Moderator's Report

Special mention must go to as-here who got the 1 FPS bug and managed to remove the first marker board at Adelaide. Perhaps at the end of the season we should have a booby prize for the most inopportune accidental removal of a brake marker.

Server replay time: 689s

Earlier in the lap, Mo had run off at Adelaide as a result of the missing brake marker. He dropped from second to fifth as a consequence.

Having slotted back in just behind Zacari, he tries a infeasibly late lunge up the inside at Chateau d'Eau, and contact is only prevented because Zacari took avoiding action by allowing himself to run wide after his initial turn in.

  • mopenalty — over-ambitious overtake — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 735s

Maurice Claessen is coming round to lap Fozz. On the way out of Estoril, Fozz runs very slightly wide, touches the green stuff outside of the curb, loses the back end and collects Maurice.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1582s

[ZiP]Tyf is being lapped by Mo as he goes into Imola, and clips a bollard on the left, sending him spinning into the gravel. Mo then promptly loses control ont the way out of Imola. Nick Philips is right behind Tyf and cannot avoid him.

Although Tyf didn't report this incident, I believe he wasn't expecting Mo to lap him quite so late into Imola. Indeed, this seems like a very unwise place to attempt to lap a car when the run out of Chateau d'Eau, and a much safer pass under power, is only a few seconds away. On the other hand, one might have expected Tyf to blend off the thottle or hold a tight line out of 180° to help Mo past.

Zacari in the mean time is racing up towards Imola, and as he arrives, Tyf is spin turning to rejoin (he has nowhere else to turn). Zacari ducks right to avoid him, then left to avoid Mo, gets the car stable again, accelerates briefly as passes the marker board, and finally brakes slightly too late to actually make Chateau d'Eau, running off.

If the replay is accurate, Zacari could and should have seen the dust and smoke from the incidents ahead and slowed. I would imagine the yellow flag warning was also showing.

Nick was the only truly innocent victim in this whole incident.

  • moadvice — be patient when lapping cars, and try to pass under power not on the brakes
  • Zacariadvice — slow down when you see an incident ahead
  • [ZiP]Tyf ([ZIP]TYF)advice — the earlier you let a lapping car by the safer a pass they will make

Server replay time: 2170s

Iain lets Bombdogs lap him in Chateau d'Eau, and the latter runs slightly wide on the exit, allowing Zacari to get alongside. Zacari is ahead as they brake for Lycee, but he moves left into the middle of the track whilst braking, giving Bombdogs very little room.

Bombdogs then tries to cut back to the inside as they enter the corner, but he tags Zacari who spins. Bombdogs then allows Zacari to rejoin ahead of him.

Under most circumstances Bombdogs would get a penalty for the contact, but in this case there are two mitigating factors; firstly, that Bombdogs allowed Zacari to retake the place (not always recommended but in this case done safely), and secondly, Zacari did not take a clear inside or outside line into Lycee, leaving Bombdogs with very little margin for error and nowhere safe to aim for.

  • Bombdogswarning — contact with Zacari
  • Zacariadvice — when passing under braking, stick to one side of the track

Server replay time: 2786s

Maurice tries to lap Popabawa under braking into Chateau d'Eau, but comes from too far back, realises too late that the move isn't quite going to work, snatches a brake, and there is contact. Popabawa was going quite slowly but Maurice should have planned to pass safely under power on the run out and down to Lycee.

I'm reducing this penalty to one place instead of the usual two because Pop's slow speed entering the corner created a little ambiguity in the situation.

Well I've had to end up quitting after 12mins!!!!!!!!! I think its because my pit space was allocated right on the exit line, therefore it didn't recognise that i was there, although it prevented me from moving off, this game seriously needs sorting out

Well guess the points wont show it but did enjoy that tonight.
Some tremendous clean battling going on for the podium places, and felt I had a chance of a top 3.

The going through the quick right left drop a Porsche let one GT through then span in front of me ( no problem BTW one of those things!) and gave me nowhere to go.
Dropped me a lap or two down and then forget to increase fuel to allow so had to pit again. Last couple of laps were a shambles but guess getting beaten by the NGT's won't matter for GT points.

Could have been a lot better but take it on the chin and look forward to the next round.

Great racing though guys

qualed 2nd ngt behind Tyf

passed him pretty quick... hit 2 invisible bollards and was behind 3 ngt cars

the leader (tyf i think) of us 4 spun...1 down
the middle of the 3 left spun... 2 down

only pops left Tongue I caught him and passed Grin

started to relax knowing i was ngt nr1, then i see tyf catching and catching. so i think i gotta put me foot down here and maybe he made some mistakes also but i was gradually pulling away

i got really confused after pitting as i didnt really know where i came back

i cant really remember but i think i came out just in front of dave gymer... got hit by a lister then passed him again

either way i won NGT even passing a very late pitting lambo in the last 5 mins Tongue Cheesy Cheesy

nice race thnx m8s :-)

Whens The Next Race?

View Profile WWW
« Reply #20 on: August 07, 2005, 10:52:49 PM +0100 »

Joined in for some racing with division 2 drivers and was having a great time chasing Don1 around for the 1st few laps in the BMW, but spun sideways in a turn and fell behind a little, but was getting back into traffic and on lap 13 I had 1 FPS bug show up again, just like in last weeks race. Very frustrating, I even turned of the replay option hoping to cure this problem as some have reported it fixing. No luck. I guess it's time to reinstall the game or throw it into the trash and wait for Rfactor, haven't decided yet.

