Moderator's Report

Rear End Shunt at Turn 1 Lap 1 caused by braking far too late.

1st lap incidents like this are completely avoidable so we will penalise anyone causing such an incident.

  • Phil Flack — Rear ending at T1L1 — 10.0 championship point(s)

Rear End Shunt at Turn 1 lap 1; unnecessarily risky overtake on final kink resulting in contact.

T1 shunt as above. The overtake was unnecessarily risky and impatient. It could have been completed safely had the EV followed the Ferrari through the turn and slipstreamed past on the straight. Instead by trying to make the pass in the kink it forced the ferrari to compromise his line through the kink at the last moment and resulted in contact at the exit of the corner. An entirely avoidable accident.

  • E. V. Phelps — Multiple incidents — 10.0 championship point(s)

Overly ambitious move on AdamG into T5 resulting in contact; running into the back of JV T5 later in the race.

Dave's move on adam was a borderline case. Although the incident was clearly Dave's fault the moderators had to decide whether it was a "once in a season" misjudgement , or the result of careless driving. The decision to penalise was based upon Dave also taking out JV later in the race. The moderators are aware that sometimes accident will happen as part of close exciting racing. Rest assured that we won't be penalising the racing incidents that are sometimes unavoidable, but if anyone does demonstrate a lack of care, or is continually involved in accidents like this they will be penalised.

  • Dave Bryant — Multiple incidents — 5.0 championship point(s)

Although this was a difficult situation with a lot happening at once, Mike should have been more cautious. Mike was lucky to escape a penalty here, but the moderators were prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt for what was an isolated incident. Had he exibited careless driving at any otehr point in the race he probably would have been penalised.

Adam tried an opportunist move when Lol ran wide, but drifted wide (aided by warp) into Lol. The contact was only light and both cars continud realtively unscathed, hence a warning rather than a penalty.

  • adamg67 — Bad pass on Lol Speedfreek

Moderator's Report

Adam has mailed me on this one and will know what its about. Adam connects with Dave Gee on the Pit Straight because Dave ran wide at the final hairpin but keeps going after almost connecting with Barty Mee. Adam has more speed coming up the straight but fails to give Dave enough room to continue his path and they collide. In view of Adam's warning at Kyalami this one is a straight penalty.

  • adamg67 — Causing an accident — 10.0 championship point(s)

Lol mooses it into the chicane and resets the car (with due care and attention) but it resets on the racing line and Lol moves off this immediately but straight into the path of Barty Mee the race leader who swerves and spins catching the armco. Barty thankfully continues on without damage or losing a place.

Moderator's Report

Reckless rejoining on lap 7 - JV nearly catches Adam who did well to miss him.

  • John Vizoso — Bad rejoin in front of Adam Greenwood

Reckless rejoining after a pit straight incident involving Neil Robertson and Dave Bryant. Mike rejoins into the path of Lol who ends up spinning due to attempting to change direction in the braking area.

James lifts when attempting to pit after a black flag. Neil Robertson ends up rear ending him as he is drafting for a pass. Not Neil's fault.

Moderator's Report

P Flack made a hopeful move on Mike Douglas at Malmedy by taking more speed into the left hander and appearing on Mike's right at the right hand flick. Contact was made and the pass wasn't really going to work. PF did wait however, and drove a great race after that. Hence a friendly warning.

Moderator's Report

Phil Flack vs Dave Gee

Dave brakes a little early for a right hander, and Phil collects him. Phil is suffering from warps and hence isn't able to react.

Racing incident.

Moderator's Report

Paul Thurston vs Dave Bryant.

Both parties mailed me after the race on this one. Paul gets a poor start and Dave is able to come alongside into Turn 1. Paul does leave room for Dave and likewise Dave keeps to the inside knowing that Paul is there, unfortunately Dave gets his rear wheel on the grass thus kicking out his rear end under acceleration and this connects with Paul's front wheel. The resulting melee causes a few drivers some problems. I can't find fault with either driver's actions so hence I can only mark this down to a racing incident.

Phil Flack

Unforutnately Phil joins a little too eagerly and as he is coming across the track is millimetres from causing a 2nd pile up. James Wright does very well to avoid him. A very similar incident to Juan's warning at Zandvoort hence a friendly.

Moderator's Report

Lap1, Turn 1: Neil Robertson vs James Wright.

James is alongside Neil as they go into the first corner. Neil takes the line into the corner and they touch. Looking at the replay from Neil perspective its impossible to know there is a car alongside due to the proximity of T1 to the start line. Perhaps he should have left a little more room just in case but its difficult for me to judge. Racing incident.

Lap 2, Turn 2: James Wright vs Paul Thurston

Due to Paul's problems at the start of the race getting caught up in the above incident. Paul is still on cold tyres and brakes particularly early. This catches out James who connects from the rear. James does brake as soon as he realises so again, a racing incident.

Lap 9, Moss Hairpin: James Wright vs Paul Thurston

James makes a move up the inside of Paul but GPL registers a touch. The replay from James' machine does not however. Again a racing incident.

Alan Hawkins vs Mike Douglas.

After many laps of close racing Alan clips Mike from behind. Alan does wait for Mike to rejoin but as always, a rear end shunt gains a 10 point Penalty

James Wright vs Phil Flack - Lap 1 Turn 1

James gets a very good start and ends up very close to Phil around Turn 1 - Phil runs the corner a little slower than James and unfortunately for James ends up connecting with the rear of his car. There are no cars to the rear of James so he could have left more room. To maintain consistency with other incidents this year this earns him a 10 point penalty.

  • James Wright — Rear ending Phil Flack — 10.0 championship point(s)

Lap 1, hairpin.

Again on lap 1, James is following Paul Thurston towards the Hairpin and Paul takes the inside line to protect the corner, James takes the wide line initially but turns into the apex of the corner already occupied by Paul. I can't read this as a racing incident as there is plenty of room on the outside of the corner for both cars. Again, this earns James a 10 point penalty.

  • James Wright — Collision with Paul Thurston — 10.0 championship point(s)
