Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 821s

Fozzmeister gets his braking all wrong into one of the chicanes and takes a place off Paul968, who is forced onto the gravel too. Paul then returns the favour in the next chicane, missing his braking point and bumping Fozz off down the escape road.

The penalties offset each other.

  • fozzmeister (Fozzmeister)penalty — forcing Paul968 off; gaining a place by cutting a chicane — 2 places lost
  • Paul968penalty — rear ending Fozzmeister — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 843s

JM-Racing (malonejames) is following Popabawa into one of the chicanes and brakes much later than Pops. He ducks to the inside but can neither avoid nor pass Popabawa, and hits the right rear corner of the Porsche, spinning him off.

I'm inclined to view this as a braking misjudgement rather than a deliberate lunge but this is exactly the kind of incident we'd like to stamp out. When following a slower car you should ideally pull out to one side so that if they do catch you out by braking early you can safely pass them without too much drama.

Server replay time: 959s

Shark has Matjaz breathing down his neck as he comes up to lap Mike Cooper. Shark flicks his lights on, but Mike brakes much earlier than he's expecting, causing Shark to take to the runoff to avoid him, eventually half spinning as he rejoins. Matjaz, unsighted by Shark, can't avoid Mike and rear ends him, before also running over the runoff, to rejoin without spinning, and thus effectively taking a place off Shark.

This wasn't a normal rear ender as Matjaz did not have a clear view of Mike until the last moment before contact.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1035s

Shark is lapping Jamera, who seems to brake early to let him by, but then turns in on him mid-corner; there is light side contact.

  • Jameraadvice — let lapping cars through with a slight lift under power, not under braking

Server replay time: 1093s

Fozz is coming up to lap Oilseal, who is very slow out of a corner with Fozz right behind. Inevitably Fozz runs into the back of him.

Server replay time: 1160s

Jamera spins off on his own. He rejoins directly back onto the track just as Fozz is arriving on the scene, collecting him.

Fozz has time to see Jamera ahead and could have slowed down and taken a tighter line to avoid him. Jamera could and should have looked behind before driving back onto the track and continued on the grass until it was safe to rejoin.

  • fozzmeister (Fozzmeister)warning — lack of care approaching an incident
  • Jamerapenalty — dangerous rejoin — 2 places lost (plus 3 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 1615s

Bernie Lomax has clipped the curb on the way out of one of the chicanes and loses control. Fozz clips him just as he comes past, spinning out.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1698s

Matjaz is coming up to lap Popabawa, who slows down too much, too early, and is so busy looking behind at Matjaz that he loses track of where he is on the road, drifts to the right, and forces Matjaz to pass on the grass. Luckily there is just enough room for Matjaz to rejoin and brake in time for the oncoming chicane.

In the aviation world they say "aviate, navigate, communicate... in that order". In the racing world they say, "first, drive the car".

  • popabawacaution — make sure you know what you're doing before you worry about others

Hmm, tried the Monza-spec wings, 2nd lap on race fuel and mediums was 1:40.5 but I keep throwing it off the road, not good Sad

Finally managed to get below 1:41 (1:40.9 dead), then did the next two laps under 1:41 as well  Cheesy

Odd (but nice) how something just 'clicks' sometimes in this game.

Ok I have to say I think we will need to review the classification of the Porsche BiTurbo at the end of the season.
I just tried it in anger at Enna and was 2 seconds faster than any other NGT time I have (1:36.5).
As I suspected from the first two races the BiTurbo is faster down the straights than the other NGTs.

^ Best times of N-GT cars on Enna on GTRank. You just drove an awesome time m8 with the Bi-T. Which makes u 4th with this car on that track by the way. I don't think a lot of us on here will be able to do that and I'm sure noone here will take advantage of this info either Smiley.

It is however quite a lot faster on the straights though. I noticed that in a fun race on Oschersleben already, but it's also very hard to handle and eats tyres. Unlike the Seat for instance this car will not dominate the field if it's driven against N-GT cars.

I guess the thing is, you could get a small boost with it on fast tracks like Enna (Monza etc) but then opt to use a more nimble car for Estoril. So if you work the system you would have an advantage over someone that stuck to the same car for each race. Hmmm. It is a handful though and maybe that is enough penalty any time you use it to negate teh pace overall?

We'll see I guess. I think my thoughts were basically as you say that it's so hard to drive that would be disadvantage enough and I didn't think it was any faster than the other NGTs down the straight (which has proved slightly wrong). Probably have to wait to see how it is over all the different kinds of tracks before deciding, it's certainly no Seat with a clear advantage.

So far I think we've only had Bernie Lomax and maybe another driving it in championship races and he's has driven it very competitively in the NGT Sprints for some good racing so nothing too much to worry about at the moment.

I would take it at Enna myself with the straight line speed advantage but I loathe it too much to actually drive it for more than 10 minutes.  Cheesy

Agreed. Unless a lot of drivers start taking it, then no problem I guess.

My feeling is that the only guys capable of getting the best out of it are the guys who would have beaten me anyway!  Grin Wink

Time-wise, managed a 1:40.000 dead last night. Very happy with that  Grin

It also (finally!) took my GTRank to single figures! Wahoo!

Anyhoo, still struggling with my race set-up, averaging 1:44-1:45. On other tracks, the difference between my best laps and my race laps has been about 2:00-2:50s so I'm a liitle concerned this is a MUCH bigger gap.

Anyone else experiencing this at Enna?

This is normal at Enna because in qual you take HUGE risks through the tyre chicanes and much less in the race and you can gain so much time by flying at dangerous speeds through the tyres you can have a large gap in your qual and race times.

I've now managed to go down into the 1:37s with the 360 in qual, no idea what my race times will be as not done any race practice.(7 seconds off GT times.)

Thanks Shark, that makes perfect sense  Smiley

It'll be interesting to see how people approach Q's tonight, with only 15 mins to qualify, those risks through the tyres become even bigger  Shocked

Also how to approach the race as one mistake will very easily trash the car here.

The Bi Turbo def has an advantage in a straight line due to it's horsepower advantage over other NGT's. I tend to agree with the comments above tho that on the majority of circuits due to it's extra weight and it's tendency to not go around corners very well it doesn't give a substantial advantage. I've used it in both NGT sprint races to date but don't think I would have been significantly faster or slower in a 360 or GT3. I know one other driver used a Bi - Turbo at Magny and was lapped by the leaders so....
