Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 112s

Maurice Claessen spins off whilst trying to warm his tyres. He rejoins after waiting for the field to pass.

Server replay time: 205s

David Milne (kidzer) starts accelerating early at the end of the pace lap. Smoothy then hits him from behind on the run into turn 1, before making side contact with Locutos. David's car spins backwards into Colin P, taking him out too, and the track is effectively blocked by the ensuing chaos.

David went too early and didn't help matters by turning what was a relatively safe single file snake into T1 into a two abreast situation, but Smoothy was the principle cause of the T1 carnage, with a lunge up alongside Locutos which would in and of itself have been dangerous enough on lap 1, but which by virtue of the contact with David Milne reduced the second half of the field to scrap metal.

Smoothy might well have been annoyed with David's overhasty start but two wrongs don't make a right.

  • David M (David Milne)warning — premature acceleration on the pace lap
  • Smoothypenalty — contact with David Milne and Locutos — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 259s

Woodee totally fudges up his braking into the first tyre chicane, collecting first Tazman and then cb95amc.

Woodee's car then bounces back into the path of Smoothy.

I'm sure it wasn't a deliberate passing attempt (although Woodee never submitted an incident report) but it's the first flying lap and far more caution is called for.

cb95amc then tried reversing out of the sand trap, understandable but unwise without waiting for the field to pass, as he then hits the recovering Woodee, who subsequently has a very hard time extracting himself from behind those huge curbs.

  • cb95amcpenalty — dangerous rejoin — 1 place lost
  • Woodeepenalty — contact with Tazman — 3 places lost

Server replay time: 266s

Sharks spins coming out of the second tyre chicane, collecting Mark Harrison and Luis Branco.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 537s

Smoothy is under pressure from Colin P and makes a lunge up the inside of Jamera into turn 1, but it's from far too far back and Jamera quite reasonalby turns in, whereupon there is contact.

Having been knocked off, Jamera then allows his car to run slowly backwards across the track, forcing Mark Harrison off the road. If you're spinning, get on the brakes and stay on them until you either stop or are safely away from the track, otherwise you turn your car into an unpredictable missile, even at low speeds.

  • Jameracaution — stay on the brakes during a spin until you come to a stop
  • Smoothypenalty — over-ambitious overtake — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 627s

Smoothy attempts to go up the inside of Oilseal into the final chicane, and they get into one of those awkward "am I ahead or not" positions where they're jostling to be ahead at the end of the braking zone. Smoothy tries to back out of the move but in the end Oilseal locks his right front and never makes the corner.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 755s

Jamera spins and JonM can do nothing to avoid him.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 820s

Smoothy tries to pass wobble (Don1) into the final bus stop but it's a late stab up the inside, Smoothy locks his right front and is never going to be able to leave Don any room, so when Don1 turns in he is bumped off across the gravel.

  • Smoothypenalty — contact with Don1 — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 844s

Smoothy then catches Don1 again at turn 1. Don brakes earlier than Smoothy, and the latter runs up alongside and then over the curb to avoid him as he turns in, but there's contact as Smoothy bounces back onto the track and Don goes off again.

Smoothy then slows to allow Don1 to repass him. As a general principle we don't recommend doing this as it creates additional danger for any additional following cars, but in this case it was done safely and so the penalty for contact can be reduced.

  • Smoothypenalty — contact with Don1 — 1 place lost

Server replay time: 1004s

JonM is tucked right up behind cb95amc. cb moves to the right to take the line for the upcoming chicane, but drops two wheels onto the grass just as they reach the braking zone, slowing much more than JonM was expecting and causing him to run into the back of cb.

The contact was caused by cb95amc's momentary loss of control, and not by poor driving standards.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1178s

Bernie Eccle has destroyed his engine by accidently driving on completely the wrong line into a stack of tyres. Smoothy is coming down just as Bernie decides it's safe to move off; there's some very light contact.

Bernie waited some considerable time to try and make sure that the coast was clear, but was parked in a position which made it virtually impossible to see clearly if anything was coming.

He's then parked on the track, smoking gently when JonM comes through at racing speed and stands no chance of avoiding a big accident.

A fairly dreadful race for me.
I don't like this track, I think it's silly.

Lap 1, turn 1, someone came by me who couldn't possibly have been obeying the rule that says "don't accelerate until the one in front does".
At least I think that's what the rule says.
We both crashed into the more sensible drivers in front.  Sorry!

I also made some rather dubious overtaking attempts which failed miserably.
After I've seen the replay I'll report myself.

Looking on the bright side, I had no 'Simbins'.

Was a good qualifying battle. Was a little annoyed not to get pole with you pipping me by 2 thousands or something like that, well done. I was on a flyer near the end of qual with not long to go a couple of tenths up on my time and whacked the tyres into tyre chicane #1 ending my chances of getting a better time. I had a good laugh at that one I must admit.

I too didn't have an incident free race, despite winning. I clipped the curb too hard going through tyre chicane #2 very early on and span a couple of times with Mark behind me having no where to go but get collected. Sorry Mark, not much I could do and we carried on ok until later when you had an intimate moment with the tyres at tyre chicane #1 and looked to completely destroy your car but somehow carried on.

Finally, for all those who think it's impossible to have close racing at Enna that doesn't end in tears have a look at the battle between myself and FlyBri. Between 450s and 780s on the server replay. Excellent fun and clean which eventually led to me passing Fly when he made a little mistake through the second tyre chicane. Good battle Fly, enjoyed that.

Thanks shark for the good race man, my best performance to date  Grin like you said m8, it was clean and great fun, there was one point where i made a poor exit from one of the chicanes (2nd tyre chicane i think) and you were along side me on the long sweeping right hander, i looked back and got confused as to what side you were passing me on (always confuses me when i look back  Shocked)lol i crapped myself, closed my eyes and waited for the contact...... i tried to stay on the same line due to my confusion otherwise i would have given you a bit more room to pass. My point is , i wasnt trying to block you or anything like that. Then i had that lock up which gave you a chance to pass which you took very nicely.  Cool

Near the end, we hit traffic and i managed to get within a second or two, but then i got stuck behind a backmarker who shall remain nameless (*cough* tomcooper*cough*) for half a lap. A quick apology to Tom as i just tagged him in the middle of a chicane (he did touch the brakes at the apex!!) after that i lost my rhythm and the gap was up to about 8 seconds.

Good Job on your win Shark, you deserved it dude. You were at least a second a lap quicker. I was more than happy with my performance, i never left the track once, hit any barriers or tyre walls  Grin Cant wait to get home from work and watch the replay Smiley

Must say I really enjoyed last nights race, Enna is a bugger of a track in my mind.

I qualified really badly, just couldn't get hooked up at all so only made 20th on the grid. Thankfully, due to a couple of nice moves and so many people having unfortuante events I managed to finish in 7th. Shark just lapped me on the last corner of the race LOL.

Gotta get sorted for the endurance race on this track or I'll be about 5 laps down LOL.

I'm going to try and make the Escort race tomorrow.

Having done the Enna GT race (we're all doooomed in the Endurance races there!) I've finally got round to doing the championship standing pages properly. Hope you like them. Grin
