Moderator's Report

Lap 20 Tony Cook/Colin Macdonald.

This was the only serious incident I am aware and it seriously disadvantaged one driver. (Colin)

Tony was following Colin (who was in P1) and from Colin's angle Tony drove straight up the back of him.

However, there was definately a severe case of warp going on here, this is proved by Tony's replay and the server replay.

From Tony's replay (and the server replay), Colin goes off-track to the right, vanishes for several seconds, and then reappears right in front of him.
Also on Tony's replay the point of contact shows the cars about 2 car lengths apart! Whereas on Colin's replay the cars touch.

Tony is clearly not at fault so no warnings or penalties can be issued.

Very bad luck Colin. :(

This may well have affected the outcome of the race, but this is something we cannot do anything about.

CAR CHANGING

One driver did change car, but did not set any times in the first car and also did not race. So there is no ruling to be made.

Moderator's Report

Two drivers exceeded the Shift-R limit of 2 and did not take stop-n-go's after Shift-R's.

  • Herb Moore — Exceeding Shift R limit — retired at the point of offence — 0 places lost
  • Paul Norman — Exceeding Shift R limit — retired at the point of offence — 0 places lost

Lap 3: Peter Gagg rear ends B Phillips, then quits.

  • pjgtech — Rear ending B Phillips

Lap 6: Tom Lyle did a Shift-R, but did not take stop-n-go.

Lap 6: Paul Scholey drove into the back of P Thornton at T1 under braking. Paul did take an extra stop and go and has avoided a penalty by this action.

Lap 16: A Cook was trying to lap A Dodd. A Dodd clips Tony whilst I believe trying to let him through. This incident may have cost Tony the race. Tony had been following A Dodd for a while and A Dodd should have responded to blue flags earlier.

Moderator's Report

Oh deary me, what a tangle! I had quite a lot to sort out here and have done it as fairly as I could.

The lap 1 incident at Masta was pretty horrendous with nearly the whole field affected. Can drivers ensure that when there is trouble ahead, you slow down to try and negotiate it, a lot of you did? but some of you need to take heed of this.

Some drivers still did not do STOP AND GOES after SHIFT-R's and have appropriate penalties.

Lap 1

  • Allan Davis — Ambitious overtaking on C MacDonald — 2 places lost

B Davies - Discoed at Pitstop ? Must move the car if doing 30 sec plus stops

Lap 3: B Phillips spun, blew engine, did Shift-R but did not do SNG

Lap 6: P Thornton blew engine and parked in the middle of the track causing an incident

M Smith - Lap one did Shift-R. Lap 2 did Shift-R. But only did one SNG.

  • Matt Smith — Failng to take Stop and Go — 6 places lost

Dave Clarke - Lap one did 2 Shift-R. Lap 9 did Shift-R. Only did 1 SNG.

  • Dave Clarke — Too many Shift-Rs — retired at the point of offence — 0 places lost

Lap 6: P Norman rear ends P Scholey

  • Paul Norman — Rear ending P Scholey — 2 places lost

P Scholey - rear ends P Norman, who was recovering and could have given way.

Ian Pollock - Tricky one this! Ian was driving a badly warping car and caused a lot of serious incidents as a result. Although there is no fixed penalty for this I do think he should have quit earlier. Although in his defence, it probably appeared from his viewpoint that all the other cars were warping.

  • Ian 'Bias' Pollock — Excessively bad connection leading to multiple incidents — 2 places lost

T Lyle starts to attempt to overtake a recovering CM under yellow flags and runs into other recovering cars.

Moderator's Report

Ian Pollock: Lap 10 self crash ? did s/r did immediate normal pitstop, but not
stop-n-go. If you shift-r you must take a sng even if you are taking a pitstop
the next lap. Penalty reduced to 3 places because of pitstop confusion.

  • Ian 'Bias' Pollock — Failure to stop and go (plus previous yellow card) — 4 places lost

Ian Pollock: Lap 13 did shift-r but did not take sng till lap 29. Must take stop-n-go within 2 laps.

On lap 28 DW attempts to overtake the position 3 car of Colin MacDonald. Dave Wilkinson had slowed more than normal at the bend, but I still feel this was over ambitious.

On lap 13 Ian Bassi has a crash on his own, whilst recovering he is hit by another car and then has to take a shift-r.

