Moderator's Report

Relatively straightforward race. Fine result for Dean in the Honda.

Lap 1. K Saxena & R Nilsson.

Karan gets a better drive out of the previous right hander and gradually pulls alongside Ronnie who is to his right. They both head for the same piece of tarmac and touch. This incident was partly caused by Karan's horrendous warping.

Racing Incident - Exacerbated by Warp

Lap 3. R Nilsson.

R. Nilsson - Failure to take stop/go penalty following shift-r = 15 second time penalty.

NB As far as I'm concerned, if you take a shift-r which is clearly your fault, it is sporting to take the stop/go and not rely on the mods to pick it up.

Lap 11 D Lawrence. Pit stop short by 6 seconds.

Pitstop short by 6 secnds = 18 second time penalty.

NB I've noticed a few drivers breaking up their pitstop into 2 or 3 sections to prevent the dreaded disco but then "stealing" a few yards by moving up the pitlane. If I see a driver doing this and on pit exit, this could have POSSIBLY brought them out in front of the following car, I will remove the advantage gained.

  • david lawrence — pitstop short by 6 seconds — 18.000 seconds added

Lap 12 S Loynes & D Lawrence

Simon is chasing Dave approaching a left hander. Dave moves over to the right off the line and slows down unexpectedly early for Simon who rear ends him. As the following driver, you have a responsibility to make sure you can brake in time to not hit the car in front. However, Simon is entitled to a reducton in his penalty due to the unexpected lack of speed from Dave.

  • simon loynespenalty — Rear End Shunt - penalty reduced to 1 place — 1 place lost

Lap 15 P Thornton & M Pitchford

Mark is leading down the long straight before a right hander. Phil gets a tow and pulls out to the right to take the inside line. As they approach the corner they are side by side and touch. As the overtaking car, it is Phil's responsibility to leave enough room by moving well over to the right. He failed to do this resulting in the incident.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — Side by Side Contact — 2 places lost

Lap 18 P Thornton & M Pitchford

A virtual repeat of the last incident except this time they didn't touch on entry to the corner but on the exit. Neither at fault.

Racing incident.

Moderator's Report

Well done to Dean H for a second consecutive win and faultless drive. Commiserations to Ronnie who was leading when he discoed during his pitstop. Quite a lot of incidents so I've focused on the contentious ones.

Lap 1 C Navonne, P Thornton, M Ratters & S Wynne

Phil rear ends Claudio. Mike is following and can't avoid running into them. S Wynne is following Mike and hits the melee. As this was a lap 1 incident, Phil would normally incurr an extra penalty but I'm waiving it because it's Nurburgring.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — Rear End Collision — 2 places lost

Lap 2 K Saxena & D Holloway.

Karan rear ended Dean. Simple decision.

  • Karan Saxenapenalty — Rear End Collision — 2 places lost

Lap 2 S Loynes & C Navonne

Simon is following but a long way back from Claudio. He brakes much later than Claudio, tries to avoid him by going on the grass on the inside but spears him amidships. Simon can clearly brake late here but as the following driver, the overriding factor is being able to avoid hitting the car in front.I considered reducing the penalty by 1 place due to Simon being on the grass for a few feet before the accident but I think Simon would have hit him anyway.

  • simon loynespenalty — Rear End Collision/Ambitious Overtake — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Lap 2 P Thornton & M Ratters

Mike is ahead of Phil but goes wide onto the grass, bounces off the fence and back onto the track in front of Phil who can't avoid hitting him.

Racing Incident

Lap 4 P Thornton & M Ratters

Mike is following Phil and rear ends him. Nice and simple.

  • Ratterspenalty — Rear End Collision — 2 places lost

Lap 5 Long final straight J Kitching & P Thornton

Jodie is ahead but loses control and ploughs into the hedge on the right. Phil is right behind and seems to do a carbon copy of Jodie's manoevre ending up smashing into the back of him.

Racing incident.

Lap 5 M Ratters

Mike takes a shift-r on lap 5 but can't do the stop/go as it's the last lap.

  • Ratters — Missed a Stop & Go — 15.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

Another win for Dean after Simon's "on track" win is moderated. Very small field because of the bank holiday and therefore few incidents.

Lap 1 Turn 1 Dean Holloway and Simon Loynes

Dean is on the inside approaching the right hander, Simon is to his left on the outside. Simon cuts across and they make contact. Simon should have known Dean was to his right from the grid starting positions and Dean was clearly visible in Simon's right hand mirror(using the "look right" button) as he turned in. Simon should have kept to the left and allowed room for both, particularly as this was the first corner of the first lap.

