I quit early again. Roll Eyes

Totally lost interest after a couple of off's caused by avoiding others that didn't seem to be having a very good time of it either.

Looks like a black page in the pink book  Tongue.

Qually started good, as it was Team Shark 1-2-3, but with a few minutes to go John, Dan and BACKO got in between us.

Dan was a real gentleman to test the armco and give me his spot in the formation lap  Grin.

First few laps were a sturggle on medium all rounds, 70L of fuel and +60kg(+15kg). Still I was surprised to outbrake some cars in T1.
Could only follow cars around and overtake if they made a mistake.
That's how I overtook Jon, and I had to push hard to keep him behind.
I also had some fun moments with Purdie, who liked to overtake me so much that he actually went off a few times just to overtake me again Grin
In the end I had Dan behind me and he was creeping up. It was gonna be tight after the last corner, as I really struggled there, so the finish was pretty close.

Grats Brian and Simon on the class(y) win.

Wow that was a great race.

I knew before the race I had a chance of winning my class after my off-line practice times showed me to be ahead of the Endurance pole time. With my negative ballast after throwing away the previous race lead it was now or never to grab that race win. Smiley

Qualifying was electric, managing to get a lap time in the very late 1:27s I thought I had that in the bag only for John to pip me in the last minute! Great lap time John. So 2nd in class and something like 7th overall I was really in the mix with the tightly packed grid of GT2s (also know as Porsches Wink). Nice easy start and in no time we had all lapped Tibernius in the gravel Tongue  Kiss. The start of the race was basically an exercise in not throwing it off, warming up the medium tyres and not letting anyone by. Had a great battle or three with SBG and Purdie who was my buffer to Jeff in the next GTC. Fortunately for me John up ahead had some difficulties trying to drive on two wheels and I had the class lead.

Can't remember when, but at some point I got past SBG. I don't even remember how it was just a blur of frenetic action. Then he had a battle with Purdie for a bit which gave me a couple of seconds breathing space. With 10 minutes to go I could see SBG was on his own behind me. I started thinking about the win and looking in my mirrors too much. SBG slowly got up to my car and I just held him off to the flag after he put me under real pressure for 4th. Thanks for the racing SBG, it was really enjoyable.

I don't know what it is about Sugo, but it's just one of those circuits I seem to click with. Others like Imola I will never get on with, but here I was pleased to take advantage of seemingly being good around Sugo. I was helped by somehow once again managing to create a demon Morgan setup that was both fast and stable and that really really helped. The Morgan seemed to have the right balance of grunt out of all the slow corners and great handling feel to keep it steady, especially over those door wedges they call curbs.

Ballast here we come!  Grin

Well done to Brian on the stellar times he set in that RSR and for once having luck on his side as his connection held firm and he took the win.

A better night for me tonight.

After Sunday I was looking for a good result tonight. I have finally managed to get the hang of this track and managed to master 2 great set ups for the Lambo and 911.

I'm glad my connection held up tonight. Hopefully the changes that sky have made have sorted my problems. Nothing worse than putting in practice, then having a good race only to be undone by a disco.

Qualifying went well for me. Was probably trying way too hard to set a really fast time and made too many mistakes. Was very surprised to find myself over 1.2secs quicker than second place.

Race started very well. Managed to gain a good lead after first lap and that allowed me to find a steady pace without taking any risks.

No problems with backmarkers tonight. Either they were so far off the track in the gravel I could pass easily, or I had enough time to sit back and wait until the next straight.

Congrats to podium in all classes, I missed finishing positions as phone went the second the race ended.

Well that was a mixed bag, quality wise Smiley

Some of the driving in quali was a ruddy disgrace Angry Lost count of the times I was either bulked by people on their outlap (even one plonker straight from pit lane ffs), had to avoid people rejoining any which way and those driving way to fast for their talents. Thx to those hoot toots my quali was at least half a second of what I should have done cause I got seriously wound up (silly really). However, that was just not good enough.

