As the cars are atarting to engange speed limiter at the end of pace lap, some car make contact with cars in front.
The first cars are fine, but Zacari(P4) is very close to Brian(P3) before Brian engages his limiter. So when Brian engages his limiter, he slows a tad sudden forcing Zacari to make contact. This then propagate through the field.
Just before he rear ends Zacari, Paul Richards(P5) engages his limiter; before Zacari enables his. This makes Simon(P6) close up before engaging his limiter, only to involve him as Paul then rear ends Zacari.
Gazza49er(P7) is closing his gap very fast as the cars in front are closing to engange limiter, and has to brake a bit hard to avoid (which he doesn't) rear ending them as they make contact. He also engages his limiter before the car in front.
H@L9000(P12) engages his limiter before the car in front.
Truetom(P10) uses 15 sec to close up and engage limiter after P9 has engaged his limiter.
Popabawa(P20) engages his limiter before the car in front of him.
Andy Eves(P24) engages his limiter before the car in front of him.
Jan Duijs(P23) engages his limiter before the car in front of him.
Mark Jonso(21) first engages his limiter. But as he sees he could close some more before engaging he disengages the limiter, closes up, end reinganges it. This probably has something to do with all the confusion ahead though.
Paul968(P19) engages his limiter before the car in front of him.
Evert Blommert(P28) engages his limiter before the car in front of him.
Jon Moore(P18) is engaging his limiter long before Ruskus(P17).
Don Wright(P31) engages his limiter before the car in front of him.
Ruskus(P17) is able to avoid the accident in front as the pace lap is nearing it's end, but is very slow to catch up with the field and to engage his limiter as the field is back in the correct line.
Summary:
The first driver follow the prosedure according to rules, but then P4 is too close before P3 engages his limiter. P5 then giver nurishment to this ripple by closing and engaging his limiter before the car in front, so he rear ends that car. This then get new nurishment as the wave progresses through the field and many other drivers either turn on their limiter too early, turns it on, off and back on, or engaes it too late.
If anyone is unsecure about the rolling start procedure, just read about it in the "Start here" section.
Correction 17feb08:
Ruskus(P17) gets a bit confused by Midderhoff(P16) who disappears just as the first stock up begins, he then waits for him to reappear in front, and doesn't see that he's now in 12th. I'm therefore reducing his warning to an advice, and removing the bit about him not closing up properly.

Quote from starting procedure:
<Approximately 20 seconds before crossing the start line the leader shall slow to pit speed and engage their pit lane speed limiter.
Each following driver shall close up directly behind the driver in front and also engage their limiter.
In simulations such as GTR2 where there is a visible indication that the car ahead has engaged its limiter, each following driver should not close up on the driver ahead until they can visually confirm that it has switched on its limiter.>

SBG disengages his limiter and takes off long before he reaches start/finish line. There's a line here also, but he should be able to see all the starting positions marked on the track, which continues until the next line, the real start/finish line. This doesn't affect the race much, as the other drivers follow him, but it's very hard to know how prepared the other drivers were for this.
Sorry to announce that I was wrong, the finish line is the one in the middle of the starting grid, only the start line is the last line. And since you start on lap 2, it's the finish line we should use.
Penalty removed.

Simon has spun trying to avoid the car in front's braking. He's waiting for the field to pass before rejoin. As he thinks it's clear he then moves right back to the rracing line with practically no speed. Robert then has little chanse of hitting him as he's chased by two other car, and probably spots Simon a bit late. Robert is then passed by those two drivers, but is later let by by Simon, or Simon just slides of the track?
Simon now sees that he should get up to speed outside the racing line to avoid these situations. Also he claims to have not seen Robert coming. After looking at the replay I can see how he'd missed him, as this car is very dark and is almost behind Simon as Simon's getting back into the racing line.

SBG is clearly cutting the track to pass Paul968. Even though Paul is being lapped this is a deliberate act and sertanly gives him an advantage.
This is also repeated at these times: 413, 515, 722, 824, 1455, 1561, 2081, 3628, 3938, 4900s.
The other times it could be he was missing the exit, but still this happens too often. This is also all in the same curve.

Robert Midderhoff(P13) catches popabawa(20) and Darren(P21), and passes Darren on the inside on the straight before this left-hander. He then dive bombs popabawa, knocking him flying out of the track. He was clearly sliding wide before contact, and was carrying too much speed entering.
Popabawa was being chased by Darren and was affraid he could pass if he let too much off, but still he could've made a bit more room here. However Robert would need the entire road to pass cleanly at this speed.

Andy Eves is lapped by FreQ, but then misses his braking before the next turn, ending up in FreQ's door. FreQ ends up on the grass. FreQ rejoind and get passed Andy again half a lap later, still in the lead.
This is clearly a mistake by Andy, and he admits that, but FreQ doesn't really loose anything by this.
