Moderator's Report

This is the first time Division 1 has used the longer one hour race length, and with a full 19 car field for this race I was worried that there might be a lot of incidents. I'm pleased to report this wasn't the case at all, we had 15 finishers and the standard of driving was impressively high throughout the field - well done guys, and keep it up. ;-)

Lap 1, Turn 5 - Harrison and Pollock

Pollock is following Harrison into turn 5. Harrison runs a little wide and the back end steps out. Pollock holds a tight line and moves alongside as Harrison recovers onto the racing line. Warp contact follows while the cars are still 50 cm apart.

Racing incident.

Lap 2, Turn 3 - Maiph and Nicol

Maiph gets a better exit from turn 2 and moves alongside Nicol. Maiph holds the inside line for turn 3 and is ahead, but Nicol just catches Maiph's rear wheel as he turns in. Its a very tight entry for this corner and Nicol had very little room to play with, plus Maiph was unaffected so I'm reducing the penalty to a warning for Nicol.

Lap 2, Turn 3 - Nicol and Harrison

Harrison with suspension damage from his earlier incident runs wide at turn 3 and into the recovering Nicol. There were no yellows.

Racing incident.

Lap 17, Turn 6 - Foster and Randall

Randall gets alongside Foster as they approach turn 5. They run side by side through turn 5 and along the next straight, but Randall is unable to hold the outside line through turn 6 and contact occurs. Foster is unaffected so I'm reducing the penalty to a warning for Randall.

Lap 17, Turn 7 - Foster and Maiph

Foster stays wide on entry to turn 7, possibly thinking Randall is still alongside. Maiph takes the opportunity to move alongside, but Foster gets some oversteer just before the exit of the corner and there is warp contact.

Racing incident.

Lap 23, Turn 4 - Murray and Williams

Williams moves alongside Murray as they approach turn 4, with Williams on the inside. Murray fails to leave sufficient room and they collide.

  • Ken Murraypenalty — Contact — 2 places lost

Lap 33 - Portman (Cooper)

Portman makes his 5 second stop a long way outside the scheduled pit stop window. (3 x scheduled stop time) - 5 second stop performed = 10 seconds added.

  • Martin Portman — Pit stop outside pit window — 10.000 seconds added

Lap 42 - Portman

Portman makes a Shift-r but doesn't stop in the pits.

  • Martin Portman — Failing to Stop and Go after a Shift R — 15.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

Lap 1 T1

Kev Clark holds the inside line and Ken Murray goes right round the outside. On the exit, Kev moves over to the middle of the track and Ken moves back slightly to the inside. They touch wheels, resulting in Kev spinning down and across the track, miraculously missing everyone! Unfortunately the avoiding action taken by the cars around causes a chain reaction of crashes over the next 2 corners. No-one was to blame for these. In the case of the original collision, I don't think either driver knew for certain that the other car was there. I also can't see how either driver could be blamed solely and I don't think either behaved irresponsibly.

Therefore this is deemed to be a racing incident.

Lap 1

R.Foster does a shift -r after being hit by a rogue car (Kev). Again not his fault but he does a stop/go penalty although he doesn't have to.

Lap 1

R.Briant ran into the accident in front of him and had to take a shift-r. He doesn't do a stop/go because he is not at fault.

Moderator's Report

Lap 1

K.Clark is hit by M.Wrightson just after the start and does a shift-r. he takes a stop/go penalty. Neither driver could see each other and were both juggling for position as carefully as can be expected as they fed into Eau Rouge. Kev was well over to the left against the wall and could have done no more than he did, Mike moved left to give room to another car but failed to see Kev until it was too late. I feel for Mike here, it's a tough situation but nevertheless the blame is clear-cut. Mike's penalty (should be 3 places for a L1 incident like this) is reduced since he was clearly attempting to avoid one incident but caused another.

Lap 17

D.Randall does a shift-r after crashing into a spinning car in the middle of the track. No fault so no stop/go done.

Lap 33

P.Schyns Shift-Rs in the middle of the last corner for no obvious reason (fuel?) but does not SnG within 2 laps.