Forget that shambles, the quality of those I battled in race was great Grin. I was trying to calm down for first few laps and then I was struck by double shifts thanks to my wheel slipping (prolly when I beat my desk during quali Grin) . Fiddling around with that on main straight, looked up and got fixated on Shark in my rear view mirror into T1. Made a right horlicks of it but somehow managed to avoid both Shark and Purdie (exciting moment that chaps). Finally got me wheel to behave and very slowly caught up with Shark and had a fantastic dice with him for last 10 minutes which more than made up for quali. He drove superbly and my faith is now restored Smiley

Could have perhaps gained a place with a better quali but can't be to upset to finish there Grin. Congrats to podium and Shark for his win.

I thought I would highlight, that only 4 lap records and not all class records appear at the top of the screen. I noticed than a couple of weeks ago from a different circuit.

It's good for a guide but the GT1 times are missing

EDIT

Ignore this, I just realised it's in the GT1 race. I thought they all appeared together

As usual I must thank Shark for sorting me a out setup. Just 2 secs quicker than my effort on Sunday! Still made too many mistakes, especially on power out of the corners. Sorry Dan for taking you out in qually as you were kindly letting me past.

I still don't really like this track, seems the difference in grip between the tracks definition of a racing line and off it is huge. Still I'm chuffed to bits with being on the pace, even if others have more ballast Wink

That is exactly why I race with you guys Cheesy
Some really close and hard but fair battles with Mark M, Peter Allnut and Dave (side by side recovery action!). Sorry to Mark for knocking you off Sad

Knew I should have gone with my instincts and taken hard rears, but I thought about it too long and applied 'my' logic, and went meds all round. The rears were cooking straight away so it turned into a tyre management race for me which was kinda cool. At least it helped me not push too much.

I realised too late that I didnt have to brake as much as I was in certain places and was really getting into a nice groove so cold have done with some more laps of that! Quite a nice flow to this track I reckon.

Whoohoo !  well chuffed with 3rd, had a great race.  Cool

Qually went very well despite not matching my PB. Was in 2nd place for almost the entire session, then Paul Richards jumped in front with a few mins left. I immediately went out and was on a faster lap, -0.5 secs in the final sector only for me to somehow lose it in final 2 turns and finish the lap .01 down Huh, otherwise would have nabbed 2nd place. :'(
Then to add insult to injury John appeared out of nowhere in his Morgan and grabbed 3rd place, the cheeky swine  taz
I sat on the grid thinking that a GTC in front of me was going to seriously scupper any assault on Paul R and thankfully i was able to safely outbreak him on the first flying lap down at the end of the first straight. Cool
I then spent the first 15-20 mins glued to Paul Richards Fezza ass hoping that he would make an error but he was super-consistent and i could only keep close as possible for lap after lap enjoying some great racing. With nearly 20 mins gone, I nearly had a moment following him too closely in sector 3 and got two wheels up on those slippery bast high kerbs. Shocked
Luckily i kept my wits about me and just backed right off and stayed straight, if i had turned the wheel it would have spat me off into a spin. Alas it gave Paul a 4 second breather as i lost all momentum before that titanic final turn.
He then kept that gap constant through the rest of the entire race until the final couple of laps where it went down to about 2 seconds and i brought it home for a well deserved podium slot.

Backmarkers were ace tonight, though Tibs was scaring the crap outta me with his off-road excursions! But he moved nicely over whenever i lapped him, thanks. angel

Congrats to Paul R for a great race and a well deserved 2nd place and accolades galore to Brian who was on another planet this eve with his amazing 1:26 qual pace Shocked  God knows where you found a whole extra second over us?, i thought my Porker setup pretty spot on but you must have come up with something super-clever !  I Am Not Worthy

Yea, the whole thing is totaly scr...d up.  Angry Had problems in Sunday already but today it was...   Lips Sealed  I was getting in the way of the Pops Vertigo the whole time and once we touched I decided it's just not working and then drove behind the group.  Sad The shity thing is that the store has my replacement wheel ready and they informed me today at the END of their working day!  Roll Eyes  How st00pid is that!  Tongue
