I need your help.

Tried starting Race 07 today and it wouldn't start. This was using the desktop icon

Then tried to start it from the folder in Steam. No joy. Got message saying couldn't find  "Steam.dll try reinstalling"

Uninstalled Race 07 from Add/Remove progs

Put disc in drive. No autoplay

Tried enabling Autoplay

Opened up disc in Windows Explorer

Tried clicking Race 07 Install

Nothing at all. What am I doing wrong?

The only changes I have made to my machine is to upgrade my ATI card drivers. This involved uninstalling old drivers.

Both GTR2 and GTL work.

I have also removed Steam.

Help

Sounds to me like your Steam software is kippered. Did you try fully reinstalling your Steam account?
I'd get rid of Race07 completely from my machine then try a clean and fresh install of Steam and then Race07 again.
Fingers crossed.

My advice...Stay well clear of anything made by EA. Almost all of their new games end up with problems like this.

I'm actually glad I didn't buy Race '07 now! laugh

Huh what??? Race '07 is NOT, I repeat...NOT made by E(xtremely)A(rrogant). Simbin is resposible for making that game.

I know, I'm just saying that if anyone thinks Simbin games have bugs they obviously haven't played BF2142!

I've cleared out all the Steam and Race 07 stuff but no luck.

When I Explore the DVD and try to use Race07installer.exe I'm told that its not a valid Win32 file

Whats going on

You could try reinstalling Steam from their website. Hopefully it will leave your installed games and settings intact.

Re installed Steam and now the only way I can get the game seems to be to d/l it.

I hope that then I can use the code on the box to activate but the d/l is taking forever.

What a crazy state of affairs.

And, of course, I miss another race.

Bugger............what am I going to tell Tinman when he gets back.......I shall have to face the Wrath of Khan I suppose

Sounds like a problem with the disc. Is it still under warranty?

Got it working again after d/l from Steam.

Didn't have to put in activation code or anything.

Seems a strange state of affairs when I own the disc but cant reinstall from it.

I was wondering if you can only install once from disc and then its got to be Steam.

I had thought it was a problem with my drive but GTR2 and GTL work fine.

I'm semi convinced it was the installation of the new ATI drivers that was the start of it all.

I did system restore to beforehand but it didn't work. But in hindsight I did clear out my Recycle bin before I restored.

Funny thing is my disc is still not being read. It shows up as Race07 in the drive but with no icon.

Anyway I'm not wasting anymore time on it.

Of course I'll now miss tomorrows race as its my wedding anniversary. Number 37........Christ

So God knows when I'll get to race (or rather tag on at the back of the field)

Thanks to all who posted advice