Ian decides that this is sufficient reason not to take a stop-and go. Whilst I can see his reasoning, I do not agree with it as it cannot be cannot argued that it is 100% not his fault. In addition Ian did not send a client replay.

Start - Ian Bassi ? 2 Penalties

Ian makes a better start than the car in front (Dave Clarke), he moves over to the right and clips Peter Gagg, then rebounds across in front of DC who has nowhere to go and hits IB's rear. This results in a massive pileup that involves 9 cars and subsequently spoils many drivers races right at the start. Whilst I can see why Ian made the move, it was not well exectuted and was over-ambitious especially for the start of a race. Ian quit the race so these penalties will be carried forward and added to any future place penalties.

On Lap 1 Adrian does a shift-R after a spin before the hairpin. He did not do a stop-and-go.

  • Adrian Dodd — Failing to Stop and Go after Shift-R — 6 places lost

Lap 6: Dave Clarke: lost control under braking, spun and took out Herb.

Lap 8: Peter Gagg is overtaking Phil Thornton on the left and Phil moves sharply left into Peter, then there is then contact. The situation at the time was a little confusing as there was a recovering car involved. So a 1 place penalty is reduced to a warning.

Lap 17: Herb Moore was being overtaken by Allan Davies, who had clearly got ahead, Herb aggressively tries to keep the position, and there is contact. Overaggressive defending.

Lap 1 Turn1 Peter Gagg/Christian Dames

Just before turn 1 Peter Pulls ahead of Christian, but then Christian (under braking) comes alongside on the left, so the cars are overlapped. Peter takes the racing line effectively cutting across Christian and there is contact between the cars. Luckily all other cars managed to avoid the incident. A bit of a tricky one to call, but I have decided It is a racing incident. Basically both drivers should have been a little more cautious. No Action

Lap 2 just before turn 1, Paul Norman and Phil Thornton

Paul was close behind Phil, with another car very close behind him. I would guess that Paul had his eyes on the car behind to defend his position and perhaps thought Phil was going to brake later than he did. But it was technically a straight rear-ending incident. This was a shame as it spoilt Phils race, he was leading at the time.

  • Paul Norman — Rear ending P. Thornton (plus previous yellows) — 7 places lost

Lap 5 Adrian Dodd

On lap 5 Adrian crashes and then is hit by a pursuing car. He does a shift-r. Later on lap 5 Adrian crashes and does another shift-r He does not take any stop-and-goes. This is ok and Adrian has not infringed any rules, but I have to add 12 seconds to his race time for each non taken SNG. However there is no resultant change in results as the next car was 30 seconds behind. No Action

Moderator's Report

Lap 1 Turn 2

Phil Thornton's car warps at Turn2 reappears right in front of Paul Norman who can do nothing to avoid him. This causes a major pile up. No blame for anyone here.

Lap 1 Hairpin

Matt smith spins just into the hairpin, he starts to try to get out of the way, but then (sensibly) stops as cars approach, unfortunately there then ensues a bit of a pile up and mele as cars pile in and try to untangle themselves. Again no blame to anyone. But as a general note there was a yellow flag and cars should have slowed more and been able to avoid crashes. All very difficult in race conditions, "well if I am over cautious everyone behind will zap past!".

Lap 2 Peter Gagg/Christian Dames

Peter rearends Christian into the hairpin. Peter claims full responsibly.

  • pjgtech — Rear-ending C. Dames — 2 places lost

Lap 12 Tom Lyle/Christian Dames

Tom does a bit of a bad rejoin infront of Christian who take stop the grass to avoid him then crashes into Tom. This was pretty much Tom's fault but he came off far worse in the incident and Christian was undamaged.

Warning Tom Lyle ? reduced to an unrecorded verbal as he came off badly.

Paul Norman Disqualified for using 2 cars.

Just so everyone is clear on this for the future....The rule states:
"Once the driver has entered the server their car choice is made. They may not exit and change car after they have joined the server. The only exception to this is if WinVROC or the driver accidentally selects the wrong car. In this case they must exit immediately and change to the correct car."

Lap 2 Colin MacDonald/Paul Scholey

Colin MacDonald trys to overtake Paul Scholey at the end of the straight before the hairpin.

Looses control of the car and crashes into Paul, also affected is Mike Dawkins.

Whilst this wasnt an overambitious overtake in terms of the fact that it was on....it was overambitious in terms of Colins ability to control the car under braking on this track at this point. I hope that makes sense.