Any one have some suggestions on the 1 FPS problem? I really enjoy driving in the series but if this is going to continue in every race, it's just not possible.

Thanks
Glen

I was that Lambo Iain, lost the will to live by then and burnt the tyres up last couple of laps as well just decided passing you would make no difference in the GT class so just wanted to bring it home.

Mixed feelings. Having really hashed up quali delighted to get to 2nd with a lap to go (all be it a lap behind Jon). Then had my my first spin and surrendered place to Greg so not sure how to feel, apart from knackered. However I got to say that was best race so far (do I say that every time?) with great 2 abreast action into fast chicanes really getting me buzzing. Especially good fun with Nick who I think overtook me 3 times Grin. Thanks once again chaps.

Well that was fun!  Cheesy allbeit a bit scrappy.

Started 2nd was very happy with that, then had a 'wonderful' idea of changing my race setup last minute to hard rear tyers, which seemed a good idea at the time, but changed the rear end of the car into one bouncing sliding monster!   V. early on lost 2nd then had a good battle with MO for 3rd/4th, then the rear end was all over the shop under braking and exiting corners.  After a couple of very big slides, a tap from behind (not sure who from), and a small spin (after the 150 board got clattered i think... damn you!!!) I ended up pitting about 5 laps early.

Put on medium rear tyers and it helped restore the balance of the car, but I didn't adjust the fuel and I knew I would run out around lap 35.  Had a couple of battles with people, and a couple of offs from weird incidents involving other cars, ended up 6th I think with 1 laps fuel left.  Had some good close racing and saw a few good NGT battles too, can't think of any drivers being lapped doing anything other than being curteous so thanks guys Smiley

Overall a good race which turned out nicely in the end for me.
Qualed 5th, not too bad.
Race started and I decided to follow the lead cars around for a while to see what happened, nice steady pace not pushing too hard.
Well one by one they spun off, bargain I'm up to 2nd and holding Jon to around 20 secs in front and the 3rd place car around 10 secs behind.

About 3/4 thro the 1st stint I loose concentration, forget that the 150 board is missing and overshot the hairpin, no probs still in second until I spin it again on the same lap and drop down to 3rd.  Frustrating or what , cost me around 15 secs in total for the silly mistake, not to mention overheating the tyres and having to be extra carefull for the next couple of laps.

Anyway slowly catch up with SBG, he pits and I take over the lead for a lap.
Pit in which takes an age and rejoin 11 secs behind in 4th place, god knows how that happened.
So on we go, 3rd pits, up to 3rd again, about 11 secs behind SBG with not to many laps to go, Mo is behind me and giving me some hassle, time to get a move on.

After a few laps Mo has a spin and I'm right up behind SBG, take the inside line to overtake him and spin on exit, bugger only 2 laps left, whilst I'm catching him fairly quickly I figure we are going to run out of laps.
Then disaster for SBG, he has a spin right in front of me and I'm up into 2nd again with 1 lap too go, just a case of bringing it home now without doing anything daft.
Grats to Jon who drove a great race and thanks to SBG for that final spin handing me 2nd place. ( Only kidding mate, bad luck,I don't think I would have got past you )

Overall an enjoyable race with a couple of frustrating silly mistakes which could have proved more expensive than they did.

Bad race.

Spun, Pitted, Did one lap, clipped a curb coming out of the first set of corners (often go over in the 360) and it turns me into a missle going 90 degrees to the direction i was going. I took out somebody in that and am gutted for it. I only wanted to stay out of ppl's way and have a bit of fun and that happens, spun a few more times and quit.

I thought I had that Seat covered, liked it greatly in qual, Z3 next time I think.

Good stuff peeps,

Although I think the Bi-T is a lot better in the wet (last D1 endurance race Smiley). It really is a boat I guess you can say, heh! Cheesy

Qualified fastest N-GT I think (not sure if I was quicker than Fozz in the non-scoring Seat), which was nice, but I knew that wasn't going to last Wink.
Decent start, let Iain by after a couple of laps, because I noticed he was a little quicker and I was trying to preserve my tyres for later. Was on a 1 stop, tyres only strategy, because the fuel could just make it. Which turned out reasonably right, I decided to make an extra stop in the end, just because I had a 1 min lead over #13 and the Bi-T is really hard on tyres.
Race itself was a bit scrappy for me. Couple of incidents with GT cars trying to overtake me in the wrong places in my opinion, a Seat who was breaking earlier than I expected and of course the dog I was driving barking at me for 60 mins, lol! Wink Cheesy Grin

Overall a good race and uuuuuuuh, if I'm correct a double win for ZE INSANE PENGUINS! Woohoo! You can both thank me later for holding up the entire field when they tried to overtake me Wink.

T

P.S. Oooh and Iain, check your mail... Obviously you failed to read the team orders... Your illustrious clanleader was supposed to win N-GT!  Shocked Angry Wink Cheesy Grin
P.P.S. Sometimes the server/connection felt a bit unstable/low fps. Anyone had that same problem?
