Moderator's Report

Special mention must go to as-here who got the 1 FPS bug and managed to remove the first marker board at Adelaide. Perhaps at the end of the season we should have a booby prize for the most inopportune accidental removal of a brake marker.

Server replay time: 689s

Earlier in the lap, Mo had run off at Adelaide as a result of the missing brake marker. He dropped from second to fifth as a consequence.

Having slotted back in just behind Zacari, he tries a infeasibly late lunge up the inside at Chateau d'Eau, and contact is only prevented because Zacari took avoiding action by allowing himself to run wide after his initial turn in.

  • mopenalty — over-ambitious overtake — 2 places lost

Server replay time: 735s

Maurice Claessen is coming round to lap Fozz. On the way out of Estoril, Fozz runs very slightly wide, touches the green stuff outside of the curb, loses the back end and collects Maurice.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 1582s

[ZiP]Tyf is being lapped by Mo as he goes into Imola, and clips a bollard on the left, sending him spinning into the gravel. Mo then promptly loses control ont the way out of Imola. Nick Philips is right behind Tyf and cannot avoid him.

Although Tyf didn't report this incident, I believe he wasn't expecting Mo to lap him quite so late into Imola. Indeed, this seems like a very unwise place to attempt to lap a car when the run out of Chateau d'Eau, and a much safer pass under power, is only a few seconds away. On the other hand, one might have expected Tyf to blend off the thottle or hold a tight line out of 180° to help Mo past.

Zacari in the mean time is racing up towards Imola, and as he arrives, Tyf is spin turning to rejoin (he has nowhere else to turn). Zacari ducks right to avoid him, then left to avoid Mo, gets the car stable again, accelerates briefly as passes the marker board, and finally brakes slightly too late to actually make Chateau d'Eau, running off.

If the replay is accurate, Zacari could and should have seen the dust and smoke from the incidents ahead and slowed. I would imagine the yellow flag warning was also showing.

Nick was the only truly innocent victim in this whole incident.

  • moadvice — be patient when lapping cars, and try to pass under power not on the brakes
  • Zacariadvice — slow down when you see an incident ahead
  • [ZiP]Tyf ([ZIP]TYF)advice — the earlier you let a lapping car by the safer a pass they will make

Server replay time: 2170s

Iain lets Bombdogs lap him in Chateau d'Eau, and the latter runs slightly wide on the exit, allowing Zacari to get alongside. Zacari is ahead as they brake for Lycee, but he moves left into the middle of the track whilst braking, giving Bombdogs very little room.

Bombdogs then tries to cut back to the inside as they enter the corner, but he tags Zacari who spins. Bombdogs then allows Zacari to rejoin ahead of him.

Under most circumstances Bombdogs would get a penalty for the contact, but in this case there are two mitigating factors; firstly, that Bombdogs allowed Zacari to retake the place (not always recommended but in this case done safely), and secondly, Zacari did not take a clear inside or outside line into Lycee, leaving Bombdogs with very little margin for error and nowhere safe to aim for.

  • Bombdogswarning — contact with Zacari
  • Zacariadvice — when passing under braking, stick to one side of the track

Server replay time: 2786s

Maurice tries to lap Popabawa under braking into Chateau d'Eau, but comes from too far back, realises too late that the move isn't quite going to work, snatches a brake, and there is contact. Popabawa was going quite slowly but Maurice should have planned to pass safely under power on the run out and down to Lycee.

I'm reducing this penalty to one place instead of the usual two because Pop's slow speed entering the corner created a little ambiguity in the situation.

i cant really remember but i think i came out just in front of dave gymer... got hit by a lister then passed him again

Yeah - just for a few laps I was leading NGT with my cunning non-stop strategy in the Vertislow. Had run off earlier letting Nick through in the Team Shark Lambo but no damage done, but lost valuable seconds which meant it was far too easy for you to catch me. Assuming that the results screen after the race was correct, that was still second in class and I have to be pretty pleased with that considering my awful qualifying performance. Cheesy

I also boobed putting too much fuel in - I knew the Vertigo is easy on fuel but didn't know how easy compared to the time the game shows - I ended up with 9 laps too much. Wonder how much time I could've saved without the extra. Roll Eyes Tyres actually lasted the distance although I did have to cool them for a couple of laps in the last 15 minutes 'cause they were getting a little toasty... Shocked

Bit of a mixed bag for me that race, got lots of practice being overtaken (again and again!) by the GT's at least!

Had the 1FPS after about 10 mins of qualifying. Haven't had that for *ages*, thought I'd cured it. Got back in to post a decent time so I qualified as well as expected, 3rd in the scoring NGT's. Blistering times from Iain & Tyf, well beyond my best lap times at MC so hat's off to you guys there.

Super start to the race with as-here all over me, had to battle really hard to keep my place, then found myself leading the NGT's as Tyf span! That gets a big WhooHoo as it may well never happen again!  Grin Didn't last long as Iain chased me down and passed far too easily for my liking  Embarrassed

On the next lap I failed to see the first braking marker had been clobbered and completely missed my braking point into the first hairpin, locked the brakes and flew right to the back of the gravel, that is a LONG way! So long, that I couldn't see the track, got disoriented, then almost tried to re-join at the wrong point, had to double back to get to the correct re-joining point. AARGH! Think I lost about a minute on that little detour  Angry

Pitted for tyres and fuel after 30 mins, regrouped and tried to chase down Tyf in front of me. No chance, he was pulling out 2-3 secs a lap on me. Had a brief moment of hope when Tyf pitted towards the end but the gap was too big.

Congrats to Iain, Dave & Tyf on their podium places.

Great work from the GT guys as well, very patient and courteous overtaking, though you must have been sick of overtaking NGT's in the end!

Pops.

Greg, I can only make it to 2 away games this season. Southampton is one. Then, on new years eve (bloody odd day for football), I head up north were we will have an easy three points Grin.

Playoffs! I'm so pessimistic that the first result I looked for was Crewe.

Any one have some suggestions on the 1 FPS problem? I really enjoy driving in the series but if this is going to continue in every race, it's just not possible.

Take a look at this thread...

well I enjoyed the racing last night - first time I've been able to keep up with anyone!
had a buzz with Greg130 and Zacari for a while - couldnt catch you Greg130
although I still think I need to practice turning, oh yeah and braking, er.. and concentrating.
One of these days I'll manage to bring it accross the finish line instead of smashing it into the scenery....

I turn it off for races nowadays. Shame but people just can't stop yakking it seems!

you still hear the 'click' though so the distraction is only lessened.
