Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 44s

At the start, Steve Holmes was directly behind Tinman on the grid. Steve got a much better start than tinman, but turned away from tinman too late, clipping his rear end. This spun tinman and left him at the rear of the pack. Steve did continue, and was not aware of tinman's misfortune.

  • Steve Holmespenalty — Rear Ending — 2 places lost
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 59s

In turn one Ossie is braking late and rear ends Minton. This forces Minton into a spin, collecting will16v. Will continues fine, but this contact makes Minton spin the other way back into traffic. He's then hit again by ossie and then Sandor. Sandor is then thrown back and onto the wall, but recovers after loosing 7 positions. The contact with Sandor also turns Minton's car the right way, so he can continue with ossie behind him, and with 5 positions lost.

  • ossie (0ssie)penalty — Rear Ending — 2 places lost (plus 3 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 1070s

Ossie catches up with Ade on the front straight. They run side by side with Ade at least a car lenght ahead, down the entire straight. At the middle of the straight Ade moves a bit towards Ossie, possibly because the road marking is changed here, or to make Ossie hit turn one a bit narrow, anyway Ossie corrects and moves away from Ade. Then as they're closing on turn one, Ade brakes first, but at the same time Ossie turns a tad towards Ade and hits his rear end. This forces Ade off the track, and Ossie continues. Ossie could see Ade all the time, as Ade was half a car lenght ahead the entire time.
Also Ossie had the passing car here.

It actually looks like Ossie's car is getting a bit unstable under braking, which causes him to touch Ade.

  • ossie (0ssie)penalty — Side by Side Contact — 1 place lost (plus 3 for penalty points)

hehe, got to add, coming from my unusually low place of 25th? on the grid, coming around T1 and T2 reminded me of the movie 'days of thunder'  Grin ...it was a case of peering through the tyre smoke and debris that littered the track and hope nothing was sliding back across the racing line  Shocked

I noticed you had a very efficient get away off the line Tibs, do you use manual clutch? I saw you bombing down the middle of a pack of 5 or so of us and remember thinking 'hope his brakings good'  Smiley

Another aside....how flipping cool did that South African dusk sky look as you headed up the hill towards the pit straight?  Cool and then downhill towards T1 & 2 the clouds looked ominous.
I am so glad we started using add-on tracks and variable lighting. Superb  Cool

Looking forward to the new bosses hard work and imagination  Cool

Your obviously the kinda guy who can dig atmosphere. Well next time you are practising a circuit and maybe having a race with the ai set the time option to "10x" and start your race at about 14:00. You may have to experiment a bit but sometimes you can do the whole gamut of Afternoon sun, dusk, night, dawn, Morning. Looks realy cool.

Oh and Tibs's braking wasn't quite that good  Roll Eyes

yes Tony, i've done the timescale stuff with GTL league races over at TPG a couple of seasons back.
It always looked awesome with the changing light conditions, really adding to the atmosphere for races, hence why i am always championing it over here. Lets hope the new management feel the same  Wink

If you like your classics and atmospheric lighting, try the Group C mod at spa with dusk or night lighting and be amazed, its drool-worthy  drool  or even GTL at Spa through Eau rouge at dusk...bellisimo  Cool

Just reminded me, when we all got on the grid for the race start, i thought it was going to be a '1 lap then pit for wet tires' scenario - i then remembered "this is not GTR2!"
But yes, the lighting was beutiful - does add to the atmosphere.
I keep thinking of all the great racing sims and games i've driven in the past over the years, and its the small bits like this that make it memorable, aswell as the people here  Cool.

Something to remember for future seasons mod type dudes... Wink

Oh and Tibs's braking wasn't quite that good  Roll Eyes

oops I blame cold tyres. Really it serves me right for not keeping a 2 second distance. Embarrassed

I noticed you had a very efficient get away off the line Tibs, do you use manual clutch? I saw you bombing down the middle of a pack of 5 or so of us and remember thinking 'hope his brakings good'  Smiley

I use Auto Clutch. My starts are very hit and miss, I either have a great start, or I miss the lights. Cheesy That's why I like the fact they use Standing starts for GTL. It's another skill for the driver to learn.

I managed to end up in first by the first corner in the RFC VORRA Buggies championship races, despite qualifying in last. I then managed to end up in last again by the end of the lap. Undecided

Another aside....how flipping cool did that South African dusk sky look as you headed up the hill towards the pit straight?  Cool and then downhill towards T1 & 2 the clouds looked ominous.

I agree. Smiley It looks much better, especially now I've managed to tweak GTL so I can get an extra 5-10 FPS even using DX8 instead of DX7. Grin Basically I set the GTL.exe process in Task Manager to use both the main core and HT, and set it to high priority.

That and I moved the folders off my desktop and put them in my documents. I had all the GTL GTR2 and rFactor files on my desktop, so I had 20+ GB of files there. Shocked The PC's now running a bit faster.

And I think we all owe the moderators a lot, a time consuming and sometimes unpopular job, but what a job they've done this season getting everything out so fast.  Way to go guys.   Cool

Having since discovered on viewing the replay that I lightly clipped a car right off the start causing them to spin, and so have put in an incident report against myself, I would like all moderators to know that I was NOT making a pathetic attempt to butter you up and avoid penalty.   Cheesy

Might not be a bad idea, as I have been giving particular attention to the starts. And by reporting you have gained the right to appeal. And if the victim still doesn't report it you won't get any penalties.
