Moderator's Report

Baracus250GT started with a different driving name from the one the ballast system expected, and was thus 25kg lighter than he should have been.

This was a genuine mistake, and this being the first sseason we've run driver ballasts, also without precedent, a penalty must be applied, but will not carry any penalty points as it was not a driving standards violation.

The penalty has, somewhat arbitrarily been calculated as a time in seconds added on which is equal to the race length in minutes, multiplied by the multiples of 10 kilograms underweight; that gives 40*(25/10), or 100 seconds.

This may be a little harsh but the system clearly states the expected driving name in the same place as the event's password, and is totally reliant on the driver using the correct name in order to work properly. Therefore the penalty must have an element of punitive measure about it.

A lot of curb-climbing from multiple driver. Some more than other, but due to no reports about this and the bad in-game detection at this track, I'll just give a public warning that railriding or corner cutting is not allowed.

The rules states that all wheel shall be in the road at all times.

Server replay time: 208s

Stewprovo's driving on the pace lap was pretty erratic and culminated in an off and contact with another car shortly after the rejoin. This is obviously undesirable.

  • Stewprovoadvice — more caution on the pace lap

Server replay time: 492s

Stewprovo is in front of PRibeiro, closely followed by Dave Gymer. Stewprovo misses the exit in the last turn, causing PRibeiro to close up and trying to pass on the inside. As Stewprovo sees that, he tries to block by moving slowly towords the pit wall, forcing contact with PRibeiro who has nowhere to go. Stewprovo then misses through turn 1 letting PRibeiro and Dave pass.

This is considered blocking and is not allowed.

  • Stewprovowarning — Blocking
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 536s

Closing on a hairpin turn, Stewprovo tries to pass both Dave Gymer and PRibeiro by moving to the inside during braking and braking late. He miscalculates and divebombs PRibeiro. He then continues . PRibeiro spins due to this massive hit, letting Dave Gymer to pass PRibeiro.

  • Stewprovopenalty — Over-Ambitious Overtake — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 1959s

Paul968 is closely followed by Dave Gymer and PRibeiro down the long straight before the first hairpin, when PRibeiro is moving on the inside of Dave. Paul is probably trying his best to keep Dave behind, and Dave is probably trying to pass and keep PRibeiro behind. This causes Paul to lock up when braking hard for the hairpin, which in turn causes Dave to divebomb him in the turn as he can't slow enough down and is forced to try and go on the inside, which fails. PRibeiro then rightfully passes both, but Dave lets Paul pass just down the road.

Seems it was memorable for the wrong reasons at the front!

Was it a low turn out? I seemed to struggle to fully adjust to the weight having practised offline but until i can sort out the lack of front grip i'll be staying at the back! though didnt expect to be last:(

Dave, to use your terminology, if you'd made a pass stick after going that wide, I'd call that urine extraction.

Well having watched the replay of you for a couple of laps early in the race you are clearly the kettle to my pot, running off the track pretty much every lap on the exits of the Nordkurve and the Sachskurve. I don't know why you continue to have a bee in your bonnet about this particular issue but I'm sure I'm not the only one fed up with hearing about it when you clearly don't actually follow those rules to the letter yourself either.

We all do it Dave and I've pointed that out before, but the rules specifically mention not gaining an advantage over another driver by doing it, which in this case was exactly that - you could not have made the pass without going off track.

Anyway, I never wanted the rule change you made, pretty much nobody abides by it including you, yet it it still there in the rules - daft IMO. I know I'm not the only one who has an issue with this, and it's clear that the mods are not exactly in full agreement either - look at Simon's comments only a week or 2 ago. The fact is, I would not have done as you did because I think the rules forbid it. I bet I'm not alone in this.

Everything you say here suggests that the rule about 4 wheels on the track is meaningless, so please just remove it and say that the track cutting detection will be used unless drivers are completely taking the p**s and exploiting crazy loopholes in the detection like the inside of T1.

Gentlemen.

If anybody has an issue with anybody elses driving in this or any other race, then they should submit an incident report through the proper channels. Discussions in public, and photographic evidence being posted in the public forum is just not on.

You'll still gain advantage over other drivers by cutting, even when not passing. You may close the gap, so I can't really see the difference between going off the track when passing or going off the track when not passing.

It wouldn't be much fun if someone found a loop hole, where he/she could cut through the grass and gain 3 sec a lap either.

The advatage by having the rule state that all wheels should be on the track is that it doesn't give advantage to drivers knowing where the off track detection sets in. But it could maybe be set to 2 or 1 wheels, as this seems to be where most tracks have the auto detection.

Really enjoyed this one, even tho i spun on the warm-up lap Embarrassed, which kinda ruined my best quali ever. Very sorry to PRibeiro for the touch at the hairpin, & sorry Paul for the lunge Embarrassed, TBH I did'nt miss my braking point, I just made a desparate move, which by luck, did'nt cause any damage Shocked. Finished with my best ever result, and all my body panels still attatched laugh. Congrats to podium, can't wait for next one.

the only way to sort this would be a UKGTR Hockenheim. Those efforts to make other UKGTR tracks were fantastic and rules are designed to be broken and we all have a go, for the first couple of laps keeping up with Brian at T1 i occasionally took a bit too much inside kerb whistling and other times a bit toooo much outside kerb and the rest of the field did from what i can see......so i behaved for almost the whole race because Monza popped into my head where i got dq for blatant cutting (two races):

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2633#event259 Shocked
https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=2647#event291 Shocked

All this cuts are exceptable by GTR2 rules ofc  Tongue....not one warning! and public servers do it all day long.

Its easy for me to say this as I can't redo tracks to make them UKGTR spec but its the definite answer i'm sure  Roll Eyes
