I've come to the conclusion I'm definitely of the fickle persuasion.  Undecided

GTR2 was my first introduction to "proppa" Sim racing following a brief stint on Toca 3 on the PS2. I then bought the first Race but was thoroughly disappointed, the online community wasn't there, my PC seemed to struggle with it online and the WTCC cars just weren't doing it for me like my beloved F550 in GTR2. Played it three times i think, every time returning to GTR2 promptly.

Then I caught a mention of GT Legends in a forum somewhere and being a big fan of historic motorsport decided to give it a bash. A lengthy love affair ensued with the Escort RS and its tail happy ways, not to mention the abundance of track and skin add-ons which made the game just an absolute joy. From the first boot that was it, i never thought it possible but GTR2' hasn't graced my DVD drawer since.

Well temptation strikes once again. Race '07, a new mistress. I should be ashamed. I couldn't resist pre-ordering and man, it took me a good 10 mins to wipe the smile off my face after my first few white knuckle laps in an F3000! They're kinda quick aren't they!? :0) Going up through the gears was a joy, and for that matter, so was braking and coming down again.  Had to kill the shadows in order to get a decent frame rate but the game's still the most fun you can have with your clothes on. I hope one day to return to GTL but I think i'm leading her on. Who am i kidding, i'm happy here.  Grin

I may not be an authority on this stuff but as a real motor sport fan, this F3000 stuff is far and away the closest i've personally seen to to a decent F1 sim. Got to confess, i've still not developed the same love for the WTCC cars. Next to the F3000, FBMW, Radicals and Caterhams they seem a bit pedestrian but they do seem to be very popular judging by the number of servers running them online...maybe it'll come over time.

When games this good are released, its only fair to give them a little lip service and Race '07 in my opinion really is that good so this is my ten penneth.

Look forward to catching some of you online. The skills are improving so i'm looking to get into a league, i can also do a bit with Photoshop so hope to contribute to some of the awesome skins i've seen already.

Cheers,

James

I think he means that the WTCC cars are pedestrian compared to F3000, radicals, etc, or at least that's how I read it.

Lol, that makes more sense thanks Paul. I was ready to dismiss James as madman for saying the Caterhams are pedestrian Grin

James, hope you have the chance to race Race either Wednesday or Monday. And, personally, hopefully we wont see much WTCC Smiley

Ah, yes, that makes a lot more sense.

FWD will still be outlawed when I'm made president. Cheesy

Thanks for that Tibernius, have PM'd Tony.

No definitely love the Radicals Gizmo, awesome fun but i reckon there might be a few tenths left to be had still ;0) Oh, if you do run, you can count on my vote  Grin.

I'm just struggling to find the tin tops interesting and unfortunately they seem to be one of the faves among the public servers at least. I spent a bit of time trying to stick at it with them yesterday but it still just doesn't appeal. Minis around Brands Indy were a giggle but its a real change of pace.

Thanks for the heads up Gizmo, I look forward to Monday.....to the practice server!

Cheers,

J

Don't worry if you don't get a reply from Tony, he's in Dubai at the moment.

I've been thinking of getting Race '07, would it run on this?

No. Hearing how many problems you have with GTR2 and taking into consideration that Race07 is heavier than GTR2, it will probably be a no go untill you upgrade your system.

I'm thinking of Formatting the HDD next year, complete reinstall of everything, incluiding XP. Maybe that'll help?

Probably, but have you tried the demo? I can run the demo fine on my comp, with very similar sepcs as you have. But I'm not sure how that will translate into the real version. I can also keep about 50-60FPS during online races with about 20 cars.

Tried the demo, it ran at about 11 FPS. I could probably make some changes to the .plr file.
I still don't know what's slowing this pc down.

No idea mate, my worse spec old pc runs it much better than yours. Race 07 should run fine on medium/low settings on your PC, but with GTR2 performance like you have, there's just no point trying.

Reformat that bugger, install everything again, remove norten. I hate norten Tongue
