Moderator's Report

Baracus250GT started with a different driving name from the one the ballast system expected, and was thus 25kg lighter than he should have been.

This was a genuine mistake, and this being the first sseason we've run driver ballasts, also without precedent, a penalty must be applied, but will not carry any penalty points as it was not a driving standards violation.

The penalty has, somewhat arbitrarily been calculated as a time in seconds added on which is equal to the race length in minutes, multiplied by the multiples of 10 kilograms underweight; that gives 40*(25/10), or 100 seconds.

This may be a little harsh but the system clearly states the expected driving name in the same place as the event's password, and is totally reliant on the driver using the correct name in order to work properly. Therefore the penalty must have an element of punitive measure about it.

A lot of curb-climbing from multiple driver. Some more than other, but due to no reports about this and the bad in-game detection at this track, I'll just give a public warning that railriding or corner cutting is not allowed.

The rules states that all wheel shall be in the road at all times.

Server replay time: 208s

Stewprovo's driving on the pace lap was pretty erratic and culminated in an off and contact with another car shortly after the rejoin. This is obviously undesirable.

  • Stewprovoadvice — more caution on the pace lap

Server replay time: 492s

Stewprovo is in front of PRibeiro, closely followed by Dave Gymer. Stewprovo misses the exit in the last turn, causing PRibeiro to close up and trying to pass on the inside. As Stewprovo sees that, he tries to block by moving slowly towords the pit wall, forcing contact with PRibeiro who has nowhere to go. Stewprovo then misses through turn 1 letting PRibeiro and Dave pass.

This is considered blocking and is not allowed.

  • Stewprovowarning — Blocking
For advice only - unreported by victim, so penalty disregarded

Server replay time: 536s

Closing on a hairpin turn, Stewprovo tries to pass both Dave Gymer and PRibeiro by moving to the inside during braking and braking late. He miscalculates and divebombs PRibeiro. He then continues . PRibeiro spins due to this massive hit, letting Dave Gymer to pass PRibeiro.

  • Stewprovopenalty — Over-Ambitious Overtake — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 1959s

Paul968 is closely followed by Dave Gymer and PRibeiro down the long straight before the first hairpin, when PRibeiro is moving on the inside of Dave. Paul is probably trying his best to keep Dave behind, and Dave is probably trying to pass and keep PRibeiro behind. This causes Paul to lock up when braking hard for the hairpin, which in turn causes Dave to divebomb him in the turn as he can't slow enough down and is forced to try and go on the inside, which fails. PRibeiro then rightfully passes both, but Dave lets Paul pass just down the road.

What a disaster again. I'm getting sick of this over the last few weeks. Another disco.

I was sitting 2nd during qualifying only to see Purdie dissapear from 3rd. Then Baracus also went AWOL leaving me on pole. Purdie sneaked back in and landed 2nd on the grid.

From the 20mins I was racing Purdie was hot on my tail, really close racing. He could pull me in under the brakes into the hairpin and also out of. I must have set 1st gear too high.

Seemed to be 0,3 sec between us at the line every lap. Then heading up to disco I managed for the first time to get the gap to over a second and could stop worrying about being outbraked.

In the middle of the stadium the noise of Purdies car disappeared. I was not sure it was an off, but no after next corner "connection lost". How angry am I?

Was having a fantastic race with Purdie and can only hope my car did not interfere with you or anybody else.

I'm off to work now and will check the result after.

Not a great race for me, started okay but witnessed some madness ahead early on - reports to be filed. Couldn't hold PRibeiro off early on as I was protecting my tyres a bit but after the madness found myself ahead of him and just about able to hold off a challenge. This track really highlights the big differences in strengths between the front engined cars and the 911 - the former brake earlier but carry more speed into the corners.

After Paul's collection by Shark I eventually caught him and was looking for a way by but got caught out under braking for turn 2 and spun him. Sorry Paul, totally my fault. Embarrassed Two or three cars passed us as I waited for him to rejoin. Got back on his tail and forced my way up the inside into turn 1 with two laps to go but got a cut warning and had to allow him back past, couldn't get close enough on the final lap but did pick up a place from PRibeiro who was off in the last few corners.

Not a classic but sweaty palm stuff if nothing else.

Shame Brian, really sucks. I drove right through you but luckily for me I survived  sweatdrop

Was very happy with my qualification, as there was a 80kg difference between me and most other GTC cars. Paul drove off from the start and I had Simon and Madd to worry about. It was a matter of time before Simon overtook me, and he did, outbraking me at the hairpin. Few times later Madd did the same. I felt like a lamb to the slaughter, being outbraked, outaccelerated and outturned  Undecided. However, I could hold on to Madd, with a gap of 0.7s.
That stayed that way almost the whole race. However, in the end the gap increased.
Still content with 2nd in class, and thank god 60kg is maximum....right...please.... surrender helpsmilie

Grats Purdie on your win  clap

Quite a few discos tonight. My connection has been very poor the last few weeks. I'm going to have to phone my indian friends at sky again. It drops connection on a regular basis now then seconds later ok. Don't know what I can do if anything?      My car felt pretty good for a very quickly thrown together set up. It's a shame that baracus lost out on his pole position, but I was curious why his car was so light as he is leading championship. It would have been nice for a 3 car battle, but purdie gave me more than enough to worry about. Great race and good win. Unlucky too baracus.