  • simon loynespenalty — Side-by-side contact on first lap — 3 places lost (plus 2 for penalty points)

Lap 16 K Saxena and Dean Holloway

Karan is following Dean and rear ends him. Karan then makes a point of pulling off the track and trundling along until Dean has retaken his lost place. This kind of sporting behaviour is to be applauded. This can however cause problems for following cars in some circumstances so I would rather see the culprit take a stop/go in the pits as recompence. However, on this occasion it was probably a safe and fair way to allow Dean his position back so I'm reducing the penalty to 1 place.

  • Karan Saxenapenalty — Rear End Shunt - penalty reduced to 1 place — 1 place lost

Moderator's Report

Another low turnout for this race and few incidents. Congratulations to Simon Loynes on his win.

Lap 1 Turn 3 P Thornton, S Loynes & R Nilsson

Phil is following Simon and approaching the right hander taking the inside line. Simon moves across for the corner earlier than expected and Phil fluffs his braking and slews onto the kerb and bounces back into Simon sending him off in a spin. Ronnie is following and can't do anything to avoid the still spinning Phil. This incident appears to be the result of an unexpected move by the leading driver and consequent loss of control by the following driver.

Racing incident.

Lap 2 Start/finish straight S Loynes & M Pitchford

Simon is following but is quicker out of parabolica so gets a tow and lines up for the overtake. He goes to Mark's right and gradually pulls alongside and then turns back in. Simon does not leave enough room either to his left or between his rear and the front of Mark's car before he turns in and they touch, sending Mark into a spin which necessitates a shift-r. Mark is partly to blame because he drifts right as Simon comes left. It is very difficult for Simon to judge where Mark's car is as he retakes the line so I'm putting it down to a racing incident. However, it is the responsibility of the overtaking driver to leave enough room and on this occasion Simon should have been more careful.

  • simon loyneswarning — Lack of care when overtaking — also, 3 places lost for penalty points

Lap 7 Dave Lawrence Pitstop

Dave's stop is 5 seconds short. I understand he had some trouble with gpl wait and this was the result.

  • david lawrencepenalty — Pitstop short by 5 seconds — 15.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

Well, after a succession of quiet races, this one was a little more eventfull. Steve Foster drove an immaculate race to take the win.

Lap 1 Dean Holloway & Simon Loynes

Simon is ahead and to the left approaching the sweeping right hander. Simon runs a little wide and scrubs off speed. He is still on the track as Dean comes along and clips his right side, pushing him down the bank and forcing Simon to "go green" and rejoin a few hundred feet further on. Dean continues unaffected. This accident was caused by Dean being caught out by the unexpected loss of speed by Simon as he slewed his car and contact was unavoidable.

Racing incident

Lap 1 D Holloway,M Ratters,D Lawrence,S Foster& M Pitchford

Approaching the left hander Dean is to the left and on the racing line while Mike is behind and to the right. Mike goes for the pass on the outside of the approaching corner and tags Dean as he moves back infront. Dean spins which leads to an almighty pile up as the other following drivers are helpless to avoid piling in. Dave, Steve and Mark take a no-fault shift-r and Mike does his mandatory stop/go after his shift-r Mike is at fault here for not allowing enough room and for not getting clearly ahead before turning in.

  • Ratterspenalty — Side by side contact — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Lap 1 Simon Loynes & D Lawrence

Simon is well back from the pack of cars involved in the big smash described earlier. As he approaches the bend, seconds after the impact there is no yellow flag. As he comes onto the straight he can see the upside down, spinning car of Dave Lawrence in the middle of the circuit but can't avoid impact.

Racing Incident

Dave Lawrence pit stop.

I timed this at 2 seconds short being 33 instead of 35 and Dave also moved pretty much half the length of the pitlane during his stop. Pitstop short by 2 seconds = 6 second penalty.

Note: A general note on pitstops. I noticed that some drivers did not keep their car sufficiently over to the right of the pitlane when stopping and one driver actually blocked the entrance to the pitlane during his stop(he moved forward after 10 secs or so). The pitlane is narrow at the Glen and it's important to get over as far as you can and to not stop right at the beginning of the pitlane. I'm taking no action on this occasion but you won't get away with it in future.

Moderator's Report

Only 5 drivers turned up for this one and Ben Summers triumphed after a late push from Phil who nearly pipped him right at the end.

Lap 5 R Nilsson & M Pitchford

Ronnie has spun and is sitting off the racing line facing the wrong way. He can clearly see the next car driven by Mark approaching but decides to pull away anyway, right into Mark's path. Ronnie should have waited until Mark had passed.

Moderator's Report

Congratulations again to Simon Loynes for a first class drive and for being brave enough to take the Honda with the benefit of an 8 second pit stop. Nice one.