  • Philippe Schyns — failing to SnG after a shift-R — 15.000 seconds added

Lap 34

M.Wrightson has a go down the inside of P.Schyns into T1 and has a large enough overlap to warrant Phillipe leaving room although Mike is not ahead at the point of impact. This incident was not reported by either driver (it was picked up because of the shift-R) so no penalty will be given but the shift-R was not fault-free so a time penalty still applies.

  • Philippe Schyns — failing to SnG after a shift-R — 15.000 seconds added

M.Pitchford stopped twice for 5 seconds instead of 26 secs due to a misunderstanding. No advantage was gained so the normal 3x shortage penalty will not apply.

Moderator's Report

A 17 car field and a very high standard of driving by nearly everyone - well done chaps. Congratulations to Randall on a solid drive to victory, after Edwards ran out of fuel with 2 laps to go.

Lap 11 Harrison and Portman

Harrison lost control at Abbey, Portman forced off track by Harrison re-entering not in control. Portman resets then does a S&G but did not need to as not his fault.

Racing incident.

Lap 16 Bridgett (Ferrari)

Scheduled pit stop was short by 3 seconds.

Lap 22 Clark and Murray

Murray attempts a pass on the inside of Clark as they approach Club, but Murray squeezes Clark unnecessarily in the braking zone.

Lap 24 Williams and Wilkinson

Williams loses it exiting Maggotts and rebounds off a haybale into Becketts, collecting the approaching Wilkinson.

Racing incident.

Lap 29 Bridgett (Ferrari)

Scheduled pit stop was short by 3 seconds.

Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Kevin Williams, who won by more than 50 seconds.

Lap 1, Turn 1 Edwards / Randall / Stratton / Bridgett

Edwards makes an over ambitious pass on Randall and has to take to the grass and scramble round, he makes it but could have been nastier if Randall hadn't lifted so much. This in turn caused Stratton & Bridgett to come to grief. Clark does well to avoid. Normally this is a 3 place penalty on lap 1, but I'm reducing it to 2 places because of partial loss of control.

Lap 1 Schyns & Wilkinson

5:42 Schyns cuts across the grass on the inside to try and pass a recovering Wilkinson, but doesn't leave enough room for him on the exit. Again, this would normally be a 3 place penalty on lap 1, but I'm reducing it to 2 places since 5 minutes into the race would be beyond lap 1 at any other circuit.

Lap 2 Smith & Doyle

12:08 Smith runs wide and hits the fence, rebounding across the track into the path of the oncoming Doyle.

Racing incident.

Lap 2 Bridgett & Pitchford

15:06 Bridgett gets along Pitchford and there is slight contact, probably caused by warp.

Racing incident.

Lap 4 Bridgett (Ferrari)

Scheduled pit stop was short by 3 seconds.

Moderator's Report

Lap 7

10:08 Wilkinson rear ends Portman after he slows to avoid a recovering Briant. Wilkinson has nowhere to go here but pits anyway despite makiing a no fault shift-r.

Racing incident.

A small field and a very clean race. Congrats to Glyn on an impressive victory.

Lap 1

1:19 Williams and Pitchford have what looks like a warp contact.

Racing incident.

Moderator's Report

This was final race of season 10, and also one of the best to watch with a great battle up front between Struds, Az and the 4 Lotuses. Well done to Struds on the race win, and to Az on the championship.

I'd like to thank all the Division 1 drivers for making this season a very enjoyable one to mod. We had high attendance levels throughout the whole season, and the level of respect you showed each other on track was evident in the low number of incidents we had.

I wish you all the best of luck in season 11.

Regards,

Nev

Lap 3 Maiph and Doyle

Side by side contact under braking for Bosch Kurve. Both drivers could have left a little more room, but the nature of the track at this point makes doing so difficult.

Racing incident.

Lap 4 Pitchford and Maiph

Pitchford loses control braking for Rindt Kurve and spins into the path of Maiph.

Racing incident.

Lap 16 Briant (Cooper)

Briant combines a fuel stop in the pits with his mandatory pit stop, performing a shift-r. But he fails to come in for a SnG afterwards.

  • RIKBRIANT — Failure to Stop & Go — 15.000 seconds added

Lap 22 Maiph and Randall

Randall rear ends Maiph under braking for Rindt Kurve.

  • Dave Randallpenalty — rear end shunt — 2 places lost
