Moderator's Report
We had a thrilling race to the flag in the opening round of season 11, with John Bradbury stealing the lead, and the win from Nat on the final lap of the race. Congratulations John!
Practice session: John Bradbury
John commenced qualification prior to the 30 minute official start time. All drivers take note that the practice session is set to 35 minutes in order to give everyone a fair chance to join the server before the 30 minute practice session officially starts, not to allow you an extra 5 minutes qually time. I'm giving John a warning this time since it was the first race of the season.
Lap1, T1, Nev Richard, Hristo Itchov, Clive Loynes, Malc Bywaters, Gasper Lednik, Alan Wallace, Nat Wald and others.
Az loses control of his Eagle under hard acceleration and it sends him right over the track. Hristo has to swerve slightly to avoid the back of Az, the back steps out, throwing him towards the grass, Hristo then has to peg his speed to regain full control. Meanwhile Nev has decided to move towards the inside of the track to follow Hristo, misjudges Hristo's lack of speed and hits him, carnage ensues. Clive Loynes gets caught in the carnage above, when he is recovering on the grass, Hristo ShiftR's and Clive gets a warp hit (a double whammy). Hristo waited and would not have known anyone was close.
This was a bad accident that effected most of the field, big losers was Nev, Malc, Clive and Hristo, maybe a few others also. No blame is proportioned to any driver. Az lost control and Hristo is reacting to what he saw and then fighting to regain control. Nev from his view cannot see much wrong with Hristo, decides to follow him through T1 and is at the correct speed to take the bend. Nev then realizes too late that Hristo is slow and brakes. All other drivers just get caught in the crash.
Verdict - Racing incident
(thanks to Chris Darkes for moderating the above incident)
Lap 4, T1 Wallace and Lednik
Lednik tries a move around the outside of Wallace but warp contact throws Lednik into the barriers.
Racing incident.
Lap 11 Ivan Tierno
Ivan runs wide in the loop and has to shift-r. However he does not perform a 35 second stop in the pits afterwards, instead just performing a stop and go.
DQ at point of shift-r.
- Ivan Paiz Tierno — failing to take 35s stop after Shift R — retired at the point of offence