Very clean race with a good standard and just a couple of little niggles.

Lap 2: M Ratters & B Darwin
Mike and Bernie are side by side going round a sweeping right hander. Bernie is overtaking up the inside and Mike is out wide and to the left. As they exit the corner they touch which looked as though warp might have been involved. Anyhow, it's a racing incident.

Racing Incident

Lap 13: Mike Ratters
Mike disconnected on this lap but was 2 stop & go penalties down. 30 seconds needs to be added to his final time in the event that this has any impact on the points score of other drivers.

  • Ratters — Two SnGs not taken — 30.000 seconds added

Bernie Darwin pitstop
Bernie was 7 seconds short on his stop = 21 second penalty.

  • bernie — Short Pit Stop — 21.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

Congratulations again to Simon Loynes on another fine win in the Honda. He led from start to finish and drove very cleanly. There were a lot of people spinning, crashing and resetting at this race but remarkably few incidents.

Incidents:

Mike Ratters & Bernie Darwin Lap 2 Loew's Hairpin
Mike is leading and Bernie is close up behind. Bernie decides to dive up the inside at the apex where there isn't room. He basically forces Mike's car out of the way and takes the place. It was very lucky that neither car spun here. Bernie takes the place unfairly in my opinion and therefore gets a 2 place penalty for an ambitious overtake.

  • berniepenalty — Ambitious overtake — 2 places lost

Bernie Darwin Pitstop Lap 9
Bernie hits the wall at Gazometres and takes off a wheel. He then does a shift-r and pits for his timed stop. The pitstop is short by 7 seconds

  • bernie — short pitstop by 7 seconds — 21.000 seconds added

Following the above incident Bernie fails to complete a SnG for the ShiftR.

  • bernie — Missed SnG — 15.000 seconds added

Mike Ratters Pitstop Lap 11
Mike stops in the pits and does a shift-r followed by his timed stop. However, he doesn't then do a stop/go penalty for his shift-r.

  • Ratters — failure to carry out stop/go — 15.000 seconds added

Dave Lawrence Pitstop Lap 12
I thought I'd seen every possible combination of events but I don't think I've ever seen this before. Dave pulls into the pits for his timed stop but after 10 seconds he blows the engine due to over- enthusiastic revving (It's an Italian engine,Dave!).He then does a shift-r and moves back into the pit lane for the rest of his stop. Dave was stationary in the pits for at least 25 seconds so he gained no advantage so there's no penalty for splitting the stop. He carried out a stop/go on the next lap.

Moderator's Report

Another win for Simon Loynes after a great drive free from errors. A very clean race with just a couple of pitstop niggles.

Simon Loynes
Simon Loynes pitted one lap late (ie beyond the pit stop window).I'm sure this was a lapse of concentration and he gained nothing so no action is appropriate.

Ronnie Nilsson
Ronnie stopped in the pit lane for his stop and not in his stall.

  • Ronnie Nilssonwarning — failure to carry out pit stop correctly

Moderator's Report

Summary

A clean race to end the season with Simon taking top position on the podium as race winner and Division 2 Champion. Mike Ratcliffe and Bernie Darwin completed the podium.

Phil Thornton and Simon Loynes - Lap 1 - Start finish straight.

Good start from Phil to the right and Simon to his left on a 3 car tightly packed front row. About half way to the corner there is side by side contact between them that sends them both off. It's hard to drive in a perfect straight line from the start with cold tires and a full fuel load. Neither car deviates much from the straight ahead but Phil moves a little to the left and Simon moves a tiny bit right which is all it takes.

Racing incident.

Bernie Darwin - Lap 11 - Pit stop.

Bernie is 2 seconds short on his stop.

  • bernie — Short pit stop — 6.000 seconds added

Simon Loynes & Phil Thornton - Lap 19 - Main Straight.

Simon's engine blows and he comes to a halt to the right of the track on the main straight. Phil & Dean are approaching and Phil pulls out to overtake not seeing Simon till it's too late. Simon takes a shift-r for a no fault collision but doesn't take a shift -r for the blown engine. The collision is a racing incident. Simon Loynes failure to take stop/go = 15 second time penalty.

  • simon loynes — Failure to take Stop and Go — 15.000 seconds added

Bernie Darwin - Lap 24 - Start Finish Straight.

Bernie runs out of fuel quite a way short of the finish and coasts for several hundred yards (it's 1967; metric hasn't been invented yet) before doing a shift-r and crossing the line. Bernie should have pulled off the track once his fuel ran out and thereby reduced the chances of anyone hitting him. As it was the last lap, he couldn't take his stop/go penalty.

  • bernie — Failure to take Stop and Go — 15.000 seconds added
