

:'( Sorry mate, I honestly thought you were coming down my left side on the racing line so moved right....just at the same time as you did Embarrassed Sad. I was pretty annoyed with myself by this time and put myself out at the end of the same lap before I caused any more mayhem.

This is why our guidelines state that you should be predictable above all else, because unexpected movements result in confusion, confusion is a path you don't want to take as it leads to fear and anger and the dark side. Grin

I suspect that is an error in the data entry for your car. It's been entered as Michelin's when all the 906s are on Dunlops.

It was amusing, especially the corner at the bottom of the hill where you'd clip the curb most laps on the inside and cause your car to buck and weave and slide. Cool

Yes, no disrepect to Mark, but that 1:49.1 is faster than everybody's qualification times so that's either a warp lap, it's been recorded wrong or something else as yet undiscovered. Or perhaps Mark really was that fast and I'm doing him a massive injustice. Embarrassed It definately said it in game on my screen as well as in the server results though.

Ok thanks. I don't mind, I was just wondering if I was missing out on some tactical choice.

I wouldn't know about the 1.49.1 time, but looking at fastest laps as well as Ruskus lapcharts, when several drivers did 49.something, and even I got a 1.50.099, it's definitely in the realm of possible. Seemed to me this track was also pretty leniant as far as cut track warnings, so could have been an shortcut, intended or unintended. Or could just have been a really good lap  Smiley

had good fun, haven't driven GTL for a while and was suprised how long it took me to get back into the RSR!  Shocked

for some reason I kept turning in on the brakes, don't know where i picked up this bad habit but the car turned on me everytime!  Undecided

quali'd 16th but was still learning the track, had a great start battling  tank with everyone it felt, some great close racing those first few laps!  Cheesy

unfortunately i ended up spinning and kicking about at the back! had fun racing with Phil Gilliland, psuedo and BACKO at numerous points! Sorry phil about spinning, catchin you up and overtaking about 3 times!

disco ended my bad performance!! thought my broadband gremlins had gone!  Angry

Great race with lots of action, got off to a poor start as 3 or 4 cars passed me as i struggled to get away blink.  Luckily there was a few spinners at T2 and got some places back.  It was so close for alot of the opening laps, had to keep an eye on Dan Minton while watching the guys infront, very busy but a great buzz. sweatdrop

Also had a long battle with Simon thoughout the race as he has said already. Passing was tough but i managed to get down the inside at T1 but Simon would do the same some laps later.  Enjoyed it. yes

OH thats right, i got a fastest lap  laugh nearly forgot Grin it was legal but i would say that wouldnt i.

Cheers Mark

First time i raced on this circuit, started with the pantera, did qualy 5th, but after some laps my tyres were gone, after lap 10 it was a nightmare to stay on track, did some spins which made me lost the race pace.

Hope to do better in last races.

Great video Oz! You can tell it was an action-packd race for everone by the lenght of it! I went to get popcorn half way throuhgh Smiley

And you should have seen the size of the sandcastle I was building - that's why I had to keep going back to add more battlements! Shame Zacai nearl knocked it over, but he ended up making quite a nice moat for it - thanks Wink