Seems like you are having as much luck as me recently Brian Sad

After a PC lockup last week, this week my throttle suddenly wouldn't go more than 60% on! Its odd how it happened coz it was literally just after I went wide at T2 in Q (on my own) and when I got it back on track I had no full throttle! I thought at first it was a simulated problem with my car (maybe knocked something off on the kerb) but my PD was also showing it not going fully up!

This was with 3 minutes to go!

I suppose I was lucky to reboot and replug my controllers and rejoin in time - so I could have had worse luck Smiley

In the race I drove too aggressively which not only wore my tyres out too soon but made me make quite a few little mistakes and a couple of bigger ones. Still it was fun overtaking some cars. I think a lot of people felt sorry for me because there was not much fighting I had to do Smiley

Until I came to Stewprovo that is!! We had a right good battle for a few laps until he lost the back end in T2. Good scrap Smiley

Fingers crossed nobody had stupid hardware problems next time!!

Was having a fantastic race with Purdie and can only hope my car did not interfere with you or anybody else.

Actually you scared the C*** out of me, only just missed you as you can never tell if a disco'd car will spit you off the track  Shocked
Did some tweaking to the setup today and it worked wonders with the feel of the car, much more progressive and more easy to drive as a result, giving me almost 0.5 second a lap better times without needing to overdrive the car.....too much, so was very happy with my quali.

As for the Race, those Morgans are just bonkers on the straights, I got right up behind the rear wing of Shark and he just drove off into the distance, nearly outbraked hm into the hairpin but couldn't really make it stick. After a while he started hassling Jeff and eventually got past and eventually I managed to creep up on Jeff too, we had a fantastic scrap with me trying all ways to get past, I eventually squeezed him out at the hairpin and got past but I just could not shake him, so the gap stayed at about 0.6s for ages, then we came around T1 to be presented with a lot of smoke and Paul and Shark stationary in the racing line, both Jeff and I just avoided them.

And tbh apart from Bara scaring us both witless  Cheesy that's how we finished. Brilliant fun.
Grats  to Purdie btw  Wink

Yes that is weird - I am sure I read somewhere (can't find it now) that I had +25kg for this race but the results above show -10kg. Maybe I am getting confused with a different class?

It did - it was exactly in my racing line and while trying to avoid it I got into a sand trap.  Sad  Online racing, can't be helped.  Smiley

Was watching close racing between RR and MJ, was sure MJ's gonna pass, but he decided differently.  Grin  When he went off I also lost my concentration, and soon after Paul went by.  Sad  Well, he would pass anyway, he was way too fast to hold.   Roll Eyes

Good job MJ for 5th and Darren for 3rd in class.  Cool  Too bad Adam wasn't here.  Sad

It shows your name in red which indicates that you joined under a different name from what it was expecting - which is shown in the ballast list just before the race after the ballast file has been generated. I didn't note what you had in the game - given that you ended up starting from the back and didn't finish it's not really important.

I'm still getting annoying pauses whilst playing - I've reinstalled AVG on my games box without the new anti-spyware component (I don't really use that box for web surfing so it should be okay) so we'll see if that improves things.

Oh, and I got cramp in my left foot a few laps before the end which made life interesting... Shocked

Had a cracking race this evening.  Cool

Qualied 4th in a tough top end of the grid. angel

Race was mainly a superb half hour long bumper to bumper battle with Roadrunners BMW for 3rd and then 2nd place, several times getting side by side and really enjoying a tough fight
As the race wore on i could see his car getting more and more out of shape with me throwing everything but the kitchen sink at him to get past, but despite him running wide a few times, he just didnt make a mistake big enough to allow me through. I was keeping a wary eye on the fezzas of TT and PRichards a few secs back too. shifty
Eventually on lap 19? of 24 whilst still pressurising Roadrunner for 2nd place i bloody double down-shifted at out of the last corner and the car instantly snapped around on me cursing allowing TT and PR through.
I chased like a madman back after them and was taking time out of TT for the last 5 laps but despite closing back down to a couple of seconds, the race finished with me a disapointed 5th. :'(
Should have been a podium tonight and think i may have pressured RR into an error with a few more laps remaining to grab 2nd, as his tyres seemed to be going off.  Undecided

Oh well, a good team result with 4th and 5th but could have been sweeter  thumbup1

Congrats to Purdie for a fine win  thumbup2 and unlucky to Bara and Brian with their Disco Stu moments  Sad
